Morning!

Yoga last night was really good. New place and instructor for me and I liked it a lot. I need to talk to DH about making that Thursday night class part of the routine. Golf tonight.

((Duck)) hope recovery is quick and the pain meds do the job!

I third that motion that summer running isn't fun. At least training in the summer means that we should all be in great shape for fall events, yes?

Bi/Tri/Abs/butt/thigh work completed. All that's left are some planks for later this evening. Tomorrow will probably be my LR of the week, though I doubt I'll get 12 again. I'm not sure if I'm fighting something or what, but I've been feeling pretty run down this week. Meh.

I slept in this morning since I was so sore yesterday after my long run. The good news is that the legs are much better today. The bad news is that if I get out for a run, it will be hot hot hot. Not sure yet whether I am going to do that or just call this a rest day.

Hi all - first off, wanted to send much vibes to you Duck; I hope the procedure is successful and the healing is quick

Well, I got my minimalist shoes in the mail yesterday and went half-mile in them to try them out. They remind me of a flip-flop bottom (though much thinner) married to a track shoe upper - kinda' nice to be running around in something that light. Going to take them out for a very short stint today as part of the build-up process.

Also got in some more of my strength routine yesterday - leg is still twitchy but way better than one-week ago for sure.

Anybody racing this weekend? Speedy mojo to you folks and happy fitnessing to you all

Joe - good luck with the minimalist shoes. I am wary of the entire barefoot movement, but I understand the concept and hope that it helps you out. Just be careful! We don't want you to get hurt.

That's what I keep telling myself. If I weren't saying that, I would have no other explanation as to why I'm so slow all the time...

I don't think I'll ever try those minimalist shoes. I first started trying to run longer distances back when I was in college, and I kept gettng shin splints. It scared me away from running for more than a decade. When I got back into it, I finally went to a running store and they told me that my high arches needed shoes with a lot of support there. I got the right shoes, and my shins have been fine ever since. I ain't gonna go messin' with my shins again by trying to run in flip-flops...

6.4 warm/humid miles here in Cincy. Conditions improved about halfway through for me.

My take on minimalist shoes: great tool if used appropriately. Best thing is once you learn how to run and not heel strike you can wear whatever shoe you desire.

Running on the treadmill in the middle of summer is NOT wussy. I would have skipped it (No treadmill for this girl unless there is ice on the ground).
