Good Morning Everyone!

Who's racing this weekend??

RFTL, winter is almost over, hopefully this will be the last bad storm up there.

Pacer, I'm glad you got in a decent run yesterday. Hopefully you'll manage to sneak in your long run over the weekend. You are more than ready for Boston!

Boston: I've now decided to shift my fears from the hills to dealing with a massive amounts of bodies in front of me...am I even going to be able to run at goal pace when everyone else will be going so much slower? How long will it take to clear out? I'm thinking most people are going to be running even slower than their BQ's there, so it'll be a mess. I'm pretty sure I'll just take a hand-held water bottle for the first 1/3 of the race and then chuck it, so I won't have to deal with the water stops.

I'm normally not such a head case, I swear.

Today is something really easy, I think 6ish. Then tomorrow is a 5 miler with a bunch of warm-up/cool-down miles thrown in and Sunday is a 20 miler. I'm really looking forward to Sunday, I haven't gone long for 2.5 weeks or so and I love those runs!

Hey all:

Still crazy busy first week at the new job. Got out last night for 7 easy with 4x440 in the middle. It was pretty cool - the moon was almost full and the track was practically lit for a change! 440s in 71-73. Felt nice to be running fast. Easy 30 minutes plus this morning.

Good runs today everybody!

Five miles last night with Hank right before dark. Actually can't believe I did it. Not sure I've ever wanted to blow off a run so bad (and I had blown it off the night before....fricking stoopid running a first half and defending a dissertation in the same week, people...)

Was a really nice run once I got out though. Sunny and nice. No doubt will help me this weekend when it is SUPPOSED TO SNOW AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
yuck.

Today I'm going to go for a long-ish puppy walk and if i can squeeze it in, some pilates and core work.

Great runs today!

Scratch your posts reminds me of myself in my teens and 20s. I couldn't gain weight if I tried. Graduated high school at about 130. Graduated college around 150 or so. Late 20s hit 175. Funny how my weight seemed to jump by about 15 to 25 pounds every 5 years.. Odd now that I think about it.

Then about age 28-29 the weight began to really stick. That was when my job kept me from playing softball and other sports. Also I had to work an average of 3 nights a week. When I would get home about 9:30pm I was exhausted and the first thing I did was hit the fridge... I became inactive and still pigging out when I ate.... Suddenly from age 30 on I was 210-225.

Now thankfully I after about 5 years of literally being stuck on 215-225 I am at 210. Also there have been a few weeks in the past months that I have been between 207-209. So if I keep it up, stay consistent then I am hoping to take baby steps to 205, 199, 195, 189 and then to about 185. Those are my benchmark weights. I really don't want to go below the 180s as that would be too small for my own personal comfort. I don't want to be skinny but a cut, fit build in the upper 180s in weight.

It snowed last night!!!! So pretty...I'm changing my 4mi TM sprints to outside so I can enjoy it I've been consistently running my longer runs at or below 10:50, so I may re-think my HM pace for Madison and sneak in more speedwork. It's amazing how much faster the runs are when you're moving faster....

This made me smile...it's about #387 on the list of why I'm not a real runner I hate 15+...

PTom, I think I missed the new job thing...sorry! This is the startup company, right? Hope the first week has gone well!

Scratch, RFTL...When I invent the chubs-to-muscle converter machine, I'd be happy to donate some pounds to you guys Good luck with the weight gain!

Good runs/workouts everyone!

Biah, if you need a test subject for that converter, put me on the list. I've got plenty to share...

Thanks for the input on the breathing thing, folks. My mom also is urging me to go to the doctor to get it checked out - and she has had all forms of breathing problems forever, so she would know. As long as I don't have to skip today's run!

My SIL ran her first 5k this past weekend, with great success, and now she's got the running bug! She's looking for a 5-person relay of not too much distance for the 5 running relatives (my dad, my cousin, my SIL, me and my bro) to do together. Anyone here know of a good relay that would work with 5 people?

Who's racing this weekend? Jen, anyone else? Good luck!!

G'morning, all. Nada in the way of fitness for me yesterday. Just lots of beer and basketball, all day long. Same thing today. But I'll try to get in a run first. 7 miles? 8 maybe? Hmmm. We'll see how much my dehydrated self can handle...

Ha! Seriously, of course, I am scarfing down my second box of Girl Scout cookies, so that might be problem number one for me.

Morning all,

I had a nice moonlight 12.5 mile cruise last night. Today should be an easy day with just 6 miles w/3 @ 7:15. Tomorrow will be my last 15+ since I'm in taper mode. Will probably do 16 - 17 in the morning.

Good runs to all,
Question: Aren't there Open Track Invitational sort of things where instead of racing the 5K and up you can go compete in shorter track distances? My friend wants to run those and I told her I would look around. She lives in Ohio. Thanks!
