Okay, it is Friday and I am just now FINALLY getting around to running this week

I refuse to feel guilty about it. I refuse to feel guilty about it. I refuse to feel guilty about it.

I still have a bad head cold, but did peel myself out of bed nice and early for a stroll on the treadmill.

Continuing Ailarie's question: What are your fall plans? I am doing Chicago - come join me!

Yeah, don't feel guilty. If you've got a cold, your body needs to rest. You did the right thing...

I did an easy run last night. I'll do another easy one tonight. Then something long-ish tomorrow...

QOD: Uh, I don't know about the Fall yet. I'm still trying to figure out the Summer first. At least I have the Spring planned out!

Morning Gang -

Uggg, Mindi, that sucks. Rest up and hit it tomorrow. At least Eugene is still a long way away.

I'm heading out for something mediumish in a bit. The warm up is starting! It will be zero when I run. Yipee!

QOD: Twin Cities for sure in the fall.

Morning all! Got out for 7.65 mi last night on the big loop around CP and 6.55 mi this morning over the bridges of downtown, it's a brisk one out but the sun is shining and that [sorta] makes up for it.

Mindi - don't feel guilty and don't worry about this morning's run; I don't really have a cold and I was breathing like a fat man chasing the ice cream truck while hauling my carcass up Harlem Hill last night. Not a pretty sight.

Thanks Cindi and Maria. I am actually really feeling cranky and down about it so I REALLY appreciate it. You guys are the best. :)

I so can't imagine teenagers yet. My youngest son already has me on the ropes lately. He can be a sassy, scowly little thing and I am constantly trying to get him to lighten up and be happy. Apparently my optimism did not transfer to him.

have a run planned after work. 5 miles on the TM. Did my strength this morning: pyramid workout with the following reps 1 pullup, 2 pushups, 3 situps. Start at 1. Multiply the number of reps by the level. One minute of rest between each level. Went up to 5, and then back down this morning. Managed regular pullups on 1, 2, and the first two of the third level (did the rest as negatives). Total of 25 pullups, 50 pushups, 75 situps.

Fall plans: Grand Rapids HM, and maybe another half marathon that is local (the one I tried to do last year but skipped due to a big lightning storm).

That sounds like fun! I doubt you'll see much of a 30s crowd there, however.
My daughter is 3, and I'm already scared of the teenage years. She already acts like a diva sometimes...

I work with a bunch of guys who have older kids, and when they found out I was having a kid, they told me a tidbit of wisdom: For the first 10 years, girls are easier to raise than boys, becuase boys tend to be more aggressive and they get into more mischeif, etc. But for the next 10 years, boys are easier, because everything is a drama with a teenage girl. That's full of generalizations of course, so I hope nobody takes this as offensive or sexist. Do any of you parents of older kids agree?

Hmm. That doesn't have much to do with fitness, do it?

QOD: I'm thinking I'll run Twin Cities again this Fall, but maybe not. My running desire/mojo ebbs and flows. I'm hoping it kicks back in full force when the weather gets better.

It's kind of pathetic that 6 degrees above 0 felt balmy this morning. I didn't need a hat! WOO HOO!

I prescribe Hot Toddy's Mindi! I suppose you can't really have one before or during work though. They always make me feel better when I'm sick.

I think parenting teenagers in general - boys and girs - is so so so hard.

I have my gym bag and will be running at the gym right after work. Unless it's super nice out then I may just go home and run outside.

I would say this is true for my girl. When she hit 5th grade she started caring what her friends thought and the drama began. Constantly.

My boy isn't quite a teenager yet (11 1/2), so I can't say for sure. But I don't imagine it will be any easier with him. Parenting in general is hard. But I have to say that I actually long for the "troubles" of toddler-hood and gradeschool. They were a piece of cake compared to this pre-teen and teen stuff. I think it's because the stuff they are dealing with now, and how DH and I handle/react to it, really seems like it will affect them long term.

DS is going to be 14 in May and his surly stage started last year and we're now smack into a Tsunami of disrespectful behavior. It's terrible, noone is safe from his wrath.

Update: I asked his counselor how things were going at these sessions and it sounds like DS is like a bump on a log. His counselor said "he's sitting on something" but apparently hasn't had any luck drawing it out. 4 more weekly sessions have been scheduled - initially we were going weekly for 4 weeks and then every other week. $igh. But if this helps it will be worth every single penny. I love my son with all my heart and soul and I just want him to be happy and successful.

Brandy & Baggs - I'm working on Jason, he told me he'd prefer if, in the not-so-distant-future I ran a marathon at a locale he wanted to visit anyway; he probably meant somewhere near Yellowstone but this surely fits the bill as well.

Kids: My teenage girl has been amazing so far. All I can really complain about is her unwillingness to go to bed on time and the slothfulness which that causes in the morning. The 6 year old boy is sneaky and not forthcoming with the truth at times, but he's predictable so we can head things off usually. The 4 year old girl scares the sh*t out of me!

Hi all - just some walking (almost 4 miles worth) and yoga; I'm kinda' pooped out from not enough sleep, so the latter was cut short a bit (I am looking forward to doing the whole DVD - it's the Power Yoga DVD from Rodney Yee I ordered up from Netflix (thanks for making me realize I could order these type things off the service, BigG))

Maybe a short little easy peasy run after work. I'd like to race this weekend JFF, but not sure whether I want to stay local Saturday or going into SF for the Chinatown NYD 10K on Sunday. I could get up later for the Saturday race, but doing the 10K in Chinatown would be the first time to do a race thrice for me (I've done the SF Marathon thrice, but every year was a different course.) Hmm, we'll see...

B&B - noice! I'm envious of you two

Fall Plans: I think these would vary depending on where reside at the time. I would HOPE that I'm in a more centralized region of the country by then...
