Yes, my tri is tomorrow. I am a nervous mess. The race has cut off times, and while I don't think I'll have any problem meeting them, I can't really have anything go wrong (like a mechanical on my bike) or I might.

On a positive note: the storms I was concerned about thankfully moved themselves to the afternoon!

Rest day for me as my knee has been bugging me - not sure why. It has the achy feeling I get when there are dramatic changes in weather, but that hasn't really happened. Hopefully more sleep over the next couple days will help - I slept terrible last night.

I am in for the Naperville Half Marathon on Sunday. Looks like terrific weather - much unlike my half marathon a couple weeks ago. Not sure what to expect, but I am planning to race it rather than run it as a training run. It should be interesting because it is on a crushed limestone path. Should be nice and flat, but that type of surface isn't very condusive to fast.

Good luck you guys!

Ran a few miles this morning and was really dragging. Not sure why, though. I took the last couple of days off so I thought I'd have lots in the tank. Who knows. I'll try to get a long run in this weekend at some point.

Tri peeps! (Tonya and Theia) Kick ass! :)

Runninlaw - a crushed limestone path? Hrm. That could be... interesting. Kick booty!

Me: upper body weights are done for today. I still need to figure out some core work. Tomorrow I have a local 5k, the Fuzz Run. Biggest 5k in the state, I think (at least they boast that it is). Not one to push for a good time (unless you're a 14-17 minute finisher) as there are far too many walkers up front. (or those that want to get their personal best 800 meter run, followed by a walk), but it's a fun event, nonetheless.

C25K W5D3 for me. The 20 minute run. It went pretty well, just stopped to tie my shoe once. Group run tomorrow.

((Lora)) - as hard as the break will be, you're much better off in the long run to let it really heal.

Good luck to Tonya, Theia, Ailerie and Mindi and any other racers!

Thanks! I've spent my morning much as you spent yesterday.

So went to see Doc and told him about my hip aches. He got me up on the table and poked and prodded and bent me up like a pretzle. Or tried to. There's a bit of loss in range of motion in my hips. Which I already knew. He said there is definitely something going on, listed 4 options, and asked where I was in my race season.

Me: I'm not training for anything specific, just maintaining mileage.

Doc: Would you be willing to take a break?

Me: [giving Doc the look] My parents are sucking the life out of me and you want me to not run? That's not an option right now.

Doc: Ok. We'll wait till we get these test results and see.

The option he hopes it is, considering where I went to college and the progression of my various issues, is lyme disease , because he can fix that. I'm not really sure what I think about that. I mean, jeez.... lyme disease? Still, if that's it, maybe he can actually fix me and I won't have to deal with any of this this crap any more. Man. I can't remember what it's like not having to work at being healthy.

So, that's one. Or it could be arthritis (thanks mom!) or bursitis or.... I can't remember the 4th and don't have his notes in front of me. So I had @10 xrays taken this morning, then to one lab, then to another lab. Have to go back to another lab on Monday. And doc should send me an email in 10 days to see what we need to do next. Possibly an MRI.

In fun news, I just picked up a Bollywood dance workout dvd from the library for some cross training.

BigG I agree with what you wrote yesterday, too. I feel selfish sometimes when I try to explain that to people who don't run (and thus, likely, don't understand). But around here, I think we all understand where you're coming from.

I got my foam roller today! So now I have to learn how to use it to its best potential. Hmm. I think Lena will want to play with it, is the only thing.
