Bard's thread had both some fun and fitness references, but more fun than anything.... so I'm taking a chance and starting a fitness thread for the day.

So far, all I've gotten in is thigh work. Meh. Still have core + weights to do at some point.

Hiya. I tried to run on the TM this morning at home, but it seems to have died! Ack! Well, sooner or later I'll look into it, but with a vacation looming, I won't have time for that for a while. Now, instead, I'll try to leave work early and get in the run in the afternoon...

Yay for vacations, bOb! I am hoping to get out early today too, but it just depends on how everything I need to get done works out.

Good luck Brandy on that workout! GRP is always a killer for me. I was thinking of you this morning during my run and decided I have workout envy. I'm going to have to start picking up my game! :)

As I mentioned in the fun (aka leos are awesome) thread, I got up bright and early to get 12 in. It was insanely humid (94%), but only 68 degrees. So all in all, a very pleasant run. Best part was my pacing was a bit quicker again and my last 2 miles were my fastest miles. The down side is that my hamstrings are still sore for Tough Mudder AND running 12 wasn't the smartest thing to do the day before a 5K. But my schedule is what it is this week and Chicago is the main goal so I am moving forward.

I am super frustrated because I am still up a few too many lbs. I put on my favorite jeans today and they were tight. Gah. I am in week 5 of decent training and I have been eating well so I'm not sure what is up. But clearly I need to shuffle some things around and kick it up a notch. Bleh.

morning!

I worked LATE last night at a special event for the Philly 3-Day (thought I might see Beaks there? but I didn't realize what the event was till I got there cause I've been away/disconnected, so I didn't get a chance to text ya!). Got out at almost 10pm, to bed late, and then up and out the door at 5:30 this morning for a 13 mile run. It was humid but the temps were in the 70's so it wasn't as bad as it will be later today. Heading back to work in a couple hours. I'm definitely working too much right now for my summer break. Hoping that'll change in another week or so.

Mindi -- re: extra lbs and training: I always seem to be up a few lbs in the first weeks of marathon training. Then, right around week 12 or so, all of a sudden I'm down a bunch and go into race day at a low/race weight. Not sure how that happens, but it happens pretty consistently! And, Happy Birthday!

And RFTL -- I'm working on a recap of the Napa trip, with reviews of all the wineries/restaurants/resort/etc. IF you read nothing else, know this -- get yourself to Chappellet. It's in Napa, but hands down the b.e.s.t. place we went to. In Sonoma, you have to go to Ferrari-Carano.

Yoga last night, which confirmed I'm all kinds of uneven left vs. right. Ah well, I'm sure it will improve over time. Golf tonight and softball tomorrow.

wow that really just was TEH SUCK. I started out with 4 miles warm up. For the first 3 miles of the GRP, I was really struggling to get to pace and not being successful.. this should feel easier. I then told myself, after 3 miles you can get some water. Well, 3 came before the water and I just had to stop. My calf started to cramp up something fierce and mentally I just needed to stop running. I stood there stretching and thinking about how far I am from home for about 3 minutes or so. I then psyched myself back up and I ran back about a mile, got water then (another break), ran 0.5, had to walk, finished 0.5 and said, F it....I'm done at 5. The last one was almost 15 seconds slower than it should be and I was just feeling rotten. I stopped and got water 2 more times. I even had to walk during the freaking cool down because I was cramping so bad. I swear I almost sweated out a couple of pints a every time I would stop, I would have to wring out my shirt. Ew. It isn't even that bad out (low 80s with mid to upper 60s for dew points). I got home, drank 12 oz of gatorade some ensure (because I was feeling sick to my stomach). I went to take a shower and weighed myself and whoops...down a full 6 lbs. In 11 miles.... not good.

So Mindi - don't envy that w/o!

Re: a couple of lbs - have you tried logging your food for a couple of days to get a real idea of what/when you are eating? I try to do this a few times a month just to check in. Especially when I run, I find it super easy to rationalize a little of this and a little of that. I come to find out that the 5 miles I was running that day was allocated to that dessert, then those chips and later on a chai latte

So, now to clean the house and work in the garden. I am sooo not looking forward to either thing....must stop and get coffee.

Truckload of core work for me this morning. No run, and i don't know if I'll run tomorrow either. Foot is not happy about the state of things, and standing on it for 6 hours yesterday didn't help.

Anyway. Better now than a couple weeks before GR. I still have time to get back in the game.
