I don't have a fun title for the fitness one.

Taking today off. Walked both beasties. One fast & long and one short and slow.

How's that for a Fridayish report?

More that one is always a good sign!

4 miles last night around 8 PM. Turns out my DD's plans changed, so I could have run in the AM as per my usual, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Tonight she will definitly need to be out til 10:30, however, I may need to be with her now. I was hoping to get in 5 or so tonight. We shall see.

Good morning, guys.

Yesterday was a day off for me. Third week in a row that Thursday was the only day I didn't run. I guess I've fallen into a routine...

Today I'll get in a couple easy miles. Tomorrow morning I have the 5k race on the airport runway. I don't know what the weather is going to be like at 8:30am, but I did hear that tomorrow will be sunny with the afternoon high in the 90s. If it's warm early, then it'll be really hot on the tarmac. And thus not very condusive to fast 5k times. We'll see...

I took the day off as my knees were a little sore. I am also going to order a new pair of shoes from Fleet Feet. Better nip this in the bud now before I run too much more on worn out shoes. Wouldn't it be nice if good shoes lasted longer? heh.

Bob that sounds like a neat 5k! So is it an out and back kinda deal? Or a loop? Good luck!

I was hoping to do an organized event this weekend. We're going camping with the inlaws so I'll miss a 5k here in town. There's a tri going on near the campground but there were no teams looking for a runner. Wouldn't it be funny if I signed up to do the whole thing then dogpaddled my way through the swim, did an easy ride on my bike (which is more of a commuter/mountain bike not a road/racing bike) then did the run. People would be like, "What the hell is this one up to!!??" hee hee!

I am bringing my running gear, though. And my snorkel gear.

3 miles of hills this morning followed by some laps in my pool. Man, did that feel good! The pool...not so much the hills...

6 hilly miles this morning. Think I'm starting to get used to the weather. Today's pace was about 30 sec/mile faster and felt easier.

Off to watch the tour!

Clare - if it's anything like the tri T did back in June there will be plenty of people doing just what you described and they don't look anymore out of place than the uber-competitive folks do.

boB - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you so it's not too warm.

Morning Gang -

TC 10 Mile lottery results are up. Who made it? My DD didn't.

Sounds like an interesting 5k Bob! Good luck!

6 miles done this morning with a few hill sprints mixed in. Ended up taking yesterday off (except for maybe 5 minutes of core stuff).

DS packed his own bag for camp last night. He'll be gone 8 days. He packed 1 pair of underwear. When I told him he needed to pack 8, his response was "no one changes their underwear every day mom. 1 will be enough."

Good runs to all today!

Good morning everyone -

Only a few more weeks until I can get back on the road. Yeah!

For those who were thinking of improving their 5k times - there was an interesting article in Running Times a few months ago.

Hi everyone! Woo hoo for Friday!!

Cindi - bummer DD did not make it.

Coach - hang in there!!

I was *this* close to going into work early and planning to run in the afternoon. But I woke up early (just before 5) and felt wide awake. I decided to get up and run rather than go into work because the likelihood of me running when it is 90 degrees and my kids are around would be nil. And I couldn't afford 3 off days in a row.

So I went out and got in 8.5 hilly miles. I felt great and it was so nice to get out there.

I am super excited. Tomorrow my family is participating in a bike race. Last year DS and I did it and he had a huge crash within the first mile. For the last year he's told me he would never do that race again. 2 weeks ago when I asked him again if he wanted to do it he said yes! Yay! I am so proud of him and can't wait. We are going to start in the very back and just take it easy on the hill he lost control on last time. Hopefully I'll have some pics posted over the weekend of all of us in our sweet bike jerseys.

Weren't you giong to hit up a running store and get some analysis done before getting new shoes?

I think I'm acclimating to this weather now too, though it seemed in the beginning like it was totally impossible and would never happen. Strange and amazing how the body can work and adapt.

RFTL - bummer for your DD. And as far as DS and the camping underwear situation - gee-ross! Sigh. But I totally know how it goes. I had no idea that boys were so loud and gross to live with.

1/2 mile walk with Le Freak this morning. Maybe 3 sleasy miles tonight. According to my plan I'm supposed to run 8 at MP tomorrow and 16 long on Sunday, but the marathon training group runs their long runs Saturday mornings and I'd like to have the support and company for the long run. It's okay if I switch those runs up, right?

Happy Running everyone! It's a beautiful day outside! Well, at least in the midwest it is.

Hi all - waited 'til the early evening, but I got my brick workout in. 22:30 on the bike trainer (decided I didn't want to go out in the heat too early) with 5 min warmup followed by 1 min intervals of big chain work coupled with 1 min ez. Then slipped on my running shoes to knock out 3.25 mi in 27:30 or so. Definitely felt the relative lack of bike work - my calves were threatening to go into seize mode the whole first mile of the run.

Aiming to go for a swim workout after work tonight.

Clare - pretty much any short-distance tri will have folks like you mentioned in it; it's pretty cool to see, actually.

RTFL - I guess you'll the hazmat suit for that one when your DS gets back (hope he has fun regardless)

RiL - glad to see your DS getting back on the saddle

Good luck to all our racers this weekend (boB...anyone else?)!

Morning all! Got out for 10.65 miles in this morning's soup with a great group of ladies, aka Team E! (Elyssa, Eissa and Eve - yeah I only felt mildly left out) :) My left hammy/butt is still not 100% but only mildly noticeable.

Good luck boB! And Colleen, if you jump in – sounds fun!

(((Meg))) - Cindi, are there any other races she can train for of similar distance?

Good luck Mindi to you and your clan!

Heather – one day at a time, you can do it!

I'm also racing tomorrow morning to ascertain my current fitness and feeling less than happy with how warm/humid it'll be but hey, it's July - what do I expect? ;) Anywho, a 4 miler in CP to benefit the park's conservancy.

Good morning. 4.7 recovery miles for me this morning.

Bob, you did this race last year, right? Good luck. That tarmac has got to be hot.

Not sure if you can call what I'm going to do racing, but I'm running a 21k up at the ski slope on Sunday. Should be interesting and hard. I run up there sometimes and the trails are mucho hard with a highly technical section.

RIL, that sounds like such a great time. Enjoy the bike race.

Enjoy the camping trip Colleen.

Thanks for asking. It feels ok - a little sore from time to time.

I can stop using the air cast in a few weeks (that's not my foot in my avatar btw). I'll probably keep to the treadmill at first to lessen the stress on the ankle.

Hey all,

Yesterday was a day off for me, too. Today and tomorrow will be easy as it looks like the 1/2 Marathon on Sunday is a go. Temps should be in the 50s with a stiff breeze.

Good luck Racers!

Good morning!

In the office early, but I escaped at 5 - ish to go to my gym. 3 miles on the dreadmill, plus lots of lifting.

Running seems to be . . .sort of stuck in first gear. I have a call into an ortho to start getting my knee examined. A year of PT solved my ITBS, but the knee just doesn't function the way it should. I've been very stubborn about avoiding the battery of tests that is undoubtedly in my future. Went through this once before, and it took FOREVER to get a diagnosis... But, really no choice at this point.

Heather - you'll be back in no time!

Coach - looking forward to seeing you around more, and reading about your progress!
