Morning gangstas

No running for me today. Race tomorrow. This will be the 3rd year in a row running this race. Only real goal is to beat last years time (21:36). I'd be blown away if I could slide in under 21 for the 1st race of the year. I told DW that I was excited about racing this year and she asked why, and I told her I was gonna race more 'balls out' this year. She said I needed to find a nicer term. But I do plan on racing harder this year, no more second-mile-sandbags.

Good luck out there today.

BBS--you could inform your wife that "balls to the wall" is actually an aviation term. Or, if she is stocking up on LifeBoy soap, I suggest you find a nicer term.

Jill--have some coffee to share? Enjoy the rest.

I got a big ol' goose egg for today. Got a call at 5:30 that schools were on a 2hr delay. Looked out the window to see (not see???) white out conditions. Needless to say, Shortly before the delay expired we got a second call stating that schools were closed. Since we are out of snow days, I can only assume that things are very bad out there. Alas, I will not be venturing out today.

It is starting to snow here and much more is on the way during the day and overnight. The kids did not sleep well last night, so that helped me have a not so good night of sleep. So my run was less than what I wanted.

4.30 miles in 41:21(9:37). It was all nice and slow.

Nice job resting today.

kfuller - nice recovery run

4boysmom - Bummer. We were supposed to get a significant snow but only got an overnight dusting.

Jill - enjoy the rest day.

BBS - You could say you are going to be racing hard but that may get a similar response. Good luck tomorrow.

With light snow it was slippery underfoot so I decided to switch it up and go to the indoor track rather than suffer on the TM. I had thought about going 10 miles but decided on a 1 hour run. I managed 66 laps (~8.25 miles) on tired quads and tightening hip flexors. Judging my the attire I observed, there must have been a fire sale at Under Armor. One short older woman had on a ninja compression running outfit, even down to black running shoes, suitable for outdoors. She was with a very tall and skinny older guy in tights, Under Armor top and size 16 shoes. Seriously the weirdest thing I've seen on the track in ages. As I was leaving I heard them talking about ballroom dancing...

Hey all -

BBS - sometimes you just need to say it like it is....

Jill - enjoy the rest. tomorrow group run is at the irontron trail, this will be a new trail for me.

mom - better you than me.... We have lots & lots of rain but I am not complaining because it's not snow.

Yesterday was an easy 4m run on the TM. Nothing special, but it got done. Today is no running but will have a core workout today at 5.

OK.-- here is my shoe issue. Last weekend I bought a pair of shoes from a store that I don't normally shop in and they didn't carry my usual brand. I have used Saucony in past and he gave me some of them but suggested another brank. I thought "what the heck, let's try something new". Ended up getting Brooks Ghost and they felt good in the store but last night the arch of the shoe is not feeling good. I have a new pair of kicks and I don't like them. I will give them a little more time to see if they improve but I have to admit that I am bummed. I will probably go back to the nike zoom and stick with what works. arrgghh.

Apple--I've been wearing Brooks Adrenalines forever. The past few years have been with custom orthotics. I need to have the orthotics redone, so am running in new Adrenalines without the orthotics. I am finding that the arch is too high, something I hadn't noticed when I put the original insole in retired shoes. I've been meaning to swap out with an older insole. However, it seems that once I get out there, I don't notice it.

Hi, all. Flyby for me today. Will get out for five.

BBS -- How about "balls on the table"? Now, they're not just rudely "out," but rather politely "on the table," bothering no one.

mom- thanks for the info.

The funny part was I got this impression that runners in the store were shoe snobs and true runners dont use the Nike brand. There was even a comment about how Nike deluted a real running shoe and made it "common". Someone else mentioned that people who care about name brands would care about a swoosh symbal on their shoe. I like the brand because it works for my foot. Wierd, I didn't even know I wasn't part of the in crowd.... so true to my life.

Hi all, quick fly-by after no-post yesterday.

6 easy for me last night, except for 2 x 800 at 6:20ish pace. Racing Sunday -- 10 miler.

Not sure what I'll be doing today, probably a brief XT session when I get home. DW has a long run of 8 or so tomorrow and I may do that with her. It will be at - for me at least - a very easy pace and won't take anything out of me for Sunday.

Shoes - I'm finding that less is more. Saucony Kinvaras are my primary training shoe, Brooks Green Silences for racing, Nike Frees for interval work. I keep one pair of

'regular" cushioned neutral shoes around, right now a pair of Adidas Response Cushions, for my easy run days. But other than that, I've been on the minimalist bandwagon for 3 months now and haven't looked back.

Good evening. Now begins the saga of what to have for dinner. Nice job on all of the running and such today. As far as shoes I have several pairs of different shoes. Brooks adrenalines, Brook ST racers, Asics etc... I enjoy all of them.

Apple- I hope you figure out the shoe issue.
