On this day in 1924, the first execution by gas in the United States took place at the Nevada State Prison in Carson City as Gee Jon, a Chinese immigrant convicted of murder, was put to death.

Absolutely slammed busy. Apologies for no shout-outs.

Me...

3 mile relaxed run early this morning. Wanted to go farther but stayed easy and short on purpose -- long run tomorrow, where I may attempt a foolish little feat in doing a favorite hill 3 times. Followed by...

40 lap tempo swim. Pool was closed as I arrived. But I knew that because LRR, the great friend that he is, called to tell me so. Still, I was already en route to the pool and needed a shower anyway. In the locker room I decided to hit the kiddie pool for some drills. Splashing away for a few minutes like a 2 year old, I was informed the big boy pool was now open. So already behind schedule time-wise, I decided to punch through 40 laps. Average :56 secs per 50 yards. 57 secs if you include first 5 warmup laps.

Gas those workouts, Tri-Terminators!

AM - 45 minute strength
75 min masters
WU 300/200kick/100pull
MS:
6 x 50 (descend 1-3, 4-6)
3 x (300, 200, 100) start 1:45 base and descend time between, though we did the first at a 1:40 base, then things got out of hand. Too many people in the lane, started knocking into each other, so the sets started to ascend.
CD: 4 x 100 FRIM (free, back, breast, free)

Lunch:
25 minutes on the treadmill to stay awake, just over 3 miles. Also signed up for an indoor tri on Feb 17th. Should be fun.

Great job everyone!

Finally back from 5-day long business trip. Did the last speedwork on TM (just because they had 30cm of snow in Canada!!) and easy run of 4 miles on TM and some relaxing swim so that I wouldn't forget how to swim for the meets this Sunday (yikes!). Will run the last longish run of 11 or so tomorrow. Wit that, my taper wk #2 will be done. Too busy to get obsessed. It was a good thing. Boy, I was hungry all the time and ate like a pig according to my colleague. Probably gained 5 lbs. The weather next Sunday looks like upper 30's snow/rain. I can live with that, I think. Maybe time to sign up for the race.

First run after hurting the ankle...an easy 3.4 miler. Ankle's feeling good though I must say it's extremely hard to keep the HR in Z1 when you're running into a 15 mph headwind.

TGIF!!!!

I think that if I even think about running, my HR goes to z3. ugh.
then again....maybe my numbers on the gadget are off.

Got a test today that will help with more accurate numbers. Will send the results to CS so that he can tell me what to set the gadget to.....
I understand the concept...but sometimes the report details get to be a bit confusing without someone going over it with me using "little words."

Heidi, Julie, Heather, we have to focus on your trainer workouts, so you don't need me to laugh at in those Spinervals

Neil, sounds like the right thing to do!

Pete, that's not that bad, my first Oly swim was 61 minutes.

Me, still resting....

Reg., I love that drive on US4 over the bay and past the Wagon Hill. Unfortunately it's usually after going to Newicks so I have fried food coming out of my pores . I have pictures from when I was maybe 1 or 2 years old playing at Hilton Park. I too love that area.

Me: 3mi run on the TM. Somedays that's all there is time for. Funny how my shortest run all year used to be the longest run I ever did in my 20s.

Keep that atropine handy tri-peeps!

forced myself to rest. Had 1:15 spin w/ hill drills and :45 run on the schedule but this cold-sinus thing I've had a couple days now did NOT get better after yesterday's run... which tells me it's either a virus or I'm too run down to fight it off. So opted for rest and in hopes I'll get my killer 2hour run in tommorow which sickly enough, I'm looking forward to!

Then watch DS4, DS7 blossom into young Green Belts. DS7 rocked the house. DS4 is doing pretty good for a 4yr old

Thanks, Stitch, for reminding me of what I need to do. At my first meets a few years ago, I did opposite of everything you said. With little warmup, I swam hard. Sat down. In cold. 15 minutes later swam hard again and sat down. After the 3rd event, I felt so sick - couldn't eat/drink. I have learned over the two meets how to warm down immediately to get my HR down, get relaxed and keep hydrated and eating small bites. It will be fun just to hang around with the club friends.
