On this day in 1997 in Roslin, Scotland scientists announce the successful cloning of an adult sheep named Dolly.

1000m in the pool this morning for me.
400m WU
360m drills
6*40m (30 sec rest)

did a longer warm up (for me) and curtailed the mainset. Tried to focus on keeping my feet close together and high, to try to be long and streamlined in the water. Running tonight.

Rest day for me, but I just wanted to pop in and say I can finally join the group of breakthroughs we've had in this forum lately!! I swam last night with my other group, and within the set was 6x100's - I've been struggling to get my 100 times below 1:20 over the past few months, and last night I consistently hit 1:17-1:18 for the set! Yeehaw, the workouts are finally paying off!!

About 30 mins in pool this AM - feeling out of sorts with a lot of activity going on (Masters swim; ARMY ROTC splashing up and down in another lane). No idea how far - but wasn't feeling in esp. good form ...

No lunchtime exercise, as Anglo teeth require an unpleasant trip to dentist.

DD9 is off into the teeth of a snowstorm today to swim one of her two events at the 12&U New England Age Group championships (100 Fly); Sunday I get to drive down (4 hr RT) and sit (2-3 hr) for 35 seconds of swimming (50 Fly).

Wishing her well - probably won't finish near the top (seeded 26/32 for 100) - although an outside shot for a top 10 in the 50 (17/35-40 or so); no matter what, she's had a heck of a season so far.

Diver actually, but I was in the pool constantly. Our coach did make us swim occasionnally just to mix things up a bit, but never competively. Funny thing is now I've found that I love swimming so much I wonder why I chose diving over swimming

Another interesting fact about toay: 1732, the first president of the United States, George Washington, was born at his parents' plantation in the Virginia Colony.

2600yd straight swim in 44:13 for me. This was supposed to be an easy swim for me and although the pace was very easy, the workout was not. The reason being: The large pool at the Y was broken, so I had to swim in the small pool. The size (20 as opposed to 25yds) wasn't the issue, it was the temp. The large pool is usually kept around 80 degrees. The small one is the therapy pool and kept around 89. I felt like I was being cooked during my swim. After my workout, the guy that always swims next to me commented that I looked like a lobster and I found he was right when I looked in the mirror. My face was the worst, but my whole body looked like I had a sunburn. Good lord, I hope they get that big pool fixed soon!!

1hr easy run this afternoon.

Great workouts to all!!!

I ditched my workout yesterday. Sheldawg told me to run. It was 40 and POURING. So, I was going to hop on Mikey...Don came home w/a migraine...I wasn't in the mood.

So-have my running clothes in the bag. Run after school...and then I have to run the talent show.

Tithers HATES talent shows. The PTA really oversees it, not me, but WTH thought it was a good idea to to put on 26 acts? WTF.

So. It will be a looooooong night. I'm sure some acts will be terrible. I just hope it's not reflected upon me. I have nothing to do with it!

10 miles this morning for me. A bit under 9 m/m. Unusually slow for me. Had a running partner for the first time in a while and he ended up walking part of it toward the end.

LookiLoo - congratulation! Hard work does pay off. sometimes it just takes a while till we see it.

Finally we got the snow storm we've been waiting for. 3 inches over night, still coming down and turning to freezing rain. Yea!!! (doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough to shut things down around here). I'm working from home this morning, but hoping to get outside to x-country ski later. And, I'm getting on the trainer at some point for a 90 min ride. Then, when it's dark, we're taking the ATV out 4 wheeling in the snow. I LOVE a good storm!!

2 hrs inside on the trainer this morning in front of mindless teenybopper shows that feed my need for mindless entertainment.
Then, out for a 30 min run....
I swear...not less than 8 minutes after I got home, it started pour down rain again.
My timing was AWESOME!!

Winter wonderland here in Boston. I'm feeling better but still under the weather from the Flu. Boy was it nasty. My lungs are as raw as can be, my head sometimes hurts, I often am sweating, which certainly beats having the chills, and when I blow my nose I can hear squeeks in the tear ducts in my eyes and sometimes in my ears. Yeah, I'm all screwed up. The good thing is that I'm getting in a full week of SOLID rest. You just wait until I'm fully recovered. The bad thing is that I may have to put to bed my marathon-a-month streak, which I was supposed to continue this weekend with month number 18.

Beth: The storm that hit you earlier is now waloping us here in the Northeast. Started at the crux of morning rush hour and promises to last all day and night. Will be a fun commute home later today.

Neil: Too bad you're on that side of the pond, because with jokes like that (read: bad, but silly-funny), you'd fit right in with me and LRR on our little long runs, where he tells all sorts of silly-funny (read: bad) jokes.

Me...

4 mile run early this morning before the snow. Lungs still raw. Had to constantly slow down because the heavier breathing coupled with the extreme cold was burning my lungs. Which is amazing, really, because only a week earlier I was doing speed work in even colder temperatures, and my lungs were fine.

Good weekend, Tri-spokes!

Actually, I think the improvement in speed may be from my flip-turns getting faster. I don't feel like I'm moving that much faster when I'm swimming, but I feel like I'm flipping faster. I dunno...

Crap... I thought I had a good swim this morning. Knocked another 3mins off yesterday's time. WU 300, MS 100, 200, 300, 400, 400, 300, 200, 100, CD 300. Did it in 1:03 and I thought I was smokin'. Then xflbk43 does the same distance is 44:13. Guess I'll just head back to the kiddie pool...

We got the "wintery mix" overnight, making my run quite interesting. First bit was on the road, which was plowed and a very slippery packed snow. Next bit was on the sidewalk with a couple inches of snow with a layer of ice. I had to really pick my feet up, otherwise I'd trip. Then, there was running though what the snowplows threw. I ended up cutting the run very short. I have a long run tomorrow, so needed to save something for that! Today was my slowest run in a long time. 2.78m, 26:28, 9:31pace.
