Easy 10 last night.

Scheduled for a rest day tonight, but I might go more than 6 if I'm feeling up to it and push the easy day back to somewhere around Feb 4th.

Right now, feeling kind of sickto my stomach so I don't know what's up with that. Not throw up sick, just sharp pains every once in a while...

Hope everyone gets February off to a good start.

Planning on a few recovery miles later on. It looks like I'll be "working" from home today as my car does not have a snow plow attachment... there's a good 6 to 9 inches down in my neighborhood and it's still coming. Hello February...

TGIF everyone!

Rest day here with a long run tomorrow, but I'm going to be sure to do at least an hour of yoga.

I had a great run last night. 8 miles on the treadmill with 7 at marathon pace. I just felt like moving and really got in a groove.

RichardC, send me some hills!

Mailbox Head -- sounds like a good plan!

Happy Friday, rest day/recovery day/run day, everyone.

Ok, I'm the sixth person to post and we don't have a mile yet, collectively.

Dropped the car off for annual inspection and some routine work and ran the seven miles home. Needed a three-minute walk break at Mile 6; otherwise I would be positively ecstatic about this one.

Stupid Math Dept.: After a scant 88 miles last month (my worst total in a decade), I am on pace for 203 in February.

Good runs, all

Hey--I'll post some miles for the day!!!! Somewhere around 3.6 in 31:57. I say somewhere around because this is a regular route yet my garmin will give me anywhere between 3.5-3.8. Whatever... it's a decent run.

We were supposed to get a winter storm with a 'wintery mix' over night. I got up to find that it had only rained, os I headed to the gym. Freaked me out, though, to hear that schools--especially Columbus public--was closed. Uh oh, maybe the roads were worse than I though??? On my run, I found only a few slick spots. No effect on my run.

Oh, slow, painfully slow swim this morning. Worked on form. Need to get together with the swim coach again because I cna't remember half of what we worked on yesterday!

hey guys out of the request of Alex, i can make a brief return. i started student teaching and have No time! i'm up at 5:30, at school until 2:30, off to the trainers, practice until 6. crunches and ice and shower. i eat dinner at 8. work on lesson plans until 10 and go to bed at 10:30-11. It's just been intensly crazy. i love it though. about my injury when i fell, i had to take three weeks off. it's been a long journey. i just started really running this week. they think i have a bruised hip and tendenitis in my knee, but things are slowly getting better, as i may hit 40 miles this week. take care all!

So...no one has run yet. LOL. (EDIT: sorry mom, you posted while I was posting. Great job on your workout this morning!)

I have plans for a lunchtime run, but we'll see how I feel then. I might do it after work, otherwise.

Dave -- regarding your question yesterday - a few weeks ago I ran 10 miles at MP, about 6:58 pace. I remember it was during a week when I was going to get more than 40 hours at work, so I took 2 hours for lunch and ran it then.

I do want to make a correction from yesterday's run - I logged that my total time for my run yesterday was 1:15. That should have been 1:18. I'm just being honest here.

OK, so now we're getting the truth!!!!!..... It seems that 1:15 is actually 1:18.... so was 1st at Omaha really 21st??? Is "Team Nebraska" really just Bob from the local gym????? Any other "corrections" you want to confess to????

Just a couple miles at race pace planned today to make sure everything is working as it should

Well, I'm not going to go against the grain here. No run today. A core workout later though. Slept in this morning which felt great.

Rainer - Yep, I'll be in Tacoma whether I run or not. Friends are doing the M. and of course I want to cheer Brian on. May run the 1/2. Would be great for the 3 of us to connect and get a west coast pic up on this site!

SGH - Got hills here on Vashon if you want some. Will trade hills for snow!

Mailbox - You didn't do any of those supersets that were being tossed around as a training aid the other day did you? Feel better.

Good runs to all...

Arrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! You have the same sense of humor Phillip has!

I'm just being truthful. If you want to know how honest I am, ask Phillip. I'm always upfront about anything and everything. It's just easier that way.

Hi, all. Eight for me later today. Should be cold and slick. But I'm doin' it.

I see many of you are on "teams," which I presume are teriffic motivators. How does one get on a team? Right now, I'm averaging about 35 MPW, which I expect to increase as the weather improves. And I'm considering a fall marathon on the Pfitzinger 18/70MPW program.

Anyone want me?

Hey Rob, I think the team competition may be over for now. Looks like they do it periodically though. Glad you're keeping the miles up with the challenges of work and weather. So, what sayest thou? NE or NYG? I gotta go with perfection. The Giants deserve to be there but...

We are almost done with the current round of the Virtual Race. When the next one cranks up, you are definitely invited, wanted, eagerly awaited.

Good morning from wet, cold Virginia. It seems the snow that the midwest is getting is just heavy rain here. The temps are at that "just warm enough to not snow" level -- 34F. Ick! I hate this type of weather! Even I'd rather have the snow than this crap.

Not sure of the workout for today. My plan says "recovery run" but given the weather conditions I may try to steal away to GMU for spin class. The proposal I've been working goes in today, though, so it's hard to predict if I can pull that off. Better get cracking so I can make enough progress. Back later!

Still not many miles today..... i didnt realise friday was a day off

did my pace run. didn't feel great (still dealing with stomach issues that kids have kindly shared with me) and almost bagged the fast part completely, but after a couple draggy miles warming up i managed to get my legs moving and tried to do 2 miles at about 6:35ish....

first half mile @ 6:32, followed by 6:44 (oops - lost concentration), picked it up and did 6:28, 6:27. averaged 6:34 overall and the 2 miles was pretty flat. heartrate wasn't really steady and was still climbing at the end of the 2 miles.

So i guess i'm ready to race on sunday, and 6:40 pace (1:27:30 ) is probably OK overall - assuming conditions are good. unfortunately i also have some more aggressive goals that i will go for if i have a good start. and the course is very conducive to a fast start (plus i have a problem with initial race pacing). 4.5 miles net flat, then 2 miles nice downhill. so i'll probably get halfway thru a good minute ahead of plan. then it goes out and back, and finishes with a short, but steep climb.

i'll be really happy with my goal of 1:27:30, but also kinda have this gut feeling that i have a 1:26:something or 1:25:something in me, waiting to burst out!

guess we'll see.....

Good morning all. I don't usually post here but wanted to share my morning's death wish run:

62 minutes on very technical mountain bike trails in the dark (started at 6:30 am) in freezing rain. Duh! It took a good 10+ minutes longer than usual.

Anyway, somehow I survived. There is a portion I go up at the beginning and down at the end that is about a 75-100 ft climb over only about 100 meters. It is covered with rocks and loose rubble. By the time I was coming back, all the rocks were covered with a layer of ice. I literally crawled and slid my way down...

Not my brightest moment, but it was still fun...
