Good luck to the racers this weekend! Surf City... and who else? When do you guys all leave for California?

No run for me yesterday. I felt quite worn down, so I needed the day off. The schedule calls for a day off today as well, and I am not upset at that. Usually two days off in a row make me antsy, but I think I need it right now. Hopefully this rest will recharge me for the Mercedes next weekend...

Great runs to everyone!

morning Bob and everyone else!

Today was a rest day for me, too, but I went to the gym at 5am this morning anyway to do a solid weights/core workout. I need to be more consistent with the weights --I've slacked off with that and it's bugging me.

Good luck to all our racers this weekend -- I know we have Voo and Nettie in Surf City. Just noticed Oache and Liam are there, too. Who else is racing this weekend???

I didn't run. My butt is sore from the kick, Maria.

Good Morning!

12 to do today. I'm not sure if I'll head over to the bridge again or just run on the TM. I stayed up to watch Lost last night and then couldn't fall asleep until really late, for me. I'm normally in bed by 9 and sleeping soon after, this is why we have TiVo...tired this morning.

I did sign up for the Gate-River Run last night, DH said it is fine! A couple of questions for you guys that know the course: It looks like there is a smaller bridge in the beginning and then a bigger one right towards the end, right? Also, what is the deal with a 15k? I can't decide if it'll be fun like a half or 3 times as painful as a 5k, I guess the pacing is right on that "pain" edge. I have no idea what it'll feel like. Does anyone know anything about the hotels up there, we would like to stay somewhere nice and that is close to the race? Thanks guys/gals!

I hope everyone has great runs today and you guys "in taper" are hanging in there!

Hello! Got in 5 mi on the TM at the gym last night. Wow is that thing BORING! I wanted to go for 6, but it just wasn't happening. I was about to kill my TM neighbors out of frustration and several people had already walked up looking to see when I was done since the gym was full and 4 TMs were broken!! I'll probably have to run at the gym again today, but Sat and Sun should be outside! Gonna be in the 60s!

I've officially signed up for Mercedes last night! I guess I'm gonna do it! LOL

JenRuns What run are you talking about? (I didn't read the thread yesterday so I must have missed it..)

Solar I too need to get back into my weights. I would have done them last night, but it was already 7:30 and I still needed to get home and make dinner/shower/etc.... Perhaps tomorrow. Can someone post the link to Theia's killer ab workout? I'd like to start doing it at home when I can't get to the gym.... Thanks!

Good Luck Nettie, Voo, Soli, Oache, and Liam!!!! I know you'll do us 30s proud! Have fun!

Ok, gotta get ready for work, like seriously. I have 13 mins and I'm still in pj's on my couch...

Woot, for signing up! I tend to aways wait as long as I can to make stuff "official". The Gate River Run is the National 15k championship up in Jacksonville in March.. I'm just so excited to be around so many amazing runners. I need to find someone who can recognize faces, it would be cool to get some signatures or pictures with some of the runners.

Yep, I don't always fall asleep right away but early bedtime is something I've always done. My mom said even when I was a baby/kid, I would just go to sleep around 8 or 9. This mileage is actually helping me sleep better. I regularly get in 9 (sometimes 10)or so hours. I think if I could learn to nap that would be better, maybe I'd have a social life...but I can't do the power nap thing unlike DH.

Good luck in Surf City Nettie, Voo, Oache, and Liam!

No run today, but I do have my 2nd 5K in that series tomorrow. Hoping that the course won't be too icy, as it's really wet today and the temps will drop back below freezing. The race temps aren't supposed to be too bad, though.

You're officially nominated to be the Surf City tracker this weekend.

Good luck Voo, Nettie, Soli, Oache, and Liam - hope the conditions are in your favor.
I have 6 on tap for today. I'm going to try to sneak them in outside before the ice hits. Gotta wait for nap time...

Cheers

Morning Gang -

Good luck surf city racers, and Bard and Jill. And any other racers I'm forgetting right now.

Frustrating work out for me today. Got up at 4:30 and went to club. I was supposed to do speed workout 4x1000m at I. During my warm up I felt tired. Started first interval and could.not.move. Ugggggh. About a minute into it I quit and decided I would be better off doing weights and biking and trying the speed workout this weekend. Only problem is DH leaves for Vegas so I'll need to get babysitter. I hate paying a babysitter so I can go workout. Not sure why I couldn't do the speed workout today. But I'm irritated.

Solar - I'm determined to do more weights and core this time around too.

Careful out there with the icy weather! We are having a warm-up in MN - gonna get to 25 today!

Good runs and rests to all.

I got in 8 miles last night at the Dome. Ended up with 123 miles last month.

I have a nasty headache that started yesterday and hasn't gone away. Sharp pain in the left front. weird. not happy. crabby.

Good morning...I had a cranky girl this morning, nervous about a test or something. She slept in her PJ's inside out and backwards, thinking if she did that it would snow like crazy and she wouldn't have to go to school. Alas for her - it didn't work. Truth be told, I was going to do the same thing trying to get out of coming in to work and then I recalled that PacerWife likes me to sleep flagrante delecto so I had no clothes to turn inside out and backwards (how's THAT for a mental image first thing in the morning?! Friday has officially begun!)

I have a friend from my lunch running group heading to Surf City as well...I forgot to tell him to watch out for a 210lb maniac with natty dreads and a Rocky IV beard yelling "Get the eff outta my way!" on any downhill. Good luck to the Surfers this weekend!

JenRuns LIke I said, I ran most of the GRR course on a training run with some locals down there...they commented that the hill at the end hurts a bit because of where it is, but other than that it's fairly flat. There are a fair # of turns though if I recall so if you're in a crowd, stick your elbows out on the turns to keep from biting pavement. 15k is a tough one to gauge for me...the math isn't as easy as a 10 miler. It's just long enough that you can't go out stupid-fast without paying for it at some point, and it's not quite long enough to get back time from a too-slow first mile. The only 15k I've really raced is a big one here in the 'Nati, but it's so hilly that I just let the course dictate which miles will be fast and which will be slow so I don't get too hung up on each mile's pace. I'd think about the first few miles as your 10k pace plus 5-10 seconds and see how you feel.
