Rest day here. Me, DW, & DD are gonna hit up the Expo this afternoon. Off work tonight for a good nights sleep and also off tomorrow so I can enjoy the post race stuff and not worry about limping home and getting in bed.

As for my goals tomorrow, I'll be happy w/ a PR (sub 1:42:57), but really shooting for Under 1:40. Really hoping I can avg 7:30 the 1st half, then kick it up a notch for the second if I have the juice. Looks like we're gonna have great weather. Should be mid 40s at the start.

ETA: Also, if any of you are bored outta your minds tomorrow, there is supposed to be a tracker at this race

http://www.stjudemarathon.org/index.htm BIB # 5598 Race starts @ 8:00. not sure what wave I'll be in... 3rd? I think they started about 5-10 minutes apart last year

Good luck, BBS! I like your general strategy of starting comfortably and finishing strong...but I recommend the following tweaks to your splits...take it out a little slower, at around 7:40 pace, then starting picking it up gradually in the second half. Try to average around 7:35 for your second half and you've got that 1:40 in the bag.

As for me...probably just walking today. I've biked the last three days and it's felt good, but I think I need a little break from it. Still a few days away from lacing up the running shoes again, so walking it is, probably followed with some weights or core.

Have great workouts everyone. TGIF!

Morning, folks.

BBS -- Bored tracking a fellow runner? Never! Thanks for the link. And +1 to exactly what Hawk said. The best half marys I've ever had started 10 or 15 seconds slower than HMP, and left just enough in the tank to torch some bonkers the last two miles. Good luck!

Hawk -- Good to see you're taking the time to enjoy some good workouts on your hiatus. Keep yourself (somewhat) sane during this stressful time.

Me -- Will spend 1:15:00 on the trainer, then some weights.

I've been looking for a tri bike for some time, and a former client is selling me his 7-month-old Cervelo P3, with a power meter, for a song. He's done Kona twice. Kinda' cool I'll own a bike that's actually been on the Queen K on raceday.

Now, I need some help naming her. Should be something alliterative, like my road bike, Madeline Madone. Cindy Cervelo? Sylvia? Doesn't seem to fit. Suggestions?

BBS--good luck!

Hawk--you have far more restraint than I do.

Guess it's gonna be a rest day. Hopefully that will set me up well for a long run tomorrow.

I swear I'm a-gonna sue Kellogg's. I got a 2nd degree burn on my thumb this morning. Pulled a pop tart out of the toaster, it broke, flipped around and the frosting continued to sizzle on my thumb. Couple of nasty blisters! Amazing how much that hurts!

BBS - good luck tomorrow... that PR is going down! Go a slightly slower in the first 5k, easy into your pace then hammer the last 5k.

Hawk - enjoy the walk o sensible recovery person.

4boysmom - that'll teach you to eat Pop Tarts. It was in the toaster, it will be hot. Just like McDonald's coffee is hot. Remember me when you get your millions.

A crappy 6.3 miles this morning. May just cross-train for a week as I'm just not feeling it.

Hawk - Smart recovery.

Chances - Sweet bike! Looking forward to reading about your first Ironman.

4BM - Ouch!

RA - I know the feeling or lack of feeling "it".

Me - 14 mile run this morning averaging 8:45 pace with a negative split. That gives me 40 miles for the week. It has been a long time since I have logged 40 miles in a given week. I think it has been at least 2 years. I will have to go back and look at my running logs. I am kinda curious. I am shooting for another 40 mile week next week but not sure if I will be capable while traveling.
