Hope it's okay that I start. 7.5 miles in the (very) dark. December's been devoted to lollygaggin-- uh, basebuilding--yeah, that's it, basebuilding.

FYI, I started a "goodbye" thread over on CR. I didn't want to just disappear without notice and thought maybe others might want to bring some closure as well.

Good weekend to everyone.

Hi Tramps,

I've been enjoying sleeping in the past week as I take a break from running...giving my left AT a chance to heal. I may start up again tomorrow AM as I'm getting a little antsy to run again.

I've been thinking about the Snickers Marathon on March 1 in Albany, GA...anyone else looking at that? It's within a reasonable drive from here in NC and it looks to be a nice, flat spring run.

Good runs to all today.

Hey Tramps and Peter
Tramps, good idea on the closing thread at CR.
Peter, You are obviously in great marathon shape judging by that Charlotte performance. Just be careful with the AT and strike while the steel is hot.

No run today, XT after work.
Like Peter I haven't run this week. No injuries, just free lunches and lots of snow. Oh well. Nov/Dec are my slacker months.

Long swim today. 1.2 miles or 2100 yds straight. 44 minutes (36:40 pace).

Whine of the day. My 44 min time is a close estimate because as of today, 5 out of 5 clocks at my pool are BROKEN! 4 portable poolside clocks and a 3 foot diameter wall clock. Sheesh. I use a pool clock to count laps. So I took one of the portables, and as I walked out of the pool I told the pool director I was taking it home to fix it. He said....ok.

Good Morning -

I haven't posted in a bit. I was getting a little nervous prior to my hernia surgery. Both my kids had the same procedure done during Thanksgiving and couldn't move easily w/o pain for several days . . . Unfortunately for them, I must have passed on the defective belly button gene. Anyways, I had mine a week ago and all went well. I think they give adults stronger pain medicine . I feel pretty good now - only a little discomfort. I'm supposedly not suppose to run for 6 weeks . . . I don't get it . . . I feel pretty good now but know it's still tender - but 6 weeks? They say walking is good so I've been TMing. I did 2.5 miles this morning at 4.5 mph with 1% incline. Boy, it's slow and the calories burned is pathetic . . . I didn't even burn off a candy bar! I'm trying to be good and not do too much at once, but I seriously feel like I could run - my legs want to. So, I hope no one minds if I just post my walking miles for now. I'll have to see how fast I can push the speed up and still call it walking.

Good runs and cross training to all!

Guess I'll post both places for now. I have few enough friends as it is, and can't afford to lose even the virtual ones!

No running today, but tomorrow looks like a decent day for a morning run. Good runs to all those out there today!

Hi Pink!
4.5mph is not slow if you're walking! I'd relax a bit if you are just one week post op. But I'd also go back and explain you are a qualified athlete and will not be waiting 6 weeks to run your first step. You and the Dr. need to compromise.
Not heading to CT much anymore :^(
Pink - sorry that you're out for 6 weeks, but glad the surgery went well. 4.5 is pretty fast for walking, there is no way I could walk that fast on the TM. You must be pretty tall, or else its power walking. Post away!!

I have a cold again, grrr, at least this one isn't hasn't drained all my energy. But rested last night since I was feeling pretty rundown. Instead I spent the time on the computer looked for plane tickets to socal, so I can go see Wicked with a girlfriend in March I booked the tickets. woohoo! Hoping for some TM time tonight.

Found out some interesting news at work yesterday. Starting in July they started bring in outside air (they actually changed the system) & amazing thing thats when all the breathing issues started, extra dust & big allergy issues. I am actually doing better than before (except for about a week after they change filters), but a co-worker has had major problems & they had to move her downstairs, & now more people are complaining... I'm sad so many people are having issues, but glad its bringing it to a point that its not a "isolated incident" as they were claiming. I'm hearing next step is testing the air upstairs (where I sit) & hiring a 3rd company that specializing in duct cleaning to clean the ducts. So, maybe this will help to
alleviate the issues! Gotta tell ya, I am relieved its just not me being a PITA! lol

Hey Lab! We all luv ya! Take care of yourself, and hope to see you posting soon.

Hey Tramps! Glad to see ya here. Active has me really po'd. My profile is Live and Learn & it won't let me change it... are they trying to tell me something? I have been at KR for awhile, and it feels much more like home.

Gotta jet! Hoping for some activity tonight....

Yuck, 6 weeks seems like a long time but better safe than sorry.

I had this done on one side in the dark ages--1984--back when it was a major incision, no mesh, etc. I couldn't walk for a freakin' week. Then I had to get the other side done a few years back and couldn't believe how much easier the procedure had become. Hang in there.

Linda--good luck; it's good that they finally recognize the problem is real and needs attention.

Hi Kicksters.
I love being off work. Get to sleep in AND run routes I wouldn't normally do. After a 2 mi warm up with Tory, I went to the Duke Forest trail that I haven't run on for a year. It' a VERY hilly (as in take you breath away steep 200 footers) 4 mile loop. Looking back in my log (thanks RunningAhead!), my fastest previous pace was 8:32.
Today I ran two loops (8 miles) and averaged 8:04... a huge PR!

Nice runs Tramps, Millbot, and KS. It's a good thing you guys are working hard because it seems like a rest day for everybody else.

Pink.....don't push it. Those 6 weeks are to let the "patchwork" heal properly. So......let it heal.

Some fun outings this weekend for me....tommorrow is a planned group marathon training run. Sunday morning is a group trail run at Haw Ridge which is sure to include plenty of mud. I might get in a few miles this evening just in case, because the weather report is pretty iffy for the entire weekend and something might get cancelled.

I'm planning on 3 miles after work of which I am planning on sneaking out early. Like all good aerospace companies they shut down between Christmas and New Years so this is my last day of work until 1/2!!
I flattened a skunk on my way to work this morning, I couldn't avoid it...it was right in the road as I rounded a corner and it became paniced and ran in circles. I hit the brakes but got it with my right front tire. My car STINKS!!! Any ideas on how to get rid of the smell? Will it air out by the time I get back home?
