1:30 on the TM, speed work. Even with poor sleep and what not, i had a great run, the time went by fast and i was almost saddened that i had to finish and get ready for work
Abs and girlie pushups after.

Great run last night!! 6.5 mile loop on the roads. A bit windy, but I felt pretty loose, and it really just felt GREAT!

Day off tonight, DW and I are going out for dessert and drinks!

Off day for me today, though I may stop by the gym and do a little bit of upper body lifting and stretching. Tomorrow is the Hagg Lake 50K which is know for its mud; the vintage this year is said to be particularly fine.

The RDs of the race sort of come across as party girls (NTTAWWT) This year they are having a contest for which guy looks best wearing a running skirt. I thought about this but couldn't find anything that didn't make my butt look fat.

I've lost over 5 lbs since Shorline, by severely restricting calories. Today is a one-day carb-up WOOHOO!! Junk food!

Sounds like everyone is having fun today apart from some people with guilt pangs over recovery.... hint hint.

11 miles total, 6.2 (10km) at about 7:20 or Half marathon pace, last 2 at or about 8:00 or Marathon pace. 1:26:40.

As an editorial comment... When I looked at the Pfitz 18/70 plan I knew I could do the total weekly mileage but I wondered how on earth I'd handle the individual workouts, you know, the 20 milers, the ones like today.

I think the only way to do it is one day at a time. And then before you know it you're 8 weeks in and wondering where the time went.

Have good ones all.

50k...ugh! Good luck guys!
Grizz - interesting comment, I'm looking at the Pfitz 70mpw plan for later this year, and that day at a time thought is worth keeping hold of.
8 miles of easy trails for me today, about 1'10.
Good ones everyone, especially the recoverers!

That's a good philosophy Griz. I constantly forget it, especially in races, where it changes a bit to....just one mile at a time.

For me it was an outdoor run....first one this season at the mine. A hilly 7.6 miles in 1:19, on strong legs that were still strong at the end. The sun was a very nice touch, although there was also a strong wind on the way back that would have been biting if the sun had not been out.

A mostly mind-numbing hour on the elliptical for a cross-training day. It's my own fault for being too much of a wuss about feeling cold and wet in the pool, though. A swim would have sure been more interesting and challenging!

Grizz, that's a really good approach to training. I've basically been doing close to the Pfitz 55 mpw (shortened) plan and this peak week have had the attitude of "just focus on today's workout," which has been nice.

Hippo - Good luck on the 50K. Someday I'll understand how you ultra folks do it.

Some nice efforts out there today folks! Keep up your awesome work!

As for me, the science project continues. This is the 3rd cycle in a row I've broken the "Contract with my body". So far, my body hasn't decided to go on strike.

Still experimenting with the 4 on, 1 off idea. So far the body has responded okay. In fact, I think I actually feel better with a short easy run on the day after a long run than if I take the day off.

Sidewalks had a bit of black ice tonight from snow melt refreezing.
Run Segments
Forced day of rest due to a lovely stomach bug beginning last night. Barely made it through the work day! Feeling better now, hoping I won't be too dehydrated for the marathon!

movingon, hope you feel better soon. My poor co-worker had a stomach thing. That's so miserable!

Isn't your race this weekend? Sending you massive get well vibes! When I had my stomach bug last week, Gatorade was a lifesaver -- maybe give that a shot?

5.96 miles with my garmin in 48:03. I didn't want to run this fast today but the guy I was running with sort of pulled me along or we pulled each other along quicker.
