45 mile ride. Beach was the busiest I've seen it all year; look s like lots of people were gearing up to watch Irene - although the waves looked disappointingly small to me. Cruised pretty close to Dan "DaVinci" Brown's house ... some impressive palatial homes down in Rye ... Also, saw a recumbent tandem. I think that was a first...

First 30 miles were at a wind-assisted 20 mph; finished the ride in the 19s before spinning it easy home for the last mile or so.

Off to 30th HS reunion festivities tonight and tomorrow ... at least I'm about at goal weight (finally!). Will probably squeak in a ride somewhere on the morrow, though not sure I'll have the energy to get up for the early AM group ride. Still fighting a summer cold...

Did P90X plyometrics this morning, and going to the pool tonight.

Trying to mentally gear up for another ocean swim tomorrow. Been seeing all kind of shark stories this week....(gulp). Fortunately the one at a nearby beach was a fishing situation so they were pretty far offshore. But a beach in San Diego has been closed down twice in the last 24 hours because of something with an 18-inch dorsal fin. EEK!

Ran 12.12 miles this morning; HR zn 2 with my usual long run 9:1 run:walk intervals. Was really more mentally prepared to do this run on the weekend, but #[email protected]$! Irene wasn't going to make that pleasant. Still, hoping to get 5 miles done on Sunday; I will run loops in my immediate neighborhood if I have to! If not Sunday, then Monday.
