Equipment: Nike Pegasus 04/11

Warm/mid 50s - Sunny and very strong winds. Crawford/Puckett/Security/Widefield to trail to Dean/Cornell/Widefield/Fontaine/Grinnell/Crawford/Upton/home. Short easy run. Still not feeling great. Getting really tired of the wind! Stretching afterward.

Thanks to Dougie's late posts, I was this close to post today's workout on yesterday's (or the day before yesterday's). Way to go Dougie! Great to see you getting back at this.

I don't think anybody said 40 is old. I absolutely don't think nor feel so. I am in the best shape of my life as I age up to 45-49!

Good luck, Ron. It takes special guts to sign up for 1650yd at State Meet.

7miles incluindg 4miles at MP. Windy/rainy and cold (ok low 40's but it is APRIL!) but didn't want to run on a TM. It was a good pace practice at a local track. HR has been low and MP feels totally a conversational pace (but of course I didn't talk to myself, like Mike didn't on TM). But legs don't feel smooth. They just feel like learning how to run the first time or something. I got to pull out old log books to see what I felt in the past.... I am planning to run 36miles this week (6 days) - I am wondering to cut back (maybe skip tomorrow's easy 4miles, after 3500+yd swimming), or stick with the plan (40% less than peak volume).

Foam roller session and strength workout for me today. Also managed to score a visit with my physical therapist/coach! It's nice to finally have a better idea of what's going on and what to do to try to help it. Learned about the retinaculum and the extensor hallucis longus tendons. Was subjected to ART and some "light" Graston. But, ankle feels looser.

State meet - I won the 1700yd ! WOOT!

Ok, now a word of caution... I was signed up for the 1650. I was counting and knew where I was at. My counter was counting and knew where I was at. The little timer girls ran the bell on my last lap, which confirmed both me and the counter. I get done though and the officially is like "I'm sorry - the girls made a mistake - you need to do another 50!" My goggles were off and I'm just staring at him in disbelief and said "REALLY!?!?!?" so I put back on the goggles and ripped out another 50. Phew, not like I had just sprinted that LAST 50 or anything. Ouch. Anyway, I get out and go talk to them and I hope I wasn't rude but I was looking for more information. I knew I had hit one flip badly, so figured it could have been that. So I asked if they'd looked at the splits - they said yes, but they'd go over them all again. I asked my time - 27;xx or 28:10 (neither spectacular, thought I'd do better, but both better than 2 years ago so whatever).

I went and talked to my team and explained what was going on and thanked my counter, telling him I thought he was spot on. His GF was watching and she also thought he was spot on. So I went to the cool down pool and did some cool down, because the 1650 is a special kind of suck and the 1700 even moreso and I needed a cool down.

Anyway, at one point the official comes back over and explains that I was right all along, they've reverted my time and they're very sorry etc etc.

Later in the meet they came by and gave me a little stuffed dog and annointed me "winner of the 1700"

Well,I can now tell my kids I did indeed win a race! ROFL

I'm pretty sure I was 3rd in my AG. first was 18min. Second was 25. honestly, I was hoping for a 24-25, but I have swam only once in 2.5weeks and I'm in Ironman training so I really shouldn't expect anything much!
