Morning!

Off day from running. Tried to do the "beginner's" ballet dvd this morning. Um...... no. Not working. So I did yoga instead, and it was deeeeeeelicious. Really ought to do that more often.

Next I'm going to go for one of those things outside with the Beastie. I haven't said a word but he is already trying to herd me towards the door.

Hola all. Rest day for the legs today, though I might get tomorrow's run in this evening, allowing me to get an early start on Saturday for other stuff. Arms/Core are on tap for some part today.

Day off from work for me!! So I'm gonna do a long-ish run today. That way I've got two days to rest (or at least take it really easy) before the New Haven 20k...

Me too Me too on the yoga. I did it yesterday and it was a great start to the day. And I just got a Yoga DVD from NetFlix - the Ali McGraw one. I've done it before and I think I liked it. My favorite is still Bryan Kest's Power Yoga - there's three and I think I have the first one. Energy maybe?

I did a short tempo run last night. I've really been kind of a slacker on the speed work. I've done more hill running than tempo runs or intervals. Speed work seems to trigger that shin thing so out of fear I've been avoiding it. Prolly not a great idea to really pick it up NOW when it's 30 DAYS UNTIL TCM! So anyway, I had 45 minutes tempo on the schedule yesterday and I did 30 minutes. One mile warm up at 9:20 pace then 15 minutes at an 8:30 pace (which was actually a skosh faster than I was supposed to run according to McMillan calculations) then half mile cool down back home at about 9:12 pace, which I meant to be slower but o well. I always feel good running speed work and would have run longer but I've felt really good during the speedwork sessions before and then the next day when I go out for my run my shin is shot. So, I have a 5 miler on tap today, I'll see how the shin feels! It felt fine on my walk in to work this a.m.

5 phenomenal miles this morning. Big storm came through and the humidity is gone. As well as the heat. Not supposed to be out of the 60s for the next few days.

Thanks for reminding us Goon that TCM is a month away...and for intimidating the hell out of some of the people who are supposed to run it with you by posting that workout you did! :D

Rest day. May run a local 5 K tomorrow, more as a fitness test to see when I am at more than anything.

New Haven is not happening for me - heading to my sister's house for a BBQ at 11 or so. One year I will be there...

KP, we have the same weather and it was glorious this morning. I have 5 slow recovery miles. The sunset this am was glorious. Also did some arm weights. WOO HOO - it's Friday!!

Enjoy your day off, Bob.

Nice work on the tempo Goon. I have not done ANY tempos this season. But I have done a couple races and continue to do so until Chicago, so that counts, right? ;)

Took the day off yesterday - was feeling a little run down, plus I had to go pick up my z-pack from Costco. At least I got in 30 min of walking around the warehouse warding off temptations to buy stuff heh

Debating between a swim and a run today - might do both if the mood strikes me

The gene that makes runners fast is the same gene that makes them inflexible.

Do both! Do a swim/run brick. They're my favorite. :)

Good luck to Maria and Bob at New Haven and Litch in the 5K. Anyone else?

Me!! I'm doing a sprint tri tomorrow. It's a nice short one, but the super fast girls are all signed up for it. Oh well! It's supposed to be fun, right? :)

Safe travels to Maria and Bard this weekend.

Little miss evil this morning and 2 miles before hand, since I never fit it in yesterday. That was C25K W4D3. I'm not sure if I can make the group run tomorrow or not, but I'll get the run in sometime over the weekend.

Gah - no surgery for duck I hope!

I am also in for a 5K this weekend. Wanted to do 10K, but my DS is doing 5K and I don't want him to finish before me and be on his own for 20 more minutes.

= work right now.

Just had a fun lunch with DH though and he instructed me to dominate this afternoon. So I think I will.

No, I was referring to my OTHER one, the one that got sewed back together a few years ago. :) Most of the folks I've met with Achilles problems have been former sprinters (soccer, football, basketball, etc.) folks.

GOOD! BTW I had achilles problems a few years ago because I overpronate and was not wearing the appropriate stability shoes.
