4 miles at 5:30, much of it walking. I feel like I've really lost my focus this last week or two. I think I was so enthusiastic about getting into it after the baby was born that I set my expectations too high. Now I'm feeling sluggish and overwhelmed. Starting back at work has not helped. Not sure where to go from here.

I have a scheduled, much needed, rest day today. But, I did not report yesterday's run so here we go..... First, my foot is incredibly better, as I reported earlier this week. I x-trained for three days, got some prescription anti-inflammatory, and went to the triggerpoint therapist. So yesterday, first run back was a scheduled 6.5 tempo run and I blew it out of the water!! I was really pleased...plus, no foot pain today, but lots of leg soreness!

Happy running all!

Jebba- take it easy on yourself, you are making major transitions in your life and they are bound to show up in your running!

Jebba - Some days are like poooop - Specially when you are getting back into it. I would just run to run for the next month - Go slow, walk if you want -

One idea - Go for time and not distance - Go on routes where you are not sure how far they are and just go for 30 or 40 minutes or what ever time you want.

Your body-mind-heart wants you to work out. In the long run its even better for your family - just fit it in 3-4 times a week and try to do it for the joy of it.

Hey Jebba, I guess we're both in poop mode. I ran in to work very slowly and bailed on a running buddy for another 3 miler once there.

6.75 miles of poop.

Jebba - I wasn't a runner when I had DS and I stayed home with him for a few years, but going back to work was a huge adjustment and very draining at times. I'd do what Flounder says ... just run for the pure enjoyment of running, and don't make it a chore. When you've adjusted to your new demands, you'll probably find it easier to stick to a schedule.

Rest day for me today, although I *want* to run, which has me feeling pretty upbeat. Long run tomorrow.

Toe Jam - Whoot! for having a great run! Really glad it didn't end up being a Stress FX!

Jebba: I feel your pain - I'm just back to running after a 2 year "road trip" at work.

I'm on week two of my 'return to running'. It's only been the last two runs (both 3 miles) where I've been able to sustain and run the entire distance. It's a far cry from where I was at one point; but all the more determined to get back!

3 miles at 6am this morning - very cool temps low 60's. I felt pretty good the entire run. No clue as to pace/time - my guess is just slight slower than a snail; but then a lady in a walker did push me out of the way 'cause I was holdin' her up from her mornin' bingo game!

any run is a good run when it's been so long since you've enjoyed one....

Happy Friday to all

60 min spinning this morning-may try for a little something else this afternoon to rack up some extra VRAA points
Jebba-Everything is much harder when you have small children. You probably don't even realize how sleep deprived you are. When is the last time you got 6+ hours of uninterupted sleep? I really believe that even with the best training/nutrition your runnining takes a big hit if you are not getting enough rest. And enough rest may not happen until the kids are a little older. Hang in there, try not to be so hard on yourself-being a mom is a workout in its self!

Stay strong jebba...we're all rooting for ya. Adjustment time is needed and soon you'll be out there again. Have faith.

Rest day, super tight calves once again.

I finally got off my arse and ran again today. I blew off running Wednesday and was going to do it Thursday but another sleepless night put an end to those plans. So, I did Wednesday's run today, Friday's run will be done tomorrow and Saturday's run will be done on Sunday. I'll get back on track next week by skipping a rest day later in the week.

If you're still with me, I ran an easy/moderate 8.25 miles averaging 7:50s. The weather was perfect for running. Warm and sunny, but dry.

SGH's legs died sometime during the night of July 13, 2007. The cause of death is unknown but believed to be related to a very hard pilates class the previous day. Details on a memorial celebration will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be sent to the non-profit organization Girls On The Run.

Despite my "loss" I did 12.5 miles on the Dismal Swamp Trail this morning. Except for feeling like I was shuffling in place, I felt great and enjoyed myself this morning.

At mile 11 an inmate crew was picking up litter along the highway shoulder adjacent to the path -- very creepy and that definitely pushed me a bit at that point!

I didn't see your 'shuffle' post before I typed in MY shuffle post....my legs were sleep deprived today.
I'd hoped to go longer, but the old legs were telling me to STOP.

5 miles trails. What awesome weather! I feel like a new woman.

It will be a challenge to get long runs in on the next 2 weekends due to travel stuff, so I am trying to not get anxious about how messed up my training plan is getting.

sistergoldenhair, I once rented near a state penitentiary. It never was an issue till one day I took a walk past a crew of men in orange out working in the farm fields. I definitely felt uncomfortable! Talk about avoiding all eye contact and walking briskly!

Your run today sounds great!

I have run on this path probably 100 times? and never seen the inmates there until today, so I hope it's a solitary incident. I avoided eye contact and sped up considerably.
