Started the day with 12.25 moh. Will get progressively windier as the day goes on.

Have a good day all.

Hi KS! Nice start to the day!

It hit me the other day that the weekday distances I'm doing now are farther than my weekend long runs were two years ago. Guess I'm finally doing something right.......

No running today..... will hit the gym at lunch for some core and hip stuff. Keeping up the strength work has made a huge difference in keeping everything aligned properly. They also have a foam roller down there that my hamstrings will need a date with.

Good runs, rides and whatever!

Geez, Gobi. Share a little of that. Although reading about Paul's run in 90° last night just made me sweat thinking about it.

Another day, another cranking run from ksrunr. Nice.

Heme, it's nice to look back and see how far you've come, no? I remember when a 40 mile week was a hugh thing to achieve. Now if I do less than 50, I feel like a slacker.

I'll whine a little bit more and then try to be done with it. Hit the gym last night (Planet Fitness) at apparently the same time the rest of Fairbanks thought of it, too. It was crowded and stuffy, but I was determined to get my miles in. Miserable 45 minute slog on a treadmill that didn't seem to understand what 1% incline means... The last half mile I dropped it to .5% and oh my, what a difference! I think that treadmill's 1% is like my 'mill's 3%. Seriously. Why can't they be more consistent? How hard is it to make sure 1% means 1%? I don't know, but it was hard and I took a lot of breaks. Sweat like a horse and could wring out my running bra afterwards. Gross. One of those runs where you're so thankful to be done, you almost want to cry. Anyhow, 5.1 miles in 45 minutes. And as we drove home, the sun had come out and the snow had stopped... Figures.

Freezing rain and snow last night made this morning's drive a little dicey. Will hit the gym again at lunch, don't know about a run later. Got stuff to do.

Morning all..

Nice running KS....that's my typical weekend LR

Yep Heme..you've made Serious Improvement over the past few years

Have a great race Gobi....pace a whole lot of 'em to a PR

Welcome to the high tech 21st century Rip...and BTW, take from someone who's job is occasionally pretty physical,, you have to run FIRST.

Have a great vacation Mr. Excitement, but don't eat anything out of the gulf.

Yeah, as for me, Hows this for IRONY???. As stated above, occasionally my job is physical. Sometimes I have to bushwack up and down hills, over uneven, rocky terrain, carrying a 20lb backpack, a 10lb tripod in one hand and a machete in the other. Sometime you fall down, sometime you crawl over or under brush. I'm not whining, just setting this up.

My favorite running route in the woods behind my house is also pretty rocky & rooty in places. Occasionally I'll roll an ankle. Again not whining, just setting this up. I heat my house with a wood stove, because the fuel for the most part is free. The wood stove sits on a hearth about 1" (2.5cm) above the floor. I've got a throw rug in front of the stove as sometimes an ember'll spit out when you open the door. The rug is supposed to be flush with the brick hearth, but the cats like to sleep on it and they scrunch it up over the hearth a little. Guess where I'm going.

So I get a nice fire goin' yesterday after work and go to stand next to the stove as it was freezing yesterday. I put my foot down on what I think is the edge of the hearth like I always do only it lands wrong and it's half on the hearth and half on the floor 1" lower. It hurt a little, but 15 minutes later it Hurts like Hell. Half an hour later I can't put any weight on it and I've been limping around on crutches since. I'm hopin' I didn't break something. I think (hope real bad) it's only badly sprained.

So, inclosing, good luck at the Pear tomorrow Tamster, I had plans to remove my trench coat, leap outta the bushes at mile 6, and pace you to a 3 minute PR, but it looks like I won't make it. But, with all your speed work of late, you CAN DO IT YOURSELF....Go Tamster, run one for injured Johnny...and BTW, say hi to rindaroo (if you see her, she's run/walking the 5K with a bunch of people from her work) and Laura.

Lastly.....I miss Choovie a whole bunch too Erika.

ETA: I'll do a monthly milage summary tomorrow.......GL Boston runners........HI HappyFeat

I finally ran outside this morning...sort of. I saw our local track team running through town when I was running a few errands so I went up to the high school to talk to the coach. (We have run together off and on for 30years) I ran with him to check on a slower runner and then we did a lap on the track. He is just getting back after straining a hammy in his last race about 6 weeks ago.

I got in 3/4ths of a mile in the cool rain before coming to my senses and heading to the fitness center.

I really needed a recovery day so I kept the pace a little under 8:30 for most of the way. Ended up with another 9 miles in 76:00 at 2% incline. I am definitely planning on running outside tomorrow as the weather is supposed to really warm up.

Nice run KS after your speedwork the evening before.

Gobi is running another marathon???

Heme, I am with you on the miles. After running a total of 11 times over 4 months last year, I am running 9 miles on my easy days. Our weather has been so crappy this year, I was running outside about a month earlier last year. It may be a shock to some of the outside runners when it goes from 30s yesterday to 80 on sunday.

Sorry to hear about your foot Johnny. Hope it is just a tweak and will be better in a few days. I did have a garmin a few years ago before I had my injury and loved to wear it when racing. It is easy to get gapped in a small race and I could run against the clock getting splits more often than every mile. I have it set to give me splits every 1/2 mile. The only reason I didn't get one sooner is because it was so easy to just get on Mapmyrun and see how far I went.

oh John, that's awful! I hope it's just a bad strain and you'll be back to normal, back to feeling better, soon. I bet you said bad words yesterday didn't ya? sorry you won't be able to make it tomorrow. Jenn Shelton doesn't appear on the confirmation list anyways, so at least you know you won't be missing a bikini shot this year either.

I'll give you a call after the race and let you know how it went.

Ice, Johnny, ice! I find that my ligaments are so stretched out these days that an ankle roll hurts like an SOB for a couple of hours and then I'm fine within a day or two.

Hey, I just had something interesting happen. I couldn't get a cursor initially, then I'd started to type the post, intending to do a one-liner and then edit, when I made a mistake and hit "Clear" down at the bottom. Lo and behold, the box cleared and there was the cursor! Cewl!

Glad my LR is scheduled for tomorrow, as the temp's supposed to hit only 14°C. 21°C is predicted on Sunday, along with thunderstorms. Going to be a good day to stay indoors, eat popcorn and watch the Master's in hi def!

Heme, if you type a little, then toggle the Source button on and off, you'll have a cursor, no problem. Though I'm typing on a different machine than usual now, and I'm having no posting issues at all. Tres strange....

Oh Johnny, so sorry to hear about your ankle! Yes, ice and elevate it, have a drink or three, anything to take the stress off. Hopefully it'll be fine in the morning.

6.25 miles this morning with my pal Larry at a nice and relaxed pace. Did I post yesterday? I can't remember... Anyway, I ran 4 at noon yesterday and close to 6.5 with the ladies at 4:30pm, so this morning's run completes my unintentional triple of close to 17 miles over the past 20 hours. The triple was supposed to be on Sunday, but the scheduling works out much better this way: DS will be home for the weekend and I need to drive him into NYC to take the bus back on Sunday morning. So after tomorrow morning's 5k I might not even run at all on Sunday.

Thanks Heme, I'll have to try that next time I'm on my laptop.

Sorry, Johnny, and just when my foot is feeling like new. I walked without the boot on, over to the high school for the ceremony last night and got an earful from DW. I'm wearing it here at the office as usual but when I'm not, like I said it feels good as new. Had a good lunch ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/77936960. No worries, Paul, I can't race 33 miles since I've never ridden that far.
