Ran a carpy 13.1 hilly route to work today. 8:41 pace. Legs were dead. All that fence erectin' and tempo runnin' this week left them exhausted I think. Also, I've come to realize this route is like running on trails. The sidewalks are all broken up, canted, and curved. It's not until the last two miles when I'm forced onto a wide shoulder that I can finally run a natural stride with my head up. Those last miles are the best.

Hey!

Tomorrow morning is the 10k and 5k that I am co-chairing. My main role in this race has been to get registration numbers up, and so far we are running about 37% ahead of last year at the same time. Woot! The weather forecast is terrific after 3 weeks+ of gray and dreary with outbreaks of violent t-storms, so we are expecting raceday registration to soar, as well. The only thing we are worried about is that the Hudson River is currently rising and flooding over its banks just north of the northern reaches of the course, and the next low point on the river is around the 2-mile mark of our out and back course; so, we could have some water or debris on the course Saturday morning, but we're trying to find a way to work around it. Maybe it'll be an impromptu Triathlon.

Yesterday was a rest day and today will be my Race-Day-Eve workout: 3 to 4 miles at 10:00 pace, with 4 to 6 100m striders embedded in the 2nd half of the run. This workout doesn't quite get me to the areas that may now be flooding over, but if I do go far enough to survey the area, it'll be too much of a workout for one day before a 10k in which I want to do my best. I have run this race a few times in the past, and don't expect to PR (43:51) but would like to break 45 again.

The most rewarding part of tomorrow should be the 5k, after I complete the 10k. I sponsored 5 new runners for this race and am planning to run the 5k with them, bouncing from one to the other. My wife will also be part of the field, but I don't expect to be able to keep up with her.

Happy marathoning KS

My hay is all in the barn too except my ankle feels like I stepped on a bear trap!! It will loosen up fine for the race but I will probably pay for it next week.

Mike, I am always torn between running on the uneven terrain to get a better workout in or the smooth roads to get a faster workout in for the log. I try to do a little

of both.

Glad you weren't in any of the destruction paths TW.

There has always been an Indian legend about the town I live in that it will never get hit by a tornado. About 25 years ago, a tornado demolished the next town over and

was heading right towards us. Two miles out of town, it lifted up and went away. I'm a believer.

Hi guys!

Good luck on all the races this weekend..... for KS, Rip and BTY!!!!

I got a tune up massage early this morning, then spent most of the rest of the day in the garden. Funny....I seem to have very little to show for it this year..... the veggie bed's still not turned and very little of the transplanting is done. Oh, well!

Late afternoon figured I needed a shake out for the legs before tomorrow's trail race, so hit the paths for a short twisty 2.8 mile outing. Much better!!!

Greetings, Masterfuls.

3.5 miles, easy today. A little sluggish, as it always is when I run a day after a good one. Warm, too.

I may consider a 5K in town on Sunday. Right here in town, so what the hell.

Good runs, all

Tammy, you're right about the crying in the crate at night. Maddy is still biting a lot so now in puppy class we have learned how to say "ow" in a loud, exaggerated way. Honeybee does her own version of that when she's had enough.

I had a good run yesterday but my HR is way higher than I would like during an easy run and my legs feel trashed so I'm enjoying a rest day. I will run my relay leg easy tomorrrow. Good luck to the racers!
