Well last night I gave myself a massage with some petroleum julley so I could actually slide my thumb around instead of just squeezing my legs. Did that for about 7 or 8 minutes on each leg. They still hurt when I went to bed but they feel a bit better today. I will definitely be doing that again tonight. I think at practice I may head out for a light jog as well.

Have a great start to your weekends everyone!

Long cardio today: 65 minutes of indoor cycling (spinning + stationary bike) and 25 min. of treadmill (warm up, easy run, cool down). My foot was only a tad achy and stiff feeling at first, then loosened up nicely. After all that cycling though, my legs felt like cement and I feel like I've forgotten how to run!

PT in a bit which means crazy balance disc & trampoline exercises plus some leg strengthening stuff.

Alex, hope you can get your calves to loosen up. Do you have access to a hot tub? Maybe a soak in that would help (or take a bath with epsom salts, available at most supermarkets & drug stores).

Alex, you're always the first. You're not a morning person by any chance are you?

5 miles easy. SNOW. Here it is April twentieth and we've got snow. My daffodils, tulips, crocuses... are all in denial.

Uck.

More physio today, but I'm optimistic.

SGH - My XC coach has one that I frequent, usually once a week and I already went in it twice this week with jets full power on my calves with no effect. So far my massage has been the most beneficial.

Griz - I always just hop on the computer after I am ready for school...otherwise I doubt I'd be up right now.

Good running guys! Keep it up! I ran 6.2 miles in the park on a gorgeous morning (46?F). Though there is still some soreness in my right leg (calf and hamstring), all systems seem to be recovering nicely.

I am planning on running a 5K tomorrow evening, though I won't be out to break any records. Our local running community has a yearly competition and tomorrow's race is part of the series, so I'll show up to get some points for myself and my team.

As always, may your runs be fun and your rest relaxing.

No run today after last night's good 8.25 miles. I'll hit the gym after work to lift, then enjoy Chinese food while watching the Sox/Yankees.

Cross training day!

Rode about an hour with my husband. Today was my first day using clipless pedals, and I managed not to fall over like TIM-BERRRRRRRRR!. They seemed to make pedaling a lot easier.

It seemed like hard work overall, maybe because it's my first outdoor ride of the season, or that I started off on a hilly road. But my legs felt like jelly by the last long hill up to our house.

It was a beautiful sunny day!

We passed a farm, and 3 horses (one white, one black, and one chestnut) were galloping around their pasture for the sheer joy of running.

6.7 miles in 55:39. Felt great. Shins were still a little tight, but they loosened up much faster today and it was smooth sailing after that. Lovely day - I'm starting to get a bit of a tan now.

Hi all

Drive by post tonight. Gotta go get my banana-strawberry bread out of the oven, and get to bed. 4am comes early.

What a great night for a run. Finally some warm weather. In fact, I broke out the sunscreen today!

Unfortunately, I have to get to bed early for overtime tomorrow, because after the 16 miles I still had plenty left in the tank.

Of course I was out of energy gels and low on Gatorade, so I could not go much further. I probably had 20 in me tonight.
Run Segments
Same as roots with Wed. and Thurs. off but today's run wasn't quite fabulous but I guess my calves are quite a bit better. 7.1 in 56:43. Felt tired and heavy the whole run...threw in 3x1:00 striders probably around mile pace or so.

Also hitting the hay early tonight,
