Who's racing this weekend? Rip and Gobi? Sic 'em boys.

12.5 moh. Might add another "h" for an expletive adjective for today's run. Uglyuglyugly. But it's done. Now for a shower, a short nap, yard work, and a short nap. :)

Hope today is good day for the kickstars

Hi KS I was up even earlier than yesterday. On the treadmill at 6:50.

After 4 days of tapering my legs felt a little too good so I went a little faster this morning. Even after 8 miles 60:00 2% incliine, I feel like I could go race right now!! Last mile was about 6:15 equivalent.

After reviewing the course, wind, temp, and previous runners feedback my goal splits are as follows

6:30

6:25

6:25

6:30

6:25

6:25

6:15

6:20

6:15

6:10

If I can achieve those splits, that would give me a time of 63:40. My original goal was 64 minutes but last weekends 5k predicts 63:17 so I will try to split the difference.

TW, my doc said no pool running right now and I was so happy! We joked about how boring it is and how it looks like you're just treading water to the average person. Do they make a waterproof iPod?

I ain't getting sh** done because there's no coffee in the office today.

tw, I still have snow in the dark places of my yard. Mowing will start late this year.

This chest cold is at its peak (I hope) and the congestion is heavy. I almost bagged it today but after getting up and taking some meds and fluid I decided to go out and try to move. 29F and sunny with no wind, not bad. Legs felt surprising good, but I just tried for a gentle GA effort. Progressed from a 9:30 mile down to 8:15 mile feeling much better for having run. 6 miles total. Then after finishing (TMI alert!) it was hack-a-rama time.. Plan is for a MLR tomorrow.

Now why in the hell would he want to do that? Go find some, Opie. You're not getting any work done anyway. Why no pool running?

Mike, I've been battling a cold all week, too. The worst part is the coughing and sore throat. But I feel fine when running, so I'm keeping that going. Just wish I could get a good night's sleep...

Heme, I sure hope you can get some relief for that foot problem. I ran in men's shoes once when the women's were sold out and they were just fine, and yes, a little wider in the toebox. I've never had the neuroma thing, but Opie and I can both comiserate on the metatarsal problems.

Go, Rip, go! That's an impressive plan for your race. And that's quite a streak you've got going, too. An hour minimum, eh? That'd be hard to fit into my life, I think. (and yeah, nix the sweats)

Go Gobi! I missed what you're racing, but I agree with Mike... watch out everyone! Is Mrs. G running, too? How's she doing these days?

Hi ks! Ugly runs are just another flavor. But nice to have it behind you.

I ran 6.2 miles last night on rotting hardpack and slush. Interesting combination of surfaces with some glare ice thrown in for fun. I do think my days of running in screwshoes are numbered though, as there's getting to be lots of dry pavement out there. Yay! Just need the bikepaths to clear and those shoes can be retired (about 1,000 miles on them now).

Someone found some coffee so I've been pretty productive. Erika, that's a good question about the pool running. You wouldn't think it would aggravate a stress fracture but apparently he thought so, and who am I to argue?

39 minutes on the stationary bike for "10 miles." I have my shiny new temporarily handicapped placard and was hoping to actually get a parking spot at the Y but the two designated spots were taken. Serves me right for trying to work the system!

You know that trick about how the brain fills in letters and words for you sometimes? I read this as "Ugly is just another flavor of GU."

I think Opie is on to something: no poolrunning AND more caffeine. Yowza!

I had a very successful post-haircut run, so I'm pleased. 4.44 recovery-paced miles with my buddy Larry, nary broke a sweat. It's good to run with friends.

Hi All. Just as Love covers a multitude of sins, sunshine covers a lack of warmth. 30 degrees F and sunshine, with a wind that can't make up its mind which direction it wants to blow.

I got ina great 7.5 mile medium-long run. Not counting the warm up and the cool down (total of 2 miles), I ran at an average of 8:03 for 5.5 miles. Nice progression taking the broader look, with the first 2.5 miles at 8:10 pace and the last 3 miles at 7:59 pace, but the pacing wasn't really a clean and neat progression run, due to the aforementioned swirling winds, and the fact that I didn't want to continue progressing in to the higher 7:40's or low 7:50's, no matter how good I felt.

Considering that I thought I wouldn't get to run until Monday, this left me very appreciative for time to run long at lunch time on a sunny March day, sub-freezing temps and all.

See you next week.
