I guess I’ll start the thread today if only to swear revenge on certain unnamed people, mostly from the Mountain Time Zone westward, who got a little carried away with Photoshop yesterday.

As for running, it was a pleasant 5 miles at a steadily increasing pace this morning. It was 24F, but not much wind, and at least it’s still dry. It’s still not as dark as it was just before the time change, so not too hard to see my way safely.

I missed the discussion on coordinate systems, but since I work in robotics that is always something that we’re working with around here: frames of reference, rotations, and all that stuff. You see people having discussions with their thumb, forefinger and middle finger arranged orthogonally and waving them around various ways, always careful of the orientation of the middle finger in particular. Next time I'll put you all straight on all this.

Riiiiiight.

I'm demi-working today: my clients are thinking and reading and chewing on a rather challenging set of recommendations I handed them yesterday. So I'll hang around here and that other place and be disruptive instead.

Roch, I want you to know that I was far too busy yesterday to have photoshopped your picture, but if you'd like, I'll set aside some time today and see what I can do for you

I'm mighty fuzzy this morning. I made my latte, decided to spice it up a little, grabbed the cinnamon jar, and had completed sprinkling it all over my lovely drink before it clicked that I was holding a jar of ground cloves.

If you scrape the foam with cloves in it off the latte, the remaining hint in the coffee is actually not so bad. Not that I wouldn't have preferred cinnamon.

Well, I did it again only this time, instead of saying, "There there, it's okay." Ralph says, "Come on! Let's go run 5 miles!" I grumble about not sleeping well to which he replies, "Well, I'm going running."

So here's the rocket scientist's predicted stats:

Roch, in college there was a Chinese statics professor who was "famous" for drumming into his students' heads this saying:[Chinese accent on]"Engineer's most powerful tool: his right hand."[/Chinese accent off] That was, of course, in reference to the right-hand-rule. We got a big kick out of it (as you can see, I still remember it).

I chose to sleep in today (again, Millbot!). I got up early enough to do about 30 minutes of hip & core exercises. I'm going to try to squeeze in an easy 3 miles on the TM this afternoon.

Hey, it's Friday! Have a great day.

morning all, hope your runs were good and have a good day. Quite a video Rosie!

Got my 21 miler in this morning @ 7:59 pace. Felt ok but it was a hilly course and I'm glad it's over.

Ahh Rose, the Aerosmith 'Rocks' album is my favorite from Boston Bad Boys! I definitely like it better than Toys in the Attic, which seems to be their most popular. I have Rocks on my iPod.

I'll probably workout later today, but the way my day has gone so far, if I make it home safely from work, I may not venture out again.

Good Morning people,

DW is off today, so she can devote 100% to worring about tomorrow's licensure exam.
But I talked her into going with me to get hard copy of some of my medical records for the past few years. Not as easy as it sounds.

I'm feeling good and limber, but I'll save it for the weekend runs. Maybe I'll talk DW into an evening swim.

GO RACERS!
I had a great workout with DH after my last physical therapy session. I walked 10 mins, then ran 20 mins, walked 2 mins, ran 15 mins, walked 5 mins and then stretched like mad for 20 mins. Also did 5 30-second planks, assisted chin ups, and 15 bench presses with just the bar. 25 abs crunches (argh).

up very early to get to the gym prior to hospital rounds and outpatients...first time I've had to push/pull weights around before 7am...learned that my body needs extra coffee to do real work this early in the morning. Pretty cool feeling post workout, though-almost like running, but not quite. Second 90 minute total body workout this week and my sore/weak muscles are keenly aware of it. Included in the sets were a total of 200 ab crunches with 50#'s-some straight/some twisting..ouch. I now have a 'two-pack'. I will never have a washboard stomach again in my life. A two-pack is as close as I'll get.
A recovery TM run made it even better.

happy Friday all!

Good morning. I took the day off from work. Sally, that coffee sounds divine.

I've decided that the reason I bailed on 2/3rds of my runs this week is because I'm doing a symbolic taper for mcsolar's HM this weekend. If he won't taper, I'll taper on his behalf.

Wishing MrsTripleJay good luck on her licensure exam.

I adore Aerosmith. I also loved Rocks. Unfortunately, the Drug-Induced Death Spiral took over and things went to hell. Draw the Line was such a huge disappointment.

Note to Hup: I've heard of 108 sun salutations being a tradition on NY's Day. I'd sure like to try that sometime even though my form would horribly deteriorate to belly flops on the floor instead of hovering. I probably wouldn't be able to lift my arms for a month afterwards.

Going back to Millbot's comment yesterday on sore shoulders vs sore core muscles. It's hard to believe something is being useful if we don't feel some "pain" in the target area from the effort. Seems like as much core work as I've been doing through Pilates and yoga, my ab muscles would feel at least somewhat sore but they never have. And it's not because I have lovely sculpted 6 pack abs. Like DrDale, those days are probably gone for good. But I know my core has gotten stronger from my efforts due to my increased stamina in some of the exercises.

I ran 3 miles with the BOMF group this morning, 32F. It was my first run in over a week. My foot did not hurt any more after the run then it did before. It was interesting running through the streets of Phila with a news camera filming us the whole way, chan 10 for those in philly . . . we couldn't run through as many redlights.

I also have fond memeories of the right hand rule and twisting around of the hand in all sorts of awkward positions . . . haven't done that in a long time though.
