This morning's run was great and very uplifting! My friend Chasing Amy (from CR) and I headed out through the streets of South Philly at 5:30 a.m. I felt like Rocky. We met up with a group she's running with, Back on My Feet. The program works with homeless shelters in Philly to get the guys running and in just 4 months has generated amazing buzz and progress -- 3 or 4 guys ran the Philly Half Marathon last Sunday, and ran it well.

Everyone greeted each other very warmly, we huddled up for a "game plan" and quick prayer, and hit the streets of Philly. After everyone was exchanging high 5's and hugs, and it was so energizing. I was ready to go do another run.

So, we did about 3 miles with the guys, for 5 miles total to and from her house. On the way back the sun was rising and it was fun to run through a city just waking up.

I was still in the dehydrated fog of cold medicine but enjoyed the run immensely anyway. If you want to learn more about the group, the website is www.backonmyfeet.org.

Sounds an inspriring group, SGH. I imagine a having a cutey along for the run brightened up their day as well.

Good news. Ran 3 miles easy with no calf pain. Range of motion felt great today. I will make sure to ease back into running, but I am very encouraged that I'll get out there some during my vacation.

SGH,
Sorry that I missed you on yesterday's run. Glad that you had a good time.

This morning we took the guys to a spin class, it was my first time. It was probably a good thing for me since my foot was a little sore.

I missed you too, patrick! Maybe another time. That's good you took the guys to spinning. I was telling Amy finding them some indoor spaces will probably be good during the cold months, as new runners often don't take to very cold running.

I was really impressed with the organization, and hope to participate as I can from 300 miles away.
