and 1 hour Weights and Core.

Could you send me a PM with a little more detail?

Date and Time etc

the 50k is a local one... sanctioned by the skin of its teeth (it is one of those fattest butt). no shirts or medals... I doubt the aid stations are going to be awesome either... however the first half the hills will be Kick Arse.

It is called Incline to Nodine. Starts in Lacrescent and goes to the top of Nodine and than back.

Gives my running some purpose however (more reason to get a 5-6 hour long run in feb)

there are really some amazing people on here...i couldn't imagine how 20+ miles could be easy and then recovery day is JUST 6 miles...or doing a 50K...i don't even know how far that is.

i skipped the gym this morning and i'm taking the afternoon off, so i'll be running outside. hope the wind isn't too bad, but i'll be out there either way. i'll probably also do some relax yoga at lunch.

Not amazing....more like special.

As in "Any idiot can run a marathon, but it takes a special idiot to run an ultramarathon"

Flounder seems especially "special" with his 30-40 mile days.

Friday is my day off, so no running for me today. I will probably ride the bike on the trainer for 30-60 min though, to burn some calories and loosen up.

6 miles foe me outside in the wind. The thing I hate nost about the wind is that it takes more than it gives meaning running against it is hard while running with it does not seem to propell you as much as I would think it should. I hope that made sense. Anyway a good run non the less.

Good training,
I know you mean like "Short Bus" special or "Brittney" special or "Run Forrest Run" Special.

pombili - Actually sometimes a "Curse" can also be a "Blessing" I am Excessive Cumpulsive. Generally it sucks - but it drives me to workout a lot, that is if I am not eating a lot, that is if I am not drinking booze a lot, that is if I am not working a lot ...

Pombili..

I cant speak for evryone but I would guess that most of us started by running less than a mile the first time. and just have been addicted from there. I run with Ultra Runners and Trail runners so to me the thought of just going out for 5-8 hours and runnign seems really cool so it is what I have focused on. I started last january... and have just recently really started to ramp up the miles.... by the way 50K is 31 miles

Wow... impressive! A friend of mine is registered for this, Trans Europe running race (he's half nuts, he also ran a Double Hardrock (ie, two 100s back to back, finishing w/ the official race):
http://www.transeuropalauf.de/tel_09...content=Anfang

pombili: Richard is right... I started small too. Back in 2000 or so, I would run on my lunch hour 2-3 days a week for 30 minutes. At first it was a run/walk combo (mostly walk)... maybe 2-2.5 miles total. I'd go out 15 min and turn around and come back. Over time the distances kept growing and I did a half marathon the following year.

I moved to Boulder (from Indiana) in 2003 and discovered how much fun trail running is. Out here a lot of the trail runners are also ultrarunners, so after a few years of hanging out with these crazies, it just became a natural progression. (When you hang around with people who talk about "mellow 50 milers" you start to believe it). It probably also helps that I'm not quite wired right in the head, since I really love pain and love to get out on the trails and suffer... maybe I was dropped on my head as a baby

Me I started run walking a 4 miles loop in the AM and walking it again in the PM. It took @ a month to run the whole way - I was 300#+ at start.

6 month later I was 50-60 MPW

12 Months later 60-75

24 Months Later 85-105

I still remember the 1st time I ran 14 miles - It kicked my ass - I ended up taking a 2 hour nap and boy I couldn't imagine very doing 20.

I rember the 1st time I did 20 - Man it felt great - I new I was hooked -

I rember the 1st time I did 50k training (31 miles) - Again it kicked my ass.

I ran 50 mile race 39 months after starting - Man did it feel good - I was hooked on the idea of Ultras, but I decided I have some unfinished business 1st before I dive to deep in those waters.

there used to be a website... that you could virtually run some long routes like this... every day you log your runs and shows on the Map how far you have ran how many miles till the next town... etc...

it would be cool to do that..If I remember right you could have teams etc.. and a chat area.etc...

P.S. I am still laughing at the "as in Brittney special" LOL!!!
