Good morning all.

I am up and getting ready to head to the Airport so I can go home. No run this morning. Not enough time. Do plan on a bike ride this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Have a nice flight, Dave.

I looked at the weather radar a few minutes ago and there's a line of thunderstorms headed my way. Looks like I'll leave for my run earlier than usual and hope the rain doesn't arrive til after I'm back inside.

Well, I didn't beat the rain. Hit short periods of light rain and mist around mile 3, and around mile 4.5 the rain began pouring steadily. Only a couple of lightning blasts within a mile, but they were bright. I'm surprised I wasn't running with an afterimage in front of me. Also I managed to run in two puddles a couple of blocks from the house and totally soaked my shoes and socks.

I managed to run 6.1 miles in 1:08:25.

No time Dave- what about 3am? Just kidding- have a good flight.

WO- way to get the run in this morning. Hope you have two pairs of active running shoes, I had to bring a pair out of retirement this week because I left my backup shoes at my parents house last weekend.

Tonya- I hope you've got something really good planned. Keep team Q rolling.

Richard- enjoy the rest.

For me- I found some of that rain last night WO was talking about. Not as much fun as earlier this week because it was a pretty cold rain and it was windy. Got a nice easy 10 in. I don't have time for a run tonight, so I drug my butt out of bed early to get a semi-recovery 6 miler in. I figured my legs would really be asking for it after 30 miles the last 3 days, but honestly they didn't have the lethargic feeling they usually have when they need rest. I'll try to get some core work in tonight once I get to my parents in law's house to be able to post a decent VRAA number for the day.

Hope everyone avoids the wind and rain today.

Safe travels, Dave.

Wanderingoutlaw, it's raining and storming here in NC too.

Tonya -- enjoy your special workout! Sounds like you're looking forward to it.

Mailbox Head -- excellent job on the back to back runs. I know your VRAA team will appreciate that.

I'm with RichardC, today -- resting. But I am going to (make myself) pump iron! Watch out people!!!

I was too busy to report in yesterday, but I had a great 5 mile run after work which totally revived me, then taught yoga. Class was extra good last night. It seemed to flow and the people were in no hurry to scoot out after; they seemed very relaxed and content. It feels good to help them feel that way.

Jeez, I'd have to get up before I go to bed to post before Dave.

I have mixed feelings about not running yesterday... probably needed the rest. Anyway, today I'm planning on ~7 miles with 5 at tempo pace, which is supposed to be around 6:30 to 6:40 mpm. Fingers crossed on that one. I'll have the puke bucket at the ready.

Have a good one.

Good morning. I am glad to report a morning run, for a change. I am usually last to post here after my evening run.

I bailed on last night's run due to 40F and rainy weather. Rather, I rose up early and it paid off. Perfect 40F and overcas - Nice and cool. 7 miles in 54:30. Since I have to get to work, I picked it up in the last mile. Just a bit faster than my normal easy pace but nowhere close to MP. I feel great this morning.

My running club/group is doing 13 or 20 mile options in the morning. I am looking forward to this weekend. Have good runs, all.

good workouts all. Good luck with that special one later Tonya. Way to put in some early miles wandering. Hope everyone enjoys their rest days. Richard rest up, you've been ramping up those miles it seems. Only 6 today Flounder, did you miss an extra 0 there, what is your team gonna do without your typical 800 points? Well I regretfully have decided to take the day off. I woke up feeling a little better than yesterday nd decided that maybe trying to run would set me back more so than Ithought. So I was sensible whih I've never been before, wicked weird. I'll do cre and try the bike and/or eliptical later. Gonna try the comeback run tomorrow.

Mornin', gang.

Dave -- Glad you're coming home. Can tell from your posts you've missed it.

Wandering -- Good run. And I find lightning quite beneficial during a run -- let's me see my way better. And, frankly, I think all the naysayers who warn that it's "dangerous" or something overstate things.

Tonya -- You took yesterday "off"? Surprised you didn't turn into a pumpkin. Can't wait to hear about your special run.

Mailbox -- Good workouts to you later.

Sister -- You're an instructor? Always wanted to try yoga, but haven't found the time. Perhaps you'll inspire me to do it . . .

Flounder -- Nice recovery.

RunAsics -- Ahh, tempo runs. Always SOUND like a great idea, but I always underestimate how tough they'll be. Good luck on yours.

Roots -- Nice pace this a.m. And good luck with your long run over the weekend with the club.

Me -- Did a tempo yesterday. Six miles total, with the middle four at a steady 7:10. Taxing, but not butt-kicking. Probably four to six recovery today. Lots of work piling up which needs some attention, too.

I'm hardly impartial, but can't say enough about the benefits of regular yoga practice. It can be hard to find time outside of training, though. If you ever have questions, just ask.

David--safe travels!!!

Wandering--I love running in the rain! One of my favorite memories was running down the bike path in a heavy rain. Outbound, the path was clear. Inbound, there was rather large "stick" across the path. Until I got closer, then it moved. Yep! Big old black snake!

Tonya--listen to Alex.

As for me, sucky swim again this morning. Not sure what's going on, but lately my swim just isn't happening.

Then for a run. Just couldn't get into this run. Not sure why. Decent numbers, though. 3.66m, 31:01, 8:29pace.

Last night I had to take son #4 to Urgent Care. He got hit in the face. Bloody nose I can deal with. But, he had bloody tears, too. No fractures showed up last night. However, this morning there is a big lump in his eye socket. Luckily, his eye is still functioning normal. And y'all wonder why I s/b/r...

Morning Folks.

Well, I'm following Tonya's leadership from yesterday and joining a few others here in a rest day. Hip feels ok but the rest of me is TIRED. I will get in a little core work later.

Tonya - Teasing us with the possibility of new amazing feats? Hope it goes well.

Dave - Safe travels and a happy homecoming.

Outlaw - Glad you made it safe. Running early in the morning when it's dark and there's nearby lightening leads to speedwork on my part. Really gets my heart rate up.

MBH - Lively legs after 30 miles in 3 days sounds great. Nice going on the early morning run.

Alex - Have good 8 later. LOVE those hills.

SGH - Yoga, pumping iron, running amazing. What kind of yoga do you teach?

Flounder - With all the miles you put in, how often do you throw in a recovery day?

RunAsics - Hope there's no need for the bucket

Tonya(2) - (from the psych) Now that you've learned how to take rest days, you work is to not be goaded into guilt by your team mates

Roots - Nice job on the weather management. Enjoy your weekend group run.

xc - Your new found wisdom will no doubt pay off in the long run (no pun intended)

chances - Sounds like work's got you in it's grip lately. Any relief in sight?

A quick good morning here and then I've got to get some work done.

First of all, on behalf of my family thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and prayers regarding my uncle's passing this week. He was laid to rest yesterday but his memory will live on with us all.

Due to the whirlwind drive up to the NY area, funeral and drive back, there was really no running opportunity to speak of. Thankfully I did get that great tempo workout in Wednesday morning before leaving town. Actually my wife and I were thinking we would do something when we got in last night but I was completely wiped out from everything...all I could do was go to bed.

Today I'm working from home and should have some time to get out and do something. I'm not sure what I'll do though. I'm still a bit tired from the events of this week, but I'm itching to get it going again. Normally on Fridays I would do spin at the gym near my office but since I'm not there today it will have to be something else...perhaps an easy run in the rain outside this afternoon. I'm just going to go with the flow I think.

14 planned for tomorrow. Like Roots, maybe I'll do it with my club. I haven't done a Saturday Long Run with DCRRC in a while. And the early time would fit in well with my schedule which calls for heading up to Philly for the rest of the weekend in the afternoon.

Dave - have a safe trip home and good ride when you get there

chances - nice tempo run there

RA - stick with the tempo run. you'll be glad you did.

Tonya - I can only imagine what "surprise" you have in store

xcr - good thinking to take it slow coming back

WO - nice run in the rain. That could be me later.

Mailbox, RichardC - great recent runs. You've both earned that easy day today.

Flounder - I know exactly how you feel re: travel stress impacting running.

Alex - good run later.

OK, gotta go. I'll have a report on some kind of workout later.
