Good morning, everyone. Too many forums to post in these days

An 11 mile run in the dark for me today. Where can I go live where it's light out when I run, and also 60F?

Stats: 11.1 miles 1:34 (8:28/mi).

Good runs to all and have a great day.

May I join you folks on the daily Master's thread?

This is my first week post C25K, a long time runner starting over after some medical issues. I had been posting on the CR beginners threads and got lots of support from runners at my stage of C25K.

I'm keeping with the 3 mile runs for awhile until they become easier, I ran 3 on Tuesday and another 3 on Thursday. Thursdays run had no walking breaks and was at a comfortable pace, I finished in 33:34. This is encouraging since my last run on C25K I had some hip pain after and was a little afraid that something might be going wrong. Both these runs were comfortable and I might bump up Saturdays run to 3.25 or 3.5. I'm enjoying my new Garmin 305 that I gave myself for finishing the C25 program and am exploring new routes. I found a good one with not as many hills as I had plotted out for my C25K runs.

Thanks for listening!!!

No running for me today, but I did go to the gym and did 10 minutes of rowing (underhand to work my biceps) and 45 mins of weights, mostly concentrating on my upper body but doing some calves & thighs too. Tomorrow is also a no-run day for me (power yoga class instead), but Sunday will be a longer run. This is my first week in the 1-hour runner workout but then next week I have to be in Denver so I'm sure my workouts won't be the same there, if at all. I may have an opportunity to do a long hike though, so that's better than nothing! And I'll bring along my running gear just in case I have the opportunity to slip out the door.

Welcome Ken!

Twas dark here too.
0506, 73F but not as humid (or am I getting used to this?)
6.6 miles in 54:35 (8:16 pace AHR 157). This was a nice hilly route (2.2 mile loop with two 75 ft hills). The last two loops, 4.4 miles, averaged 8:03. Really attacked the hills... ahh.

Susan, I lived in Denver for 14 years and it's a great running city. Trails all over the place, even in downtown. If you want, let me know the area and I might be able to give you some suggestions of where to run if you have time.

Ken.. sounds like you are working back into it gently. That will pay off big time. A quote from one of our Boomers, Tnally: "not running sucks". So enjoy each mile!

Susan, I meant to ask you, how does an information goddess get ambulance duty?

Nice workouts gang. Great job of easing back into it Ken. Bump that weekend long run up gradually, and it will really make those shorter runs easier. I would run in the dark, but I bump into things.

My afternoon run will be delayed a bit today as I need to actually mow the lawn. It has been so dry that mowing hasn't been an issue for a couple of weeks, but we got some showers the last couple of days and it's time. So, yard work and then some hill repeats. 4 x 200 springy uphills at 15k or so pace going up and easy jog down, 4 x200 at 10k pace with easy jog down, then 4 x 200 at 5k pace going down with slow jog up to recover. I need to work on that downhill form. 1.5 mile w/u and 1.5 mile cooldown.

Hi,

I had a good run, warmer then it has been 79 degrees. I got out of my normal pre-run routine and I felt it during the run.

Welcome Ken.

Riley, go luck in Denver with those bitches, well maybe the bitches won't be there, but I am sure you will talk about them. I only go to dog shows so I can talk this way

I'm a volunteer EMT for the town, in addition to being the Library Director! People sometimes look at me strangely in the library; then I realize that they're folks that I've picked up with the ambulance. You know how hard it is to see people out of context -- you just don't recognize them. I work in a small town (10,000 people plus about 3,000 illegal immigrants) so I know a good percentage of the residents. The town is called Mount Kisco and is a suburb of NYC, in Westchester County.

I actually just had to re-take all the EMT state exams last month, since my certification expires every 3 years. It was difficult doing all the studying again. And it threw off my exercising for a couple of weeks, bummer.

Susan, who hopes to find some good running in Denver next week.

By the way, I do bring my dogs to work on occasion! I'll miss them next week when I'm in Denver at the French Bulldog National Specialty shows.

So -- running in Denver -- someone offered to tell me about a couple of good routes. Do you have anything in the 3-mile range? The fewer the hills, the better, as I'm just starting to get back up to speed after my calf tear at Christmastime. Four months of PT - argh - it was awful and then I had to start all over again, completely, even unable to run 1 mile until late May. Now I'm back up to about 3 miles but it's tough and I'm increasing the mileage extremely slowly and cautiously.

Today in NY it's about 80 degrees and horribly humid. Better weather ahead for the weekend.

I had to read drunningman's comments twice and then finally got it. Guess i got too hung up on some of his verbage. I thought WHO is he talking about? LOL

Okay, hoping the caffeine kicks in shortly...

Pie, we constantly water our grass to keep it green and growing. If we had to wait for rain, it'd be a lost cause.

My arms and shoulders are a tad sore from yoga but will stop at the gym for more upper body abuse after work.

Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend!

Welcome Ken A,
Congrats on the C25K, have any running goals in mind?

A good GA 10.31 to finish off a month of many trail miles.
Sept will see fewer miles, but some harder ones I hope. A 5k and 10k scheduled and considering a 15M trail race.
Welcome Ken!

I got in 7.75 this a.m. to round out my month at 76 miles. Far cry from my 101 last month, but I wasn't able to get out there and go running as much this month, . . .not to mention lack of motivation.

We leave in about 4 hrs for "family camp" up in the mountains. DS has so much fun at camp and it's a nice relaxing weekend for the grown-ups too. A good way to rest up before the routine of school starts on Monday.

Have a good weekend all!

6 and change this morning in a cool 60°F. Feel great and Taper is finished. Two days rest and then M. Woot!
Forcast is for mid 60°'s at 6:00am start and should be sunny and 80ish around the 4 hour mark. Can't wait. Will try not to OD on food and college football this weekend. Last week of taper ends with 30.6 miles. 316 miles for August. 2,041 YTD Miles

May get to try on the race directors hat for the first time. Wife's club she sponsors at the school where she teaches is looking at putting one on for a fund raiser. Can anyone suggest a source for race planning information online? Thanks!
