Howdy all.

Heme - glad you're making progress on your med issues.

Hiya PT, Tom, Mike, et al.

A little apprehensive about the 10 yr anny this weekend. At the dr office this afternoon was a book of 2-3 paragraph bios of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. Brought it back very clearly to me.

Doc said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the functioning of my lungs. I'm well above predicted norms for my age, sex, weight etc. No restrictions in breathing, no negatives on the xrays, no nuttin anywhere. His thoughts were possibly these. The extreme heat we have been having, dehydration, stress, or cardiac issues.

I have felt that the heat was an issue all along so we will ride out this heat wave and see what happens. Last full week has been better and the temps have been nearer normal (10 degrees cooler morning and afternoons). I thought I was hydrating enough but may add more? My job is stressful but hasn't affected me this way before. Will monitor that. I don't think I have a cardiac issue and he doesn't either. So the plan is for me to monitor my breathing for next month or so (hopefully temps will drop by then) and see if we have improvement, stays the same, or worsens. One thing he told me really hit home. He says your lung sensors (he called them J sensors) that register the volume of air in the lungs is in the lower region of the lungs. It signals the brain that your are receiving enough oxygen and it satisfies us. He says that I am probably breathing only in the upper section of my lungs so the sensors are telling the brain "need more oxygen; not getting enough" when in fact I am. He suggested exhaling deeply a couple times during episodes and practice breathing a little deeper. He says too that perceiving you are not getting enough oxygen causes stress which causes shallow breathing which causes................well it turns into never ending cycel.

All in all I feel better that it is not a lung issue and it will resolve itself.

I ran 10 miles of hills this morning at 7:55 avg pace and have a 20 moh early tomorrow. So it's off to bed.
