Morning kickstars.

10 miles along the bay front this morning. 93 heat index at 6 a.m. this morning. jtwili Watch battery wasn't charged enough and it gave up at mile 1. So it was untimed which is just fine. Only ran 20 miles this week in 3 runs. Can't remember when I've run so little in a week or even for a month. Have to start getting back into the groove next week.

Running a 4 mile race Monday but am just going to run it based on how I feel. I have lost fitness over the last 6 weeks due to this heat and training. So I'm not ready to race it. I'm going to run slow enough to enjoy it and run with a different crowd.

Mike sorry to hear about your car. You need to take it back and tell them it's a lemon and get another. Change your luck?

What's up all?

Checking in for the weekend...ran 14 this morning....went better than the last 14M a couple weeks ago...could have used more to drink....not used to the sunshine...sweated buckets in the first half. I overheat easily. A breeze in my face on the way back was nice.

My first run wearing a cap..never wore one before...always a visor...even for rain...well then I might wear my rain jacket and the visor. Anyway, (a) it didn't look as bad as I thought it would and (b) what a treat not to have hot sweaty hair. I put it all up in the cap which is made of stretchy material. The sides are mesh which absorbed all the sweat and let cool air in...my head was cool the whole way...I'm sold!

This is my new cap

I do have a goal, Johnny - a HM on Sept 25 that I want to do at a 10 mpm pace. It's the Black Diamond HM in Enumclaw. My photo here is from after that race last year which I did at 10:22 pace - with a cramp occurring in my right glute at about mile 9, so I had to run slower than I would have liked to keep it from stopping me altogether. I've rehabbed alot since then; so with more speedwork, I think I can do it.

ETA: I also have my goals for turning 55 at the end of August, which are: 35 mpw, 10 mpm pace, 16 mile LR
