For my next floatie...

And the amusement and tittillation of the numerous anonymous guests who frequent these parts: 
 
My sister was the first of our family to move away from our home town. Then one brother joined the Armed Forces, another went to teach in Korea and my youngest sister moved to the same town as the first. When we left Montréal my parents decided to pack up and move to be with their daughters.
 
There is a regular refrain that my wife and I hear from my family, it goes something like this: “When are you coming back home?” Well, their town, Peterborough, isn’t home for us, it never has been and likely never will be. I don’t dislike it, it’s a fine place, pretty even. I will visit and enjoy myself, but I am not likely to move, even if I care for the people who live there very much. Montréal was home, Calgary is now home, Peterborough isn’t. 
 
So here’s the analogy. The PRT is home. I may have started in Kicksports and stayed for the Coolrunning makeover, but I eventually moved here and made my home here. There are people I care for who post elsewhere, but those places aren’t home for me. Nice places, but I am not likely to move.
 
J’y suis. J’y reste. (I’m here. I’m staying.) 
 
This isn’t out of some principled position. I am a one-forum-kind-of-guy not out of any sense of virtue but out of the knowledge that I can and have wasted far too much time on the internet. Being uni-postal is my way of attempting to fool myself into believing that I have limits on my internet habit. I am not saying that I will never change or never move, just that I see no need to do so now. The world didn’t end when everyone didn’t join Riff-Raff with the buttslappers. It didn’t end when the moonbeam and unicorn set left Coolrunning, came here and left again.
 
For the record, I don’t believe this is some sinking ship either. The website is about more than the PRT. And these things always go in cycles. At some point popcorn munchers will appear, as will the popcorn munched, the outraged and the outrageous, the amused and bemused. Until then I’ll just putter around in the basement muttering to myself. It’s quiet here… hello, hello, is this thing on?

I agree, it's been very very quiet the past couple of months. I can tell you from personal experience, life lately has been kicking the crap out of me. But, this too shall pass.

Ditto. I don't anticipate leaving, but, I went over to Sue's place the other day, just to lurk, and the screen names came back like a giant high tide. So many people have left. Some I didn't want to see, but the majority, I did. I miss them, but, I'm not leaving. 
They're the fickle ones, I tell you.

I have an affinity for this place too and I check in every day.
 
 
However, I don't feel like a slut and a cheater for posting on a few other sites as well.
 
 
I tend to spend at least a couple of hours with forums and I'd love to spend time in good discussion, debate, and to be honest, I kinda like it when people get their knickers in a knot on occasion...not all the time, but on occasion. .It's the devil in me.
 
 
All that becomes a bit problematic here for me when topics on the first page date back over 2 weeks and about 2/3 of them have 1 reply. That's not lively debate or even "hi-test camaraderie" to me.
 
Grizz's posts and pics are akways a good read. Lucky he's posting. Mayb Maybe Hopefully ebb and flow is right. I'm ready for some flow.
 
BTW, my brother lives in Peterborough. It's a lovely place. I don't want to live there either. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif" style="width:16px;height:16px;">

Ain't nobody evern been called a slut for being bi-postal (or multi-postal) I don't think. I just know that it would be a real slippery slope for me. Next stop... LOLcats or something like that.

I mostly just lurk in PRT. Exchanges can get quite heated at times. People expecting me to accept their views/beliefs, yet not willing to accept that my views/beliefs may be different. I've got too much going on in my life to deal with that crap. I do post in FinishLine and occasionally Multi-Sport. Meh. It has been kinda quiet lately. I do miss some of the old regulars, esp those that I have met IRL. But, whatever. I guess they've chosen to move on. Hopefully they'll be back.

 I know, things can get very heated here. I have to say that the discussion on Coachie's hair was very disconcerting to me.

I am still here!
 
I was away for a week for vacation and in real life my new job has really kept me busy and off the message boards. I do mess around on Facebook and I am trying to cut back on that some since I am spending to much time there I think.
 
I have seen that things have gotten quiet here in the last year or so. 
 
Although I thought the post I made to the Naked Men of the PRT thread might have elicited more of response or else no one noticed what I did.

I'm still here - I could start a vicious rumor or finally post all the gossip I know about people and they could in turn post all the gossip they know about me... and we could be like it was in the past.. lots of finger pointing and name calling and pouting and running off and then coming back and you know - be like a normal forum....
