Dinner with Marier and Andrea tonight. That's fun.

Not so fun for Dh: following me around and lifting stuff for me.

Annoying: Dh loaned our dog cage to someone and can't remember who. I need it, and he has no idea who to ask for it.

GOON!!!! This is what Dh has scritched down on a scrap of paper for the salmon patties:

Kath's Salmon Patties

5 cans salmon

6 eggs (or more if needed)

almonds

parsley

onion

salt

asiago cheese

dill weed if we have it

chives if we have it

See? He's a dump cook. I know he grinds up the almonds like flour, and he probably minces the onion pretty finely, because I don't notice any chunks. He said he just mixes everything together and fries it. But not deep frying, he just sprays a non stick pan with olive oil. (You know, like Pam? But olive oil.)

McDonalds makes me feel so crappy that I never eat it anymore. Even the kids only eat it once in a great while. I cannot imagine training for a marathon on a diet of McD's.

Back on the right eating track today - Chobani yogurt is yum and they keep putting it on sale at my grocery store! Yippee! Black Cherry flavor today. Some almonds, a big salad. Ummm, and the two cookies I ate were made with dark chocolate, whole wheat and oat flours, so they're still healthy! So says the Queen of Food Rationalization. And with a cuppa soy chai - nirvana! I could spend all my time grocery shopping and cooking and I'd be totally content. Today I have chicken souvlaki marinating and the tzatziki sauce to go with it is made and melding flavors in the fridge.

Off to walk Pico in the crisp sunshine now!

And yah, Dh tends to cook in quantity. They actually freeze really well though. The ones I've had for dinner the last 2 nights were frozen. He layers them between sheets of parchment.

I've seen McAwesome all over Facebook lately. And while I love his t-shirt and his cause (the Ronald McDonald house), I have a hard time supporting eating only McD's for 30 days. Imagine how fast that dude would be if he ate a healthy diet.

Fun: watching the Noles last night.

Not fun: losing in the last seconds in OT. The Noles couldn't make a shot to save their lives, especially in the first half, so that was frustrating.

Happy weekend all!

Wow, that's Greg Proops! (The "news" anchor, I mean). I remember him from the original British version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" I think he also worked on the American Drew Carey version, although I never really watched that one as much. Anyway, I hadn't seen Greg Proops in eons...

RIL, that's too bad about FSU. Obviously as a Gator fan, I have no love for the Seminoles. But it would have been fun to see the two teams play each other in the Final Four. Not that I'm expecting anyone to beat Kansas now, but the way this tournament is going, you never know...

Mmmm. Salmon.

Yesterday we sprung an unplanned fountain in the yard towards the end of the day. So in a panic I got to use my locating skills, my digging skills, my plunge cutter skills, my pvc plumbing skills and my inside toilet plumbing skills (some dirt got in the broken lines so a bunch of the valves got clogged up.)

Today I get to put the retaining wall and the big hole I dug back together again. I guess I should take a few pictures first.

How hard was it? I need to redo both my bathrooms and I want to DIY as much as possible. Replacing the tub and adding a fan (there's NO fan in the bathroom! everything's rusty) will require some hired help methinks.

I'll wing it on those salmon patties - I think I've got all the ingredients. I told the kids I was going to make them Tator Tot Hot Dish tomorrow. I've never made it or eaten it (wasn't there a QOD about commonly eaten foods that you've never eaten? yeah, this is mine I guess) and apparently it's a Minnesota staple.

Hrmph. I had a bad feeling all day about this game. I knew Butler wouldn't be easy. We should have won this game. I don't like the way it was officiated. They were calling too many ticky-tack fouls. But they were doing it both ways, so I can't say the advantage was towards Butler. They hit their free thows when it counted and we didn't. We had numerous opportunities to put the game away, and we just let them back in every time. We led by 10 points in the first half and by 11 in the second half. What was Butler's biggest lead? I think it was the 3 points at the final buzzer. I give them a lot of credit. Dammit, I knew we weren't a great team. Frankly, I never thought this team had the talent to make the Elite Eight, so I'm glad we made it this far. But we should've won this game...

Spread towels on floor. Turn off the water supply. Empty tank of water. Use a towel or sponge to get the last bits of water. Disconnect water supply from tank by gently loosening the plastic ring under the tank. If it's a 2 piece rig you can remove the two screws connecting the tank to the base and lift it off. Disconnect two bolts holding base to floor, they may be hidden under plastic caps that you can pry off. Remove base and set on rags or newspaper. There will be a yucky, sticky wax ring left. Use a paint scraper to remove it completely. Put down a new wax ring and reverse procedures with new potty. Not too bad! You will need pliers, a crescent wrench, a flat head screwdriver, and the scraper.

Bob, that was a boring game for a long time but one heck of a finish! Hard for me to not root for Butler. .

Hockey playoffs for DS#2 and 3 are going well so far. 3 games done. 3 to go. (only one more this weekend) Now it's cleaning time and then a trip to the bookstore with DS #3. Can't wait!

BoB - I actually didn't catch any of the game, but as you know, I am surprised that Florida lost it. I guess you never know what will happen at the dance. They really screwed up my bracket though. :)

I know, crazy. I can't believe VCU won today.

Tater Tot Casserole is big in Wisconsin too. True comfort food. Speaking of food, we are going out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Yum. Nice way to off-set my 15 miler and 10K this weekend. :)

I've never had any Hot Dish. I assume that's a casserole? Not a New England thing. On the other hand, I love American chop suey...I think Midwesterns call it goulash?

OMG, I'm tired. Didn't get to bed til 3 on Fri night (Sat morning). Ran around all day yesterday, it was closing night for our show, then I hosted the cast party last night. Oof. I finally got people out of my place at 3, didn't get to bed til after 4. I was able to sleep til about 10, but still...ridiculous. Been running around all day today too. Finally sat down at 6pm. I have to get up and go do stuff again though. Sigh.

(((((((((((((((((Lori))))))))))))))))) good luck tomw! It'll be ok.

To me, goulash = hamburger + noodles in a red sauce in a casserole dish.

Tater Tot Hot Dish didn't go over well here. DD Said "Well, it's edible, I guess". But she didn't finish the small serving I gave her. DS tried it and then asked for Mac N Cheese instead. I thought it was ok but my expectations were low going in. My Mom is swinging by to get some to have for dinner and I'll take some in to work on Tuesday for my work friend.

Thanks Duck! I think I'll print that out. I'm pretty sure I can handle that. Disposing of all the old fixtures is going to suck, isn't it. Vanity/sink, tub and toilet will all be going. And good riddance.
