I've not had a crunchie, I did however ride outside at 0600 today for the first time this year.

April means it is time to step the training up so I have got started.

I still don't understand where everyone went :¬(

Foggy Friday, indeed!! Oh wait, you mean you weren't talking about my brain?

Hi KS, HF and Gobi!

The new boss is in town and we all went to dinner last night, so didn't get a chance to post yesterday's 6.3 mile felt-like-carp run. Slow and sore, with tummy rumbles. Today, I feel like a truck hit me.... that 10K's of speedy trails on Wed totally kicked my butt!

Will do some easy stuff in the gym later.

good morning!

I ran intervals last night. The HS kids were using their track, so I had to go elsewhere. went to the middle school. the middle school kids were using their track, so had to go elsewhere. Finally ended up at my sons elem school. no one was using the track. just 3 middle school boys playing basketball nearby. I ran a mile w/u (8:40, too fast), then my 4x1 mile, ended up being 3x1mile with 3:00 recoveries. 7.37, 7.44, 7.47. I just had nothing left in the tank for another mile repeat. nada. I think warming up too quickly, not being used to how warm it was yesterday and maybe running on a dirt track compared to the rubber track, just exhausted my legs. ended up with 5 miles 41:47. an unofficial 5 mile pr I guess.

will maybe do a short ez RAL today.

Hi! Yesterday I ran with the ladies in the late afternoon, 6.37 miles as our last run together before our half on Sunday. I did tell them we're supposed to be tapering, and so Thursday's run shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 miles.... of course that was at about the 4 mile mark of the out-and-back loop... oops....

And so this morning I dutifully did NOT run, and went to yoga class instead. Washed and did my hair before class as incentive to keep myself from working too hard and sweating too much. I think my strategy worked, because I don't feel as drained as I usually do after class. See, being all about one's hair does have its benefits!

As for April Fools' jokes, Mother Nature is really pulling a number on us here in the metro northeast. Yesterday it was hailing during our afternoon run. And today it was snaining when I got out class. Sunday should be sunny and in the mid-50s. I guess Mother Nature's just messing with us to make sure we're paying attention. Heh, I do kinda like her style. ;)

Hi all...I drove by your school yesterday late afternoon Tamster....saw the kids playin' BB, but didn't see you..you must of been a blur.

Missed yesterday lively discussions and a Baba drive by as I had to work, but I managed a little over 5 miles early on. Taking a rest day today.

Nice shirts OM...and I'll remember the hair washing advice next time I want to run easy.

Great TM view HappyFeat, sorry to hear about the possible bursitis...I've had that a time or two myself.

mornin' Disco Dan.

Gobi....I think they all went to facebook....I didn't get the memo or the invite to go with 'em, so I'm not sure.

I got there pretty late, Johnny. After driving to GP, then South, then finally making it to JP, it was about 5:15 or so. you probably drove by earlier.

gobi, most folks I think are over on FB and there's a pretty big group of posters at a masters group on runningahead also. RA doesn't have as many bells and whistles as this site, but i know for me, I can post there so much faster. some days I have a hard time getting my computer to load up this site, let alone post on it and I can only seem to get the edit feature to work 1 out of 4 times. The last few times I've come over here though, the posting has been easier, but still can't seem to get edit to work very well. that was the primary reason I had to abandon handling the Intrepid racing thread because I always had to go into the edit mode to add races and it just wasn't working for me, or I'd spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to get it to work, only to have it screw up my formatting.

I thought it was just me......

5 miles in a cold rain today. 34 degrees and rainy is no fun, but it was supposed to be a 6" to 12" snowfall, so I'm not really complaining. It probably sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm not, honest.

I ran with a co-worker for the first 1.75 miles of my run today, at about 10:15 pace. That's just a bit slower than I usually run my warmup mile. When she turned back and I wanted to easily transition into 8:20 - 8:30 pace, it didn't happen. I ran the subsequent 1/4 miles in 2:20 / 2:10 and 2:10. I suppose I could blame the 2:10's on a slight headwind. When I turned around to run back in, I was still trying to find 8:20 pace, but did 1/4's of 2:04 (good) / 1:58 / 1:57 / 1:57 ; 1:56. So maybe the wind was a little stronger than I thought, since I was sub 8:00 all the way back. But....when I finished that final 1/4 mile, I still had 1.25 miles to get back to the building, and instead of the planned .5 easy and .75 cool down, my legs said they'd had enough and I just jogged back to the building at about 9:20 pace. I decided to chalk it up to running a tempo on Wednesday and still being a little tired from it; maybe the too fast portion was due to running at tempo on Wednesday also, and changing my feel for "easy". Not sure, just going to take the weekend off and see where Monday finds me. Have a good weekend everyone.

You're right, BTY, 34° and rain is no fun, but beats all that snow, IMO.

I can't get the posts here to look right the first time, have to type a line (see above), submit, then go in and edit so I can get the paragraphs to work. I think KR is buggy, but what do I know.

Rip, I can't believe you really ran that race in sweats! Much less the shirt and lavender tie. Too funny. Ribs would faint. :)

Very (very) nice miles there, Tamster! You sure have gotten speedier over the last year or so.

I didn't get the Facebook invite either. Well, that's not true I guess. mcsolar kept telling me that's where all the others went and I should go too. Just not interested. I'll hang out here with you guys, although I don't seem to make it here more than a couple times a week.

Take care of those feet, HF! Bursitis can be a bear and needs plenty of TLC to get over.

After being so icky sicky for over the past week, I'm finally feeling pretty good again! Don't necessarily sound much better, but that's ok. Started running again on Wednesday with a 6.3 miler after work, and last night ran 8.2 on an incredible amount of ice. We got a bit of snow earlier in the week, and then the temps dropped (it was -6° at the coldest point on the drive in to work!) so all the melted snow and ice froze up all over. I'm so done with winter. This weekend should see some warmer temps though. And the drive belt for my treadmill is here today so DH will fix that this weekend, giving me another option. Yay!

Sounds like everybody has tired legs so I will join the bunch.

9.23 miles 70:00 2% incline

First couple miles faster than usual and then ran the last 7+ at a more constant rate. I kept the heartrate at about 80%

until I moved the pace 10 seconds quicker the last mile. More of a medium effort run but my legs are tired this afternoon.

I'm not on Facebook either; so am out of the loop on that one.

Yes I hate that about bursitis....needs a lot of TLC...I'm typically a Mind-Over-Matter person, but it simply doesn't work on bursitis.

Mine is ishial bursitis which is between the sit-bones and the overlying tendons. Anyway I feel better today with regular use of a heating pad and Voltaren gel, plus the short run last night. I'll keep it slow tomorrow and it should go okay....if I don't drown in any puddles. The rain we are getting today is unbelievable. Nonstop since long before I got out of bed - HUGE raindrops - felt like I needed a boat and not a car when I went out at lunch.

at 6 p.m., I was probably just walking over to my car - parked in the usual parking lot across from the school. I bet I missed you by just a mere few minutes.

this weekend I'm running 12. I'm doing an every other week thing: 12-16-12-18-12...etc.

I think I'll head over to JP again and run 12 from there, but I'm not sure on the time. probably mid morning-ish.

Tamster, have you found another gear recently? I don't remember you doing all of these sub-8 minute miles. Nice.

ks, 12 this morning afterr 14 last night, with 1 mile intervals? You stud...

Hi Erika!

We got about 3-4" of wet snow overnight/this morning. Streets were a mess. I think we're out of money so most towns aren't plowing, and instead are waitnig for tomorrow's mild temps to deal with it. So I went to the gym for a 6 mile progression run. And all I could watch was the local broadcast station. Apparently the sat dish was covered in a heavy coat of snow/sleet. Heck of a Spring so far.

Thinking 12 tomorrow.

It's the posting problems for me. I read the board almost daily, but posting is usually difficult. I'm on FB but there is so much activity over there I get lost and can't keep up. My solution..... Lurk a lot and post when I can.

BTW, it's my semi-annual rest week. One week off twice a year whether if I feel like i need it or not.

it's called "run til you puke" gear . . . well for me anyways, not for most folks. I can hang on to those paces for a mile, but it's not like I could hammer those out consecutively.

thanks.

#19 ·

Dove, I know what you mean about the posting problems here. It's gotten to the point where I just type one word and submit, then go back and edit to really type my post. Annoying that it's a two-step process, but the people here are worth it. ;)

As for all that activity over in FB, I ended up leaving that group, basically because I felt a bit out of touch since I'm not one of the original "old timers". It's a closed group by invitation only, and while I enjoy seeing those folks who don't post here anymore "in passing" as they appear on my feed, I find there really isn't much public interaction. Different strokes for different folks.

Hally, I did PM Rich about this issue, and he said he'd get back to me. Johnny, I only joined CR a month before Active took over and everyone left for other venues. Don't feel like reformating now, sorry about the run-on post. Thanks for the well wishes for Sunday, all! :)

I'm getting ready to bump up my cycling mileage to a weekly PR. With this ride I'm at 55 miles and it was one of my faster ones as well, http://connect.garmin.com/activity/76571977
