For those of you who want a foam roller or use a foam roller here's something I used yesterday and last week when I wanted to roll but didn't have my roller with me at work:

If you have access to large rolls of paper the core the paper is put on works rather well for that. We get 18" long rolls with 500' of paper on 3" cardboard cores. The core is strong enough to use as a roller. I now have two sitting in my cube. Anyone need one?

It worked pretty well. I have also been known to use a can of soup.

Yeah, after I read about the melting foam roller I thought that someone might need my alternative roller...for backup, of course.

So how does a foam roller differ from the Stick other than it's just one solid piece? Does it do a better job or what?

Oh, I don't know I haven't used the stick. I bet Meri knows, though...

I don't think it's better or worse though, just different.

Stick is good for things like the calves, or even the upper back if you are talented. I like the foam roller, i can use it anywhere on the body from the butt, to ITB to calf and back. You should have both Foam roller is much cheaper though. But the stick can be stashed in a backpack. Do not buy the smaller sticks, they do not work as well.

Do you mean don't buy smaller foam rollers? I don't need to worry about the price of The Stick since I got one free from the school. Maybe on Saturday at my gait analysis thingy at a running snore they will have one.
