Up and ready to run. Hope you all have good ones today.

Ouch. Still really sore. No run for me since the crash, and it might be a few more days before I feel up to it. Hrmph.

Greetings all. Spinning kicked my ass last night. (more my quads, actually). I'm sensing a few rest days are in order, and are coming up VERY soon. Oof.

Thanks for the feedback yesterday on H20 bottle options. I am thinking of checking out an amphipod belt this week. Hopefully those bottles can hold up without transferring their plastic taste to my gatorade!

(((boB))))

Heading out for something. Supposedly the big storms are going to miss us, but I dunno. There are lots of dark DARK clouds around. I hope it does rain and eases the humidity a bit. Just no lightning while I'm out.

Morning. I'm going to have to call the TM folks today. I just can't seem to get comfortable on the new TM, and it's really starting to bother me. I had the speed down to ~14:00 p/m and it still felt uncomfortable. I've never been able to do more than 2.1 miles before having to stop exhausted. I honestly don't know what's wrong, but if I can't run on it, there's no point in having a really expensive piece of exercise equipment in the house that I'll never use. Hopefully, the service folks will have some advice about how to adjust the speed. I also think I'm running differently (stride feels funny) so maybe I'm the problem. Like I said, hopefully I can sort this out.

~~~Continued healing vibes for boB and family~~~
Morning all. I scaled back my ambitious workouts on non run days. It went much better today. I had time to complete my home gym workout and hit the bike for 30 minutes. This will work much better for me. I finished everything on my schedule and have time to make this post while eating breakfast. :) That beats last month when I tried to do too much and was running late for work and grabbing breakfast on the run. NOT a healthy breakfast either.....
I hope I am learning that it is better to do SOMETHING, CONSISTENTLY, than to set goals that are a little out of reach and burn out fast and quit. So often I try too much at once, get discouraged, then quit.
Oddly I think I have an unexpected boost to my water consumption. At work we are trying to save money and one of the ideas was for everyone to bring their own water bottles to save on using multiple cups every day. So I bought a few 20 oz plastic water bottles. Yesterday was the first day trying this out and I think I did great. I know I went over 100 oz of water yesterday. This will help my overall health as well (getting required water consumption).
Bob, what crash? Looks like I have some catching up to do!
Prae that's too bad about the treadmill. I know how excited you were to have it at your place. I hope you can get things adjusted so that you can use it and enjoy it!
I did 6 miles this morning and I feel beat. I should have taken the day off but I just felt I had to get out there.
Ran the Jonathan Skeete Memorial 3 Miler yesterday and finished in 24:09. I came in 15th place and 3rd in my age group (not a big, fast crowd at this one!). I'm pretty pleased with my time, though, that's for sure!
Tomorrow evening is the Action Week 5 Miler. I have to take the girls because DH is working. It'll be Evelyn's first official race and I'll get the to do up a finisher's certificate for her wall. : )
morning
I missed the crash news too ((BOB)) and family? ?
Running: got in 3.5 yesterday in brutal heat/humidity
lifted yesterday - they got some lady trainers now and they are trying to prove they are hard arses. Killed me something fierce
This morning got up for speed work. nothing like speedwork at 5 a.m. and 75F 100% humdity. Gross!
2 x 1000 m @ tempo
2 x 1000 m @ interval
2 x 1 mile at GRP
4 x 200 at mile pace
It did not go all that well and I didn't get all the way through it. I just didn't have enough time and to seal the deal, my watch died during my 1st mile interval. Blah.
Trainer this morning. I have a scheduled walk and run a little with a friend that's also a renewbie for tonight, but the weather is not promising. Stupid storms.
I've carried my strap on for many a long run, even marathons, and I've never had a stank problem.
I took yesterday off. Monday is my usual off day, but since I had so many days off the week before I was going to run yesterday, but I was just too tired. I'll hit the track today indoors, then outside double tomorrow. This heat still blows!!! Going up to triple digets again today.
1200m in the pool is done. My usual training partner has decided not to do a tri this summer, so while she'll swim with me she isn't doing much else. Boo.
Walk or run possible later.
Also, Goonie is funny :)
I need to stop and rethink my use of the term 'strap on' before I type stuff out.
Yay Clare! Nice work!
Yeah, I suck. Didn't get up to run my 9 miler. Big surprise. I woke up and felt crappy and oogy so I laid in bed hoping it would go away. WARNING girl stuff dead ahead --> I'm getting quite sick and tired of these hormone fluctuations and I just want to be acclimated to these BC pills and feel normal again. The doc suggested a different pill/dosage but then I feel like I'd be starting from ground zero in the acclimation department and I'm thinking ahead to the October marathon. So I'm sucking it up and trying to get through it.
I'm better now that I've eaten breakfast. I got to work and was suddenly starving. I think I set a land speed record in pancake consumption. But I'm pissed that I didn't run and now I'll be running at 8 p.m. tonight - probably on the treadmill. boo. hiss.
My dog is totally dorking out right now. Running laps, play bowing at me, flipping his nylabone up over his hear & spinning around and catching it. Dh just walked out and asked me wth is up with him, because he has never seen Gus goof off like this.
Anyway. F-ing hot here. So humid you can see the air shimmering. 5 miles. Lots of XC boys out. Oh, and one guy in boxers/tshirt/flip flops carrying a cookie sheet with dishes of food across the street. Delivering breakfast?
morning.
Bob - take care! How does Jillian seem to be? Ok?
I did 8 miles this morning, with the middle 4 at MP. I was REALLY nervous about how this would go with my left leg still cranky, but except for a bit of tightness, the run went just fine. I was even a little ahead of MP. Did some good TLC stretching, tennis ball action, massage, etc after the run, so hopefully the achilles is no worse for the wear.
Fort hose who missed my crash story and want to read up, see what I wrote on Sunday evening in the weekend Fun thread. Hopefully the little green arrow below will lead you to my first post that night. Some more details follow in a couple other posts a little later on in that thread...
Jillian seems better off than either DW or me. We're both sore as heck. I'm sure we'll be good as new in a week or two, but we're aching now. Jillian, on the other hand, is right as rain. When we got home last night, she wanted to run around the yard like always. I typically will oblige her by chasing her around, even if I've just finished up a 10 mile tempo run or something. But last night I just couldn't do it. And she couldn't understand why I wasn't willing to chase her. I guess that's a good thing, because it means she feels perfectly fine. Thank goodness...
Morning all! Got out for a steamy 8 miles this morning, again in KC and mostly along the trolley tracks trail. I did include a sweet tour around the campus of my alma mater too - it's amazing how much that place has changed since I graduated, really beautiful! Heading down south to the Lake of the Ozarks later this afternoon and likely immediately jumping into the water. Will get my share of swimming in over the next several days - yay!
Dude! I had a chance at nicer weather but noooo, I left that part of the country and dove in where the triple digits continue. F$%#!
Colleen - GREAT job!!!
Hey Maria, how's the weather? Are you really going to run in that?!?! I really don't think that would be a good idea. You might melt and die and then where would you be??!!?
I can talk about this ALL day!
Steamy here too, but I went early so the temps weren't too bad. Got in a little over 6 and my pace was a bit quicker than it has been lately at the same effort, so that was a pleasant surprise.
Hi all,
Got my sleasy run in late last night, but it was still a humid hot sweatfest. Today's exercise will be on the Wiifit.
Bob, J is probably more OK because she was blissfully unaware of what was happening, unlike you and M who probably had some involuntary reaction as the crash was happening (like tensing up your muscles). Isn't that why drunk drivers so often walk away unharmed from a crash? They don't tighten and tense right before impact?
