No catchy title, but whatever.

I decided not to run this morning because my hip and calf were a bit tight after chasing those girls last night. I'll try to go after work.

Houston may be a possibility for me too....

legs are trashed today.

Not my smartest move last night - did day 1 of the leg circuit routine (20 squats, 20 lunges, 20 stepups, 10 squat jumps with 45 seconds between exercises, 3 minutes between circuits, 3 times) and then immediately went for a 5 mile run. Legs were jello the entire 5 miles.

So today is a rest day so I'm able to accomplish what I want during the 25k on Saturday.

Ha! My training partner M and I did this all last summer. Her neighbors think we're nuts.

KP, you would like my Monday a.m. boot camp class. We do all that stuff WHILE running 3-5 miles. Run a little, stop and do an exercise, run some more, stop and do something else, repeat... This week we did a 3.5 mile trail run (with a HUGE uphill on the way out of the trails) plus 100 squats and 100 lunges. Ahhh yeah.

Last night was my first real brick workout of the season -- 17.5 mile bike ride (rolling hills, average speed 18+ mph) followed by a short run (1.65 miles at 8:24 pace). I felt great during and after the entire workout. Yes!
I get up between 4:15 - 4:30 most work days. Then I either get my workout done or do work stuffs until the kids come down for breakfast at 6:30. Then I hang with the kids til 7:00 and to my workout if I didn't get it done, or shower. It takes me between 30 - 60 minutes to shower and get ready, depending on if I have to look decent for court. Since I went out on my own last year, I'm only accountable to myself, so rolling in to the office at 9:00 or 9:30 is ok. If I worked for someone, I'd have to get up even earlier!

Morning all,

Nice runs so far this morning. I met up with my group for our regular wed morning run. We had a special gues this morning, a local runner named Erica ??? (didn't catch the last name) but I've seen her at local races. She's trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials at Chicago this fall. The women's B standard is 2:46. Yeah, she want fast runner. So, our pace (7:40ish) was an easy run for her. Anyway, kinda steamy conditions, I managed 7 miles.

Theia - our wed morning run starts @ 5:45. Usual distance is 8 miles, typically done by 7 or shortly after. Plenty of time to get showered and get to work.

Houston:

Yes, I'm in. Pacer is in too. And, Wade + 3 others from my local training group are in as well. I think I can manage to have my worlds collide. :) Pacer merged his local Cincy crew with the 30s group at the 2010 Boston marathon after party, so that should work for me too.

Alexis - on the days when I run longer in the mornings I'm not out until somewhere betw 6-6:30 a.m. but I don't need to be at the office until 9:15-9:30 and I take about 30+ mins to get ready (note: many times that means damp hair in a ponytail or bun and minimal make-up)

I get up at 5 and am out the door by 5:15. I have to be at work by 7:30 and have a 30 minute commute. I too get caught in the wet hair, no time for makeup trap. I can always tell when I've done that too much when I actually have time to dry and style my hair - I get all kinds of compliments at work. Which means I pretty much look like something the dog dragged in the rest of the time.

This is a good time of year to start early mornings, if you haven't already b/c the sun is up so early now. And once you start, it's not hard to keep up the schedule. Now even if I don't have to get up, my eyes open at 5am.

Cindi - you.are.amazing. I don't know how you do it. I cannot get up earlier than 5. And even during those dark, bitter cold winters!

The Pre Classic is going to be amazing this year. Y'all should come. :)

I'm on running hiatus. I'm trying hard to get all of the swelling gone from my ankle, so I've been taking some NSAIDs and alternating cold/hot wraps with a pack that is both freezable and microwavable. It seems to be working but its trying my patience.

Houston would be great, but I don't think it will work out for me this year.

Cindi - wow. That is e-a-r-l-y. Send me a wake up text! I would love to get my workout out of the way every morning.

Maria - I know you've answered this before but I can't recall the answer. When you do your run home from work or to yoga and back, how do you manage your stuff? You run with a backpack? Cuz I had to run a couple block the other day when I got caught in the hail on the walk to work and my backpack was bouncing all over the place.

Yep, I run with a small backpack - whatever doesn't fit in gets left at the office until the next day I'm not running home. The one I use is actually a larger sized CamelBak model and I just took the bladder out, there are extra straps to pull that sucker in tight and keep it close to my back & straps that go around both my chest and waist. This is about the size of mine (minus the mud)
