Starting again just because I'm trying to be better about taking time to read the thread...

Little victory--I entirely DID NOT want to run last night. I got on the TM very late, and not only did it, but held my tempo, too. It wasn't easy. I wanted to stop from the minute I started, which was the point.

Congrats, KP on the maniac status!

I screwed up Tim's Bday yesterday, not Theia's. Sorry. Brain soup.

NICE swimming, Solar!! BTW, Sage is now back to walking...

30's Spring Race...agreed...what is it that we need for a group event? Multiple race distances, do we think it's important to have a place that is "hosted" (someone lives there and or close and have free spaces to crash?) or better to have one centrally located?

I'm gonna throw down Traverse City--the time of the year works better for a lot of school folks, I think. I'll go with whatever...just NOT the beginning of May...pleasseee...

Good morning!

Egad that workout was hard last night. The directive was 3-4 x 1600 but not on a track. Coach wanted me on the road to simulate working hard on race day. I called him and asked what my pace should be (goal race pace, tempo pace, etc.). He said, "As fast as you can. If the third one is slower and you can't hold the pace, don't do the fourth."

Just by way of comparison, goal race pace is 8mm. Tempo is 8:15ish.

I did:

6:52 (gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!)

7:08

7:10

7:25

I texted Coach afterward, "I hate you" with the paces. He wrote back, "And you wanted to do them at an 8 minute pace!" I wrote, "Yes. That would have been far more pleasurable."

Greetings, all.

Solar is the swim-mastah!! Sweet work!

No running on tap today. Core is done. Bi/tri work will be done at some point. Heading to my ART guy at 2pm as I think i've got more scar tissue buildup than usual in the problem-foot arch again. Grr.

Sweet running last night and this morning, peeps! Happy Friday!

I get to run this afternoon. Outside. But for no more than 10 straight minutes -- so, about one full mile of slow running. I'll bookend that with warm-up and cool-down walking.

Who's racing this weekend?

Thanks! Almost all of it was freestyle. The first 2000 was straight free. Then I did 10x(25yds just kicking (no arms) on my back, hit the wall, flip over and just pull with arms the 25 back to the starting wall) for the next 500, then the last 500 straight free. I do those on-my-back kick only/flip over and just pull laps to work my legs and arms separately since I don't have a kickboard or pull buoy to work them both on my stomach. I don't stop between lengths/laps, so it's actually a pretty decent set of 500 yds.

Heh. Yesterday I saw a banner ad on the side of my Facebook page that said "Solar is almost free in New Jersey!". It was an ad for getting solar panels installed on homes.

Seriously, though, that was a great swim. Good job!

So where have we left off? Olathe? How many people would consider it? Does somebody want to keep a list?

Ohbytheway, I didn't run yesterday, but I went to the gym for some lifting. I'll run a little today, then a little more tomorrow, then a 5k race on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see how much speed I've lost these couple weeks while I've been sick...

Morning all. More trouble with waking up at ridic hours and I overslept missing my Friday bridges run. This really saddened me but obvi I needed the sleep Anywho. I'm going to try for a shorter recovery run today and have a special "All You Need is Love" Beatles filled yoga class on tap for tonight at a friend's studio. Should be fun!

Itchy. Still no need for painkillers, not even tylenol. So that is good. A shower would be nice though Thx for asking.

Still no running this week for me.

Spring race: KS is not remotely possible. Too busy in the spring at work, plus the game schedule will change 9-10 times between now and then due to weather.

Traverse City: just FYI if anyone is considering it - registration opens December 1 and both races will be sold out by Christmas.

Litch, can you take a bath with your foot hanging out of the tub?

I'm back from the chiro and kind of feel like my middle section was run over by a truck. It felt..... odd... while he was working my...sacrum and c5? I could swear he said c5, but isn't that up higher? he was working down on my lower back. Huh. Anyway, It feels weird to have your muscles squished around like that. Have to go back M&F next week. He would love it if I would stop running entirely for a while, but wasn't going to forbid it entirely. I asked if I could just keep mileage low - that it's a matter of sanity - and he was ok with that, it might just take longer to heal.

He wants me to ice, but when do you do that? I stretch after running. Ice after that, right? 20 min? I'm shivering just thinking about that.

Nice work Lora! Also, Alexis - those are some rockin' numbers - beat my mile repeats this week and I only did 3!!

I had an awesome run this morning. 7 miles in the crisp, cold (27 degrees) weather. Last mile was at an 8:20 pace too. Feelin' good and loving this cool weather.

way to get out there, katho and RIL.

maria, try not to feel too guilty - your body is obviously telling you something. plus, you need to get all the sleep you can in prep for your marathon.

any racers this weekend?

3.92 miles yesterday with bella and allie. took me forever - pushing 30# of stroller with a dog around a hilly neighborhood is not easy!

on her blog at www.competitor.com she said she ran, easy but ran, a week after giving birth.

It will be interesting to see who Hall goes with...said he's not relocating from Mammoth, so that rules out Salazar.
