Greetings, all.

Not fun: Having to head into work for some last minute stuff because some clients waited until the 11th hour to process orders.

Fun: Heading to Bed Bath & Beyond to find some curtain rods so I can put curtains back up in my living room

Not fun: Stupid ear/jaw/toothache from recent tooth grinding episode is still waking me up at night. I'm thankful for advil.

Fun: Since I can't run, to pass the time I'll be starting on painting the computer room. Though while that's in progress, I'll probably be swearing and not thinking it's so fun after all. :)

Have a good one, folks!

Morning all. Working today, even though it was supposed to be a holiday. I am part of the "skeleton crew". And on-call tomorrow, which everyone on my group is. Joys of working in finance - year end data processing. Tomorrow is not such a big deal. I am planning on taking down the Christmas decorations, and cleaning. I do like the decorations, but it is time for them to go.

In super duper news, my 11 YO has been cast in an off off Broadway play. Part of a writers festival of 8 minute plays. Very proud of him. Now me and the Mrs need to figure out travel schedules, and when we can ski :D

QOD - what are your New Year's Eve plans?

I will be hanging with the neighbors, probably really low key.

Nice family room LItch and congrats to DS!!!

QOD: No real plans for NYE here. We met a friend and his girlfriend last night for drinks, and were talking about it, but there was nothing decided.

from yesterday - while I don't know what a butter cookie is, I love shortbread! So easy to make!

Litch - very festive family room and I second the congrats to DS - that is awesome!

QOD: I am planning in Atlanta baby! We are having such a blast. Our hotel is in the CNN center, so we are in the thick of everything. The bowl parade will be right here and there are a ton of festivies going on. I don't think it is possible for DS to be any more thrilled right now.

Getting ready to go for a quick run around the city - will be fun to throw on a skirt and short sleeves rather than all the winter gear!!!

Morning! We're having a heat wave!!! It's 46° here so far. Supposed to be 50something.

Nice decorations Litch! And YAYAYAYAY for your boy! That's awesome.

((((Ailarie)))))

Have to leave for the chiro in a few minutes. And then I think I'll be doing some errands after. While I'm gone a guy is coming to do a little patch job on the roof. There's a bit of a leak over the sunroom. Thankfully, it's going to be an inexpensive fix. Although at some point we're probably going to have to take the tiles off and re-do the underlayment, or whatever that is called.

Fun - I got a lovely note on Ravelry from a lady in Texas:

Hi! Hope you don’t mind me “friending” you, but your knits and your pottery are beautiful. I wish I would have seen your website before Christmas! :) You may very well become a regular “supplier” of gifts for my MIL. Thank you for sharing your crafting.
Happy Holidays!

and and

Also fun: Donna (our 86 y/o neighbor directly across the street) just called to ask what she can fix that I can eat. And what else? And what about this? And what about this? And what about this?

Which brings me to the QOD: we're going over to Donna's tonight for drinks and to play dominos.

Darnit. Something else fun happened and I can't think of it at the moment.

(((Ailarie))) Painting is like childbirth. Not much fun while it's happening, but worth the work. Good luck.

QOD: I'm catering to my 17yo and his friends tonight. I actually had plans but they fell through yesterday. So instead of sitting around doing nothing, I went with cooking for the boys and throwing them a party. Go figure. Actually, they are self sufficient. I'll make some extreme nachos, chicken wings and get some sort of dessert and they will do the rest.

Afternoon everyone!

Litch - your house and decorations look gorgeous and so very cozy!

QOD - J and I meet up with a few other friends of ours every year, usually for dinner somewhere in the city. This year we'll be at Blind Tiger, an amazing little bar in the West Village with soooo many tasty brews on tap and a cozy atmosphere. It's a set fee for the night and by reservation only so it won't be the typical bar scene. They'll also be offering some tasty nibbles from local food spots as well as cooking up some items of their own.

Rehi all!

Litch - Wow.. nice holiday decor, and grats to DS!

RIL - You may find it mildly amusing to know that the CN Center is pretty much the start and end of the GA ING Marathon/HM. Those are familar grounds. Glad you're visiting on a wonderfully spring-ish day! The weather is beautiful today!

Kath - we all know you're a talented chica, but it's always great to get reassurance from others. Way to go!

Phase 1 of painting prep is done. I'd actually be into painting now if my spackling material hadn't dried out. Grr. Off to the home improvement store for the second time today. Ironically, I saw some spackling material in the checkout lane a few hours ago and ALMOST grabbed it, but though.. nah.. I have plenty at home. Ahh well. I did get a kick out of the looks that I got carrying around my new axe. (gonna chop down some of the smaller pine trees, when my teeth/ear can handle the jarring motion).

While painting and talk of tree chopping certainly isn't the most fun stuff, it is making me smile at least. If I can't run today, I at least am enjoying home improvement work. I think it's a good way to end the year. As far as I am concerned, 2010 needs to be history!. Out with the old.. in with the new! :)

I'm having deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious chicken veggie soup that Dh made for lunch. Dang this stuff is gooooooood. Hopefully it'll help ease my headache. Dunno if it's from the chiro or the stupid cold that's there but hasn't hit all the way yet. Either way, it needs to GO.

There will be before/after pics, right Ailarie?

QOD: Meeting my Dewey Drink gals for a couple of drinks at the Oak Room at the Copley Plaza, then I'm heading to the Charles Lounge for karaoke for the rest of the night. We hired car service (a van) to take us home, which will be AWESOME when 2am rolls around and we're leaving the bar with 8 million other people.

Hi all. About to do some necessary shopping (groceries, grabbing a ferry pass, and possibly buying a coat that will handle colder temps)

Good seeing you Litch, love the decor, and major congrats to your DS!

Definitely agree with the before/after pics on the paint job, Ailarie

Kath - mmmm, chicken veggie soup: sounds yummy

Tycho looks like a champ in that pic, duck!

QOD: nada. NYE's are pretty much low-key affairs for me in general. But for those of planning some enjoyment tonight, I hope you have a kickass time!

\litch, beautiful room!!! and congrats to DS!

winter, you're a great mom :)

qod: total low key here or, nothing, really. when you have a 4 month old who's bed time is 6:30pm, kind of puts a damper on the partying - lmao.

qoyd: i like to do a good cleaning/scrubbing of the place before the new year rings in. nothing like a squeaky clean apartment for the new year so mom helped me clean before she left.

i owe my mom so much. she pretty much dropped everything in the busiest time of the year to come and help me . shes an amazing mom - i will consider myself lucky if i can turn out to be half the mom she is.

Hey, everyone! Back from my trek to PA. Thankfully, I had good traveling weather to and fro, so no overnight stays or scary driving. Also, no drama at home which is always a plus. Over break, I finished one cross-stitch project, and I just started the next today. I actually got a lot done in 2010. It helps to be working on small projects.

Way to go to Litch's son!

Yikes, Ailarie! I guess I missed something. Hope you feel better soon!

Hugs to those with infants, and hoping that lots of rest is coming your way.

QOD: I always spend NYE with my friend who now lives in Baltimore, so I couldn't swing by on my way back from PA. So, this will be my first NYE in MO. I think I'll just watch the new movies I got for Christmas and work on cross-stitch until my eyes start to cross. I'll probably have a glass of wine but that's all.

Have a great end to 2010 and fabulous beginning to 2011!

Oh, and thanks again to everyone who sent Christmas cards. I had a ton waiting for me when I got back, and it was wonderful. I'll trade out last year's pictures for this year's on my pin board some time this weekend.

Hiya, all. Just came back home from Manhattan where we visited my sister-in-law and her husband and kid.

QOD: We were gonna go to a friend's place in CT for a party, but the party fell thru. So now we have nada on the schedule. That's fine with me. I think I've fallen asleep before midnight on NYE three years in a row, so why not make it four? There's a Hangover 5k near here tomorrow, and I've run it the last couple years. Since I thought we'd be in CT, I figured it wouldn't happen this year. But now that we're around, I suppose I might as well run that. And I might as well get a good night's sleep before it...

Isn't that the place we had a beer at this summer - the place where you met us and J after you got out of your meeting. Sounds perfect.

Will be a quiet night (no complaints - it's currently raining and is supposed to do so the rest of the night) for us. Have to work tomorrow anyway.
I love this.

I was not around for the last two weeks or so, but we had a blackout on Monday - nothing like 20 inches of snow, and then no power (which means no heat or running water). We were out from 1 PM to 10:19. Apparently a picture I took is on the cover on one of the local papers.
