Oooo eeeee my legs were stiff when I got out of bed this morning. That cable class on Wednesday really got me! I can't wait to do it again!

Dangerously bitter cold temps here. -20 at the moment. Mother Nature is a bitch. After that super hot summer I truly thought we were in for a mild winter. HAH!

I am going to try to fit in a run today - loosen up the legs. I just don't know when or how. I think I'll spend some time with Rodney Yee this morning, since I've got time. I'll go in to work late so I can drive DS to school, otherwise he'd have to walk and it's not going to be a helluva lot warmer in 2 hours.

Hee hee - I LOVE today's title BigG. I hear you on the weather thing. It is insanely cold here too.

I did 5 easy on the treadmill last night and 5 more this morning. Although this morning I worked a little harder and did a progressive run. Last mile at goal marathon pace again. I am hoping all of these GMP miles will pay off.

I don't know how you people live out there. I think under +20 is bad enough. Of course, I remember when I lived in Florida, the natives there thought that anything under 50 was unreasonably cold...

This reminds me of something I read in the USA Today one day this week. It was a small article about when is it too cold for schools to have outdoor recess. They were comparing places around the country, and one school in northern Minnesota said that -15 is the coldest they'll allow kids to go outside, but one school in South Carolina said that +30 is the coldest. Quite a difference...

Anyhoo, I did an easy 30 minutes on the TM last night. I'll probably get in another TM run today. I want to run long tomorrow, but we'll see what the road conditions are like. It's supposed to be really cold (meaning, umm, under +20), and I might not want to run outside if it's that cold and still slippery with snow/slush/ice. So I might go for a double-digit TM run tomorrow morning. Fun fun fun.

I find it quite amusing that I look at +20 as a "I should get out there and run while it's warm!" temperature.

I remember one winter when I went to Florida to run the Gasparilla Half (we ended up running the 9k or something due to my running buddy's injury). ANYway, it was something like 45 degrees so we were in shorts and short sleeve tech shirts and the people around us were bundling up and looking at us like we were batshit crazy. We had to keep explaining that we were from Minnesota. hehe

morning peeps.

No idea what's on my fitness agenda today...it's snowing like crazy here and most of the streets haven't been plowed yet, so I might just take Penny for a walk before I bring her to DxH's; we've got a 2 hour delayed opening.

+20 is a BEAUTIFUL day to run :) I mean really, I don't even have the WARM stuff on at that point you know :)

ran 4 miles at the dome last night. There was a news station there doing a story about us runners and someone put out snacks and drinks to welcome us back. It was sooo much better than being outside with the nasty wind. The temp wasn't bad - it was the wind.

Running 3 -4 outside tonight with the dog. She loves this weather and needs the exercise.

Morning all! Still on the p.m. running track and my hand was sorta forced today b/c I knew the park nor the West side path would be plowed yet but I'm sure it'll be good later today... so a run later. As for running in the cold, I don't mind it much at all, it's the stopping of said running when I get really cold, really fast so I need to make runs start and stop at home as best I can.

Low of 40, High of 50 here today. Great running conditions if it doesn't rain hard.

Legs feel better than expected after last night's 9 miles. Taking some Vitamin I before bed seems to help.

Today is a mental health day off for me, the kids have activities this evening and DW is working tonight. I'll have to squeeze in some exercise before 2 pm if I'm going to get anything done. Maybe some wood chopping.

I love running in the cold as long as I'm dressed properly. Most of my winter running gear (except one extreme cold sport hill pair of pants) are in the attic so I haven't had my running gloves, that is what I miss most lately. I'm headed up there today to pull everything down because, like Bob said, this weekend is supposed to be pretty chilly.

I have 6 on tap today and it is sunny out. They plowed at 4 and again at 10 so I'm assuming the roads will be clear this afternoon. I'll just have to be careful for ice. I am doing so good about getting my runs in and getting the miles I'm supposed to done I don't want to miss today as its my first 6 miler. Since the distances in the plan move up at a higher speed than I'm use to I don't want to have to miss any. Not to mention my legs feel very tight each morning so I look forward to getting out there to loosen them up.

I'm so glad I am back at this, can't believe it took me so long to get here but I blame it on my other evil job.

Hey kids - no run this AM, working from home because of snow - about 4-5 inches. Only have 2 on tap, so maybe if my street is in OK condition I can bang it out at lunch.

(crap, how did it get to be lunchtime???)

Getting a "day pass" to a gym that is local to home, so I can use their facilities when Mother nature wants to mess around....

I just may have to do that. Rodney might just make an appearance in the dvd player. I have the neighbors kids here because she had to work and DH is on call so he can't watch them so I might have to move my 6 miler 'til tomorrow.

Greetings, all!

Bi/Tri/Core work is done for the day. I thought about running too, but I've gone for 5 days in a row after being benched, and tomorrow I want to try a LR of yet to be determined distance. Figured the legs might appreciate a day off.

Wood chopping eh? One of my to-do's this weekend is to take my brand new axe and whack at some of the baby (20 feet or so) pine trees in the yard. The larger ones, I won't touch of course, but maybe one day I can get rid of them somehow. (with pines having a more horizontal than vertical structure, and with tornadoes touching down close to my house twice in the past 5 years, I am so afraid that a pine tree will come crashing down my house, like my next door neighbor experienced!.) Anywho.. I figure if I get the small ones out of the way now, at least they won't also become threats to the house!) Eventually I'll plant some oaks or something along that line in their place. I'm thinking that the tree removal thing is going to be an interesting workout in itself!

You know how being cold makes you have to pee? I just got back from running some errands. It's so cold here I can't pee. I think my bladder is frozen.

Well, at first I had no time last night for any fitness, but as the computer was reloading triple-digit Windows updates on the re-install (see fun thread for more deets on the computer issues), I found time for about 50 min of yoga and core stuff. I hope to get in a short run after work before I get back to trying to rescue my tottering computer again.

Speaking of all the shoveling, I read yesterday that one of the unusual uses of non-stick cooking spray was spraying it on your shovel so that snow slips off easier. Does anyone here do that?

Anyway, good runs, workouts & rest days to you all
