Good morning Team LIT!

3000m, with main set of 10x {100 (hard)/50 (easy)} after 1000m of drills. The group swim was cancelled due to the pool closure. It has been a long time since I swam by myself this much. I signed up one and only Swim meet this year on the next Sunday. Including, gulp... 100IM. First Ever. Hope I don't DQ.

7miles easy run soon. May go to Yoga too. Boys are coming back later from the Boy scout trip and DD has been sick in bed. She goes down longer than anybody else in the family when a cold hits.

Enjoy your weekend!

DOR here...did today's run yesterday so I can hang out with 4 friends for the day. Much needed girl time in triathlon form - breakfast, massages, and shopping.

12.2 mile run in 2:20, almost all z2... at that pace I would have handily destroyed my HM PR by 5 minutes! 11:28 pace, nifty... that works ;-) Almost went 13.1 but figured CC would yell at my. I'm guessing next week I'll have a 2:30 run and I'll nail it then.

Working on preparing the nursey to be painted... it's time to split the boys into seperate rooms. Ug, lots of work.

Off to 1 hr sword class

Then probably a quick nap and 2400 in the pool later

Have a great one peeps!

Yoshiko - You'll do awesome at your meet. I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't been in the pool since last Fall.

Jen - That's my kind of triathlon.

Ron - I thought you & L were tackling bathrooms, not kids rooms.

4 COLD miles this morning, even when I was moving.

Good afternoon, TEAM LIT!

RonBo: Dude! (nice run!!!!)

hobey: Don't listen to DrewDad in his ramblings of the "More Miles Than Degress" club. There are no benefits to the group. Really. In fact, the damn truth of the matter is that if it is that cold, and if you want a semblance of quality, take it indoors. Hate to say that... but it is mostly true. An over-rated "group" if you ask me.

Tri-Tammy: Sorry 'bout the knee. Hate when things pop up like that. You've been exceptionally smart about pings and pangs so, honestly, I have no doubt you'll do the best thing to get through this as fast as possible.

Me...

22 mile run with two others. Didn't want that kind of distance, especially having raced 20 last weekend, but good running buddies had it on the schedule and wanted to get it in. Start to finish time was 3:12.

Great day, Peeps!

Yosh...

Yay for you for jumping in on that 100 IM. The most common DG places are the turns from BK to BR, and on the BR pullout. So, just concentrate on swimming a quality race, and you should be fine.

I took my running partner out for a short bike ride this morning, since she had an early-ish meeting that wouldn't give us enough time for the long run this weekend. We'll do the long run tomorrow. She's thinking of doing her first tri this year at the end of August, so we need to get her riding! For once, I was the one in front instead of the other way around. We went out for about an hour, only 11 miles, but it was nice to be back out on the roads, rolling up and over the hills.

Wait, isn't the order Back - Fly - BR - FR???? Yikes I must be wrong. So, what is so tricky about BK to BR?? Boy, I need to talk to the *real* swimmers in the pool. Very soon. And what the heck is BR pull out (you can't pull and kick more than once rule?)

Good job on the 11miles!

Cool/low 40s - Sunny and extremely strong wind w/gusts of 50+. PPRR Winter Series #4. The course is mostly on dirt roads in Black Forest. Almost constant hills. From about mile 8 to 11.5, the course was exposed to the wind and it was very difficult to keep a strong pace. Nothing like running uphill into a 50+ mph headwind to slow down the pace a bit. 3rd in AG.

We're subcontracting the basement bathroom but doing the boy's rooms ourselves due to $ and also because we want the boys to have "skin in the game". We've been working on it for a month and we finally have the room clear, prepping for painting and I think after dinner we will actually start to paint room #1. Then we get the little one moved into there, then we tear apart the other room and paint and so on. At this rate, we will be done by April or May I bet. We just don't have a ton of extra time and if the boys won't work on it - we won't work on it. Period.

the plan was 6 mile the reality was 3 steps and what felt like a sharp knife being stuck into the back of my knee. I can walk pain free. If i try to run within 3 steps the stabbing knife pain is back. I am on hold with kaiser right now.

Edited to add. Doctor said over use injury. Rest for 1 week. I wasn't happy with that so i told him my workout plan for the week and he will let me swim on wednesday, ride/run brick 1 mile run on thursday and swim and run friday. If i feel any pain i am to stop and just rest the leg for the rest of the week.

Yosh....

IM = Butterfly, Back, Breast Free

Medley relay = Back, Breast, Butterfly Free

The difference between the two is that for the relay, you have to have the first person do back stroke, because a relay start with backstroke in the middle would be.....

not good.

The trouble with the turns between BK and BR is that you have to touch the wall while still on your back, and have to push off on your belly. My first IM event, I forgot this, and did a BK flipturn and was DQ'd bigger-n-life!

Since the last Olympics, you're allowed to do a single dolphin kick during the pullout of the BR, but there's a timing to it that I don't understand, so I don't do it. One guy on our team ALWAYS does it, and does it wrong, whenever he's tired. He's tired a lot.

So...my point is,

swim smart....

do what you know ....

trust your training,

and have a blast!!!
