Mom has actually cleared me to run this Thanksgiving morning race. In the past, her exact words were "If you run a race on Thanksgiving, you'll be having cereal for Thanksgiving dinner."<br><br>
So, has anyone ever done this? Comments on it?<br><br>
I'm considering it. Of course, I'm not crazy about the size of the turnout (7000 runners expected this year). I like smaller races.

I did this race in 1999 but not since. I did the 5k (do they still do a 5k and 5mi race?) and had a lot of fun but we weren't trying to run fast and started at the back of the pack. The crowd was huge and I didn't care for that part of it. I don't remember it being an outstanding race by any means but it was fun. I live in Maine now and did the T-day 4miler in Portland last year and I preferred that race.

Thanks for the input folks.<br><br>
I've decided that the Feaster 5 is not for me this year. Mainly because it won't help me fulfill my goal this year. I have a goal of breaking last year's mileage total of 2560. I'm going to have to do a lot of bigger numbers to make it happen. 5 miles doesn't fit into the plan too well.<br><br>
If I can find a 10 mile or something like that for Thanksgiving day, I'll think about that.

That's cool Kevin. You got to work your plan. But, I do agree with Roots. Kicking off your Thanksgiving Thursday with a race is the way to go! For 4 consecutive years, we visited my brother in New Orleans for Thanksgiving and we always raced a 5 mile race there. This year, we'll all converging on my parents house in Knoxville, and the Knoxville Track Club does a Thanksgiving morning 8K so we're racing that together.
