Rawr.

I'm up and getting ready for my LR. Figured with Dad being in town this weekend, and that I'd likely be over at his place to help pack up more stuff, I might as well get the LR in today while I can.

Hope everyone has a FAB day today and a safe holiday weekend.

My company is finally open today, so I get to go back into work for the first time in a week. It should be an interesting day, to see how much crap has piled up (literally and figuratively) because of the storm...

I did an easy 3.2 miles last night. Probably something easy again tonight...

Ailaire! Love starting the day off with a rawr! :) Cool pics too - how did I miss that on FB? Glad you cross-posted. Good luck on that LR!

bOb - good luck getting back to work. Nothing like a one day work week followed by a 3 day weekend!!

I am up and at 'em later than I'd like, but I waited up late for DH to get home from Florida. So when the alarm went off at 4:45, I once again said no. I will run for about an hour, get kiddos on the bus, and then hopefully get a couple more miles in. We'll see. It is 81 degrees out there already. Yikes. The good news is that it is supposed to cool down on Sunday just in time for my 10K. I am moving my LR to Monday (nothing like a 20 on a holiday) and the high is only 67! Yay = sleep in + long run on a holiday.

Kath - again I am glad nephewleenie is okay. Thought you'd like to know he has been talked about a lot here the last few days as the boys get ready to start biking to school again. Helmets, listening, looking, safety. You can't help it when drivers don't look, but we can't make out kids proactive enough about their surroundings.

Prae - glad to hear you had a nice night!

Marier - safe travels to STL!

Groin finally felt ok enough that I thought I could do the butt tape without pissing it off, so I did that for the first time in a couple months (OW!) and ran 3 miles. Suffocatingly humid out. I'm sweating like 10 whole men. Gak.

Thanks, and good!

Sisterleenie got both her boys some cool helmets, so they don't give her too much flack about wearing them. And after this, well..... Ironically enough, N#1's helmet looks like a crash test dummie. I'll have to get the name of the company that makes them and pass it on.

QOD: Not racing, but we are going up to the lake Saturday afternoon to see my inlaws. We've not been able to stay over night in a long time because the dogs aren't allowed in anyone's house, but my SIL refinished the attic over their garage (sanded & painted floors, put up new drywall, a/c), and offered to have us and the boys stay up there. We'll come home Sunday morning though, because Dh has to work Sunday night. What I'm looking forward to the most is firing my new kiln for the first time and potentially having the knitters over to knit on my back deck either Sunday or Monday afternoon.

I had planned to make a bunch of these, but this pair took so long it's just not cost effective.

I'm racing, along with a pile of my teamates. We're making the road trip to Tupelo (birthplace of Elvis and home of 30s runner Maples) for their crazy marathon/HM race.

Tim - have you guys caught any break in the weather yet?

I really hope that this new treatment works for your Dad. I know what it's like to have a parent fighting that fight. Continued thoughts and prayers for your Dad and your entire family.

No, no break in the weather yet. I was in Maryland Mon - Thurs and the much cooler weather there made my running SO MUCH easier. I logged 30.6 miles in 3 days. Got off the plan yesterday afternoon about 3:45 here and it was 96 and humid, partly cloudy. But, there's a tropical storm heading for the Gulf Coast (4 hrs south of here) and that's going to bring about a foot of rain. That'll make things nice and steamy when the sun comes back out after. Yippee!

Morning

Got in 3 sweaty miles after work last night. Heat index was near 100F and really I was the SLOWEST person that showed up..soooo 3 miles went like this 930, 902, 828.

Jeesh

So much for easy.

QOD: I am racing a 10K on Monday. Hoping to PR

Also going home to visit my parents in ND. Found out yesterday that my mom's cancer is back. She had previously stated that she wouldn't do chemo again. She thankfully has changed her mind. Stupid cancer. Stupid cigarettes.

Kath - scary about your nephew. Good that he is ok....scary nonetheless. EEK.

Good luck to other racers!

Sweet Horses - if I ever become super rich, I am having a hobby farm with horses and other people to take care of them :)

Morning all. No workout this morning, no specific workout plan for the weekend. Definitely want to run outside some. I miss it.

We're heading to the lake tomorrow and will have a 4 day weekend because of a teacher workshop day at DD's school.

((Brandy's mom))

Love the horse pictures, and I agree with Brandy that having horses someone else takes care of sounds awesome!

Love the pinecones, Kath!

Go racers, go!

I forget what else...but I'm heading to the doctor soon, so I'll have to catch up after that.

Hey everyone,

Blessed with beautiful weather and a slightly later start to my work day than usual, so I got out for 8 this morning. I'm feeling better about my running than I have in a long, long time. Being idle for as long as I was prior to July was brutal on my self-esteem.

I'll need to go back and read the past 4 or so days, but in the meantime, blanket hugs to all.

Actually, I'll probably be at work tomorrow, in an attempt to make up for some of the time I lost during the flood this week. So I doubt it'll be a 3 day weekend...

QOD: I've got the New Haven 20k on Monday, for the 8th year in a row. My PR was two years ago (1:36:46). I was ten seconds slower last year. I don't know if I'm in PR shape this year, but I'd like to give it a go...

I am stuck being the on-call advisor this morning. It's not my most favorite part of the job. I don't know how many times I've had to say to students this morning "you need to make an appointment with your advisor" and have them balk at that. Good thing it only lasts an hour.

QOD- no races here. We will figure out something to do in the morning/early afternoon and then head down to visit with my sister and her family. Smoked pork tacos and beer brewing are the order of the day.

Morning peeps.

first, Brandy, that SUCKS. I'm sorry. (((((((Hugs to you and your mom))))))))

Moonie, I've run a Hot Chocolate race here in Mass: The Hot Chocolate Run. The swag is a mug! :) (apparently there are now medals too...there weren't when I ran it a few years ago. It was also brutally cold, like 8* and windy.)

As Diane mentioned, it's lovely cool weather here and I'm determined to get in another run this week.

I was up much too late last night. I went to First Thursday stuff in JP Center, then met up with A (who came to see my piece at the gallery, even though it's a little weird for him since my ex is one of the owners...I really appreciated that he came), we met up with a couple other people, went and had some dinner, then went to live band karaoke. But sometimes karaoke just annoys me and I was grateful that A wanted to leave around 11:30. He is heading up to the White Mts today to hike for a day or two, depending on conditions (the Kangamangus Hwy is closed, so he might not get to hike Mt Washington, which is what he intended...he's kind of winging it.) But he was chatty last night when we got in and we talked til after 2am. Oof. I just hope he's ok on his hike and drive.

Good luck weekend racers and runners!!!

And <3 and blessings to Theia and Gov on their nuptials!

aw nuts, Brandy, I missed that part of your post. So now it's Brandy's mom, KP's dad, Theia's dad, and Maria's dad who are all having serious medical issues. Who else am I forgetting? I remember SeesterGoon is doing ok, though it isn't clear what caused her issues the other day. Even when I forget to mention it in my posts, I am thinking about everyone's family and hoping that medical treatments go well. Even if a cure cannot be found, I hope that palliative care is good.

Morning, everyone.

((((Brandy & mom)))) That really sucks.

Hooray for Theia and GoV!

I'm not going anywhere either, but the weekend should be busy. I'm going to a breakfast tailgate (weird) and then an 11:00 football game (weird) on Saturday. Sunday is volunteer t-shirt pick up and prep for next week. Monday, I will volunteer at the finish line of the Heart of America marathon, grab some free pizza, and probably head to the movies to see The Help with my girlfriends.

Hi all - looks like I'm back in the groove again. Back from 5 mi total, 4.2 mi running. Just managed to beat the heat here, though it wasn't a picnic out there. Did get the pleasure (not sure that's quite the right word) of running by Wendy's HQ nearby here, and now I'm enjoying an iced latte.

Ahhh, geez...good vibes to Brandy's Mom and continued vibes to all the ailing 30s parents out there

GoV and Theia - wishing you all the best this weekend and into the future, and hoping that your nuptials are fantabulous!

QOD: like Kris said; Sunday won't be fun as I'll be traveling back to the Bay Area (a two-layover affair to boot). Labor Day will be our fantasy football draft - at least drafting Chris Johnson won't be such a heart-wrenching dealio now heh

Your family is in my thoughts.
GoV- boo on the car wreck but congrats to you and Theia! I hope you're not too banged up but car wrecks are never fun.

Morning all! Working from home today and hoping to squeeze in some miles prior to flying out to STL. Super stoked to be with my whole family this weekend for some hanging out, BBQing, camping and rafting.

(((Brandy’s momma)))

GOOD LUCK TIM, BOB, BRANDY and anyone else racing!!

QOD - no racing but heading to STL, we'll be driving further south to camp on Sat and Sun nights and then do a day of rafting down a river on Sunday. I think J's dad may join us back at my parent's house on Monday for a Labor Day BBQ. Wheee!!
