Well, it looks like my fall season is falling apart, but hopefully others have some successes to report.

We need more racers, too! Come on all you KR lurkers, pony up your fall race! Tim, I'm adding you for NYC.

As per above, it's time for me to throw in the towel on Chicago. About a month ago, and 3 weeks into my training plan, I pulled a hamstring. That caused me to miss 3 weeks of training. Fully recovered, I started getting back into the swing of things last week...even though I was battling poison ivy rashes all over my body!

It was a tough week but I got through it, until yesterday that is, when in a soccer game I got run over by a guy after beating him to the ball. As he fell on top of me, my shoe got stuck in the turf and my PCL made a loud cracking sound. It hurt like hell all of last night and I could barely bend the knee; got it looked at this morning. The good news is it's not "serious," just a hyperextension with no ligament tears. But still that robs me of another 2 weeks minimum. Then when you look ahead at the calendar and do the math, knowing what it takes to get marathon fit by October 9, the hard truth is you just can't get there from where I am right now.

So I will wait and rebuild for the spring, or who knows maybe even a winter marathon down south.

Assuming the projection of 2 weeks is correct I ought to be running again when Maple Leaf comes around in September. If so, I'll run it just for training purposes, no racing.

Beyond that, no plans for the fall. Maybe I'll "target" some turkey trot races late in the season.

Hawk - sorry about all the troubles and that you won't be able to make Chicago, maybe next year. Hope things heal up quick.

Hawk! Bummer - I was so hoping to see you in Chicago! I hope you get rested up and ready for a great race in the spring. Plus I fully intend to hit you up for a run in soon! Very soon!

Z - I hear you on the fading, but I am still sticking that to the weather. It has been an unseasonably hard season here.

My week was not quite as planned. But I was ready to rock some serious numbers. Unfortunately crazy storms and kiddos interfered:

M: 3.5 recovery / arms and abs

T: 9 slow with 7 striders / abs

W: 11 / arms & abs

T: 14

F: 5 recovery

Sa: 5 recovery

Sun: 5.5 with 1.5 at GMP (supposed to be 17 w/10 at GMP but crazy lightening/thunder rolled in and no time to spare - even tho I got up at 4:30 am ON A SUNDAY - as we had a day trip planned for DS's b-day to Six Flags)

Total: 53 (schedule: 65)

I almost did my long run Saturday, but I was just flat and my legs were logs. So I made the call to wait until Sunday, even though we had a busy day. I planned to get up at 4:30 and get in some good miles on fresh(er) legs. Mother nature disagreed. And I protest the weathermen (on 3 different major websites - b/c you know I looked when I made the call) that said we'd be fine Sunday am here in southern WI. Bleh.

Chris - I'm sorry to hear that your injury totally derailed your fall marathon training and racing plans. Hang in there.

Woot! We had a break in the weather here in Bama and it was only 71 degrees when we started our run. Managed a solid 11 miles this morning. My mileage the week should be 70ish and I'm starting to feel like my marathoning legs are coming back around. We'll see.
