Hey everyone, our spring training thread died off some as we hit summer. My summer training was non-existent due to a hefty work schedule, but I am now back on track and beginning to focus on Chicago. Let's get back into gear with our goals and training updates. Who's in?

I'm in for Chicago as well. 3:10 or bust. Sounds like a meet-up is in order!

My tune-up race for Chicago will be the Maple Leaf HM in Manchester VT on 9/10. It's right near my parents' house so it all works out nicely for combining a race and a visit.

I've actually been in training for a couple of weeks. But I hit a little bump in the road a few days ago, tweaked my left hamstring during a tempo run in humid conditions. Luckily it doesn't seem too bad though and I am pretty confident I'll be back on track in a week or so. I'm already able to walk 3-5 miles. I just want to make sure I clear it all up so it's not a recurring issue.

I always enjoy this thread, going through the ups & downs with everyone. Hopefully we all rock it on race day this autumn!

Hey guys - glad to see you back! A meet-up is definitely in order for Chicago!

zrun - I wish I could meet up for the Madison Mini, but I will be in DC for a baptism that weekend. It is a great race though. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Last year it was warm and very humid - the year before it was ideal. You never know. But it is well organized and definitely a good idea to sign up for the corrals.

Anyone hear about the half marathon at summerfest last weekend? I guess they had to shut it down and 10 or so people ended up in the hospital due to the heat. It was crazy warm and humid here last weekend - I cannot even imagine lining up for a half. I understand it was very poorly organized and they ran out of water. I am not surprised as I had heard early on that it was an event being put on by non-runners, which would explain why they initially had an 10:15 am start time for a half marathon in July!!

That would be awesome. We haven't purchased tickets yet, but we are hoping to go 8/19-22. Long run may work the 20th since the 19th and 22nd are travel days and the 21st is the baptism. Although it would be fun to go shorter too if that is all that will work out. Let me know if you'll be around and I'll keep you posted.

Too bad you won't be there! Thanks for the tips, I did e-mail in a corral assignment... actually the Poconos marathon was the only race I've done in the time period that gets me into corral 3. Should be fun, I'm looking forward to it. Do you have a half planned before Chicago?
