Me! Heading up to Duluth today, Grandma's marathon at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Looks like it may be rainy, but cool with a tailwind, so I'll take it. I believe Baggs is also doing Grandma's.

Good luck to Theia - which race are you doing?

Whenever it is and whoever is doing it, I hope you guys kick Grandma's ass!

I'm racing a 5-miler on Sunday in Branford, CT. I checked my schedule, and the last time I did a 5 mile race was a Turkey Trot a year and a half ago. Geez, I don't even remember doing a race then... I guess I'm getting senile now that I'm in my 40s...

Yup, my first tri of the season tomorrow. It's just a small sprint, more of a tune-up race/hard training day than anything! But of course I'm still putting ridiculous pressure on myself to perform.

Greetings all!

Good luck to our weekend racers! Vroom!

I burned a vacation day today, and got my long run of the weekend done. 10 miles in horribly humid weather. UGLY humid! Ugly! Borrowing a quote from Scaramouche Tortuga, we're talking "Cat butt in your face, first thing in the morning" ugly! But, 10 were done, and like Pippin (From LOTR), I am ".. sitting on a field of victory enjoying a few well earned comforts." (which means I've had a cup of milk + some gravy biscuits! /drool)

Morning all! My Friday bridges run was compromised by the big storm this morning and although I was already awake and planning to still run in the park, I went back to bed. Will get my butt out later today.

Good luck, weekend racers!

There's a nice run a couple of hours from here on sunday morning. I've wanted to do it for a few years now but something always comes up. This time it's DH wanting to go fishing. But he said they "might" not go. They might wait til last minute to decide. Which kinda sucks for me because today is the last day to register online and there's no race day registration. So it doesn't look good for taking part.

Good luck weekend racers! Go get Grandma, RFTL and Baggs!!!

I had a solid 1.2 mi swim at the open water swim last night. Felt really good.

And then, although I was awake at 2am and never really got back to sleep 'cause my nose was all clogged up and I couldn't breathe (wtf?!), I got out of bed before 5am to get 6 miles run this morning before work. I need a nap.

Hi all - may try to sneak in a Chili Palmer (i.e. Get Shorty) run today of three miles or so if I'm not too pooped to pant after work.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend (Theia, boB, Baggs, Cindi and anyone else who may be toeing that line!)

Oh and I am dangerously close to committing to a half. If I wanted to be talked out of it, I know I came to the wrong group

Go for it, Beaker!

I was looking at the online results from the 5k I did last weekend. I won my age group! I thought I'd come in second but not according to those results! Wooooooooooeeeeeeeee! Sure, all the fasties did the 10k instead of the 5k, but still...I'll take it! It took me many years of running to finally break the 30 minute mark for a 5k and now I'm close to breaking the 25 minute mark!

Go, Bob, Theia, Baggs, RFTL, and hopefully Clare!

I finally found my way back to the pool this morning. Oof. Not comfy at all. There's a 4 week adult swim program here that I'm considering to force myself to spend the extra time focusing on it. There is nothing focused about my fitness right now, but J and I have nearly agreed on a new plan :)

Ann - the one I use most is not the one that came with my Garmin but rather a very standard model from Polar. It's inexpensive and the watch has only a few functions so it's not overly complicated. This is the one: http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/get_active/running_multisport/RS100/
