Morning all..about to head out soon--chilly out and I haven't run in the dark in a bit so trying out a new headlamp and vest. I think it will be very unlikely if I end up racing this weekend, but if I do, it will also be slow. I'm deciding when I get there. I wish they had a 10k and I'd do that for sure...

Loved the place names, yesterday. Glad you are healing, KP...sorry you feel cutt-y. Hope the baby is OK, Lori?

I had a baddd day at work yesterday...twice with upset parents calling, student in my class was cheating on an exam and I had to kick them out, a meeting about something ridculous that took...get this 2 1/2 hours so I missed a beer offer with a friend.

I'm gonna git outta town today! Yay! Can't be soon enough! I get to see my auntie whom I adore...it will be good.

Hope you are all groovy today. I'm out the door for 5-6 right now. No..now. NOW. :)

QOD--A friend and I were discussing this last night: what is a job that you've always wanted to do (not the one you currently have) either fun or serious if money/time/talent was really no object? My serious one is wildlife or marine biologist. My ridiculous one is to be an organist in some big cathedral somewhere just pounding on the pipes. :)

Morning all. Lots of running aruond this weekend getting stuff done as Craigy has to work..all..freaking..weekend. Going to look at the only 2 book stores in the area and hit up costco.

QOD: I've always wanted a book store/cafe/knitting shop. With big squishy couches, a massive woodburning fire place and relaxed atmosphere.

I've also wanted to run/own a bed and breakfast. When I was a kid I would take my mom's Domestications magazines and cut out all of the bedding pictures and design B&B's throughout the country.

boB - I have always pronounced Newark as NEWark, wiht the emphasis on the first syllable. Folks in Deleaware refered to their capitol as newARK, with the emphasis on the second syllable.

Ron - When my wife was pregnant with DD, her OB-GYN office was Dicker and Weiner. No joke.

No run yet - just have an easy 40 minute run on the schedule, so I hope to get out at lunchtime.

QOD - I have three - either a photographer, running a microbrewery, or running a bread bakery. All are complete fantasies.

Decent night of sleep makes for a better start to the day. K is managing well and we have the pain meds on a good schedule, so 'discomfort' is the worst descriptor being used right now.

The bamboo massage did not involve beating, so that was good :) I'll stick with my normal massage spot for the regular stuff, but I wouldn't say NO if someone wanted to go back to this place.

QOD: All of my fantasy jobs are ruined by reality. I love the idea of a bed and breakfast or a small retail shop, but I have zero tolerance for complaining customers or some of the day to day tasks that a small business owner would have to do themselves to actually make money (mopping, cleaning toilets, etc.)

Off to the eye doctor... I suspect a script change, but I'm getting new glasses either way. I might even choose something fun...if I don't chicken out.

I did a 4 mile run last night and it was fabulous. It was pouring rain but not windy or cold. I had a lot of lungs and energy in my legs, for some odd reason. It was fantastic. Maybe it was just nice to get back to a shorter distance rather than the long ones I've been doing lately.

I found my next pair of shoes but now I'm waiting to see if they have them at the running store in Moncton (I have friends going to Moncton this weekend for a marathon so if the store there has them I'll get them to bring me home a pair). Fingers are crossed!

Greetings, all.

Meh.. still fighting the head cold thing over here. I'm on the upward swing, at least, but not recovered enough to be going without cold meds. (stupid runny nose!). RIL - Hope you and Jake are improving, as welll

QoD: As simple as it sounds, I'd love to be someone with a therapy dog - visiting kids in hospitals and nursing homes. I know technically, that's not an impossible task, but Pippin and Gypsi do not fit the profile for therapy beasties, so this ideal will be something to consider on down the line.

Good luck to anyone racing this weekend!

this lady I know has a therapy mini pony. He's 34 inches tall and jumps right up in the back of her van. All of the residents at the local nursing homes love him

Good morning, boys and girls. I ran an easy 4.5 miles last night. Tonight I will continue my new Friday tradition for going for a swin at the Y. And tomorrow is a HM. I don't know if I really have a goal for this, since I haven't really trained much. I suppose I'll say that I'm shooting for a 1:45, but I doubt I'll hit that. 1:50 is a lot more likely...

QOD: I used to always say that my dream job was to be the worst guy in the NBA. Even though I don't really like the NBA, they have the highest minimum salary of any of the pro leagues. (Well, when they aren't locked out, that is). Minimum salary is something like half a million per year. So I'd be very happy to collect that money and sit at the end of some team's bench, only needing to get up and play during garbage time. Do that for a few years and I'd almost make as much money as I will slaving away here as a Design Engineer for my whole career. But oh well. I'm a 40 year old white guy under six feet tall. I doubt I'll ever get my chance...

How long until someone says their dream job is to be a porn star? Or is PacerChris the only one who would have said that?

Oh thank goodness it is freakin' Friday!! It's not been a bad week by any means, just feels like it has dragged. The wet, gloomy weather hasn't helped with that.

QOD- I think it would be fun to be part of the chain gang for the NFL. I don't want to be the one holding the thing that shows what down it is, I'm sure I'd forget to flip it and give someone an extra down like that college game years ago. I just want to stand there, holding a stick, getting out of the way when necessary, and get paid to watch football.

Hi all - my nephew I think is in serious knowledge suck-up stage, at least when the topics interest him. For the last week, he's been asking me to remind him about the functions of the various teeth (e.g. incisors cut your food), which isn't surprising since he has started to lose his baby teeth. He's also seriously into maps - when the local news flashed a graphic showing intensity levels for areas surrounding last night's earthquake (yes, a second one - this one hit in the same area as the one I felt in the afternoon, but this second one was slightly less intense and I did not feel it), he was all into asking what all the colors meant and then the related descriptors.

With the twin quakes yesterday, plus yesterday being an earthquake awareness day (they got to dive under their desks as a drill at school), both he and my niece are all into the subject at the moment. She kept asking me whether being in one place was better than another in a big earthquake and that she hoped she was at home when it hit. In reality, I hope they or any of my family members are nowhere near the epicenter of the next big one when it hits this area, but since we all live here, that's a bit of a tall task for which to hope.

Good luck to any racers this weekend! Do we have anyone toeing the line?

QOD: In the "if I took the other path" vein, I wished I had taken atmospheric science in college; I liked watching the folks doing weather on TV and thought that would be a super-cool job to have.

In the more fantasy-realm type job, I'd love to be a successful scriptwriter with continual side jobs doing voiceover work to keep the cash flow steady.

I was texting with my sis, Jen, while the 2nd quake was happening; she was MEGA nervous. We've talked at length about the "big one" in the past, it's so scary to imagine.

Wippy - I heard Bridesmaids was hilarious, but I haven't seen it.

Ailarie - my headcold is still really bad. My stomach finally feels a little better today though. Thanks for asking. I hope we all improve in time for the weekend. As much as you enjoy horses, I am surprised you didn't say therapy with horses. :)

QOD: Photographer. I have always loved photography. Now I just pretend with my kiddos and GOTR.

Still in the midst of my "week of gluttony" so no exercise yet. I did have some franch fries last night too. MMMMMMMM.

Kath - thanks re Jake. He does have one more game, so hopefully he'll get to do his RB magic again.

FIL comes into town tonight for the weekend. Always stresses me out some, but I'm sure it will be fine. He came into town to watch James' big game tomorrow, which is really nice. James already seems a little stressed though - I hope he has a chance and makes a big play. He wants it SO BAD.

Athleta - oof I would be in big trouble if they opened one here. I love that store/catalog.

Clare - yay! You are going to be so ready for NYCM!
