Who's racing or LR'ing?

I know we have lots of race tapering going on out there right now, so easy, easy. Your arm or face is not going to fall off and the weather you can't control, so just enjoy your rest time and hang in there. :)

I'm up for an easy peasy 4-5 today, some strength yoga later, then 8 at a ridiculously early time tomorrow with some tempo paces mid-run.

I hope everyone has a very well deserved good weekend with some rest, peace and time to enjoy the start of fall. The leaves are justtttt starting here.

I'm going to buy a pumpkin this weekend. Yes, yes I am.

Greetings Cranie, and all who shall follow.

I'm heading for my LR in about 15 minutes. (still need for it to get light enough for me to drive into town) The Vampire Diaries series had the town square closed up last night for filming - hopefully everything is back to normal this morning. While filming is important (local businesses make some good $$ while the cast/crew are here), selfishly, I do not want to have to scurry around and find a detour to my running route! :)

After that (and the shower and recovery stuff), I'm headed out for a few errands. Though I'm not a craft-sy person in the least little bit, I saw a couple of wreath ideas online yesterday, and I just might stop by the local Michael's location to see if they have proper supplies.

Okay.. time to get my a$$ off the couch, finish getting ready, and move it outta here. Be safe out there, guys! ((((((((((((((( 30's ))))))))))))))))))))

Morning Melis!

Good luck with your long run Ailarie! I hope it is better than last weekend. And I wish you had the weather we have here - it is cool, crisp and just beautiful. I love the fall in Wisconsin! Leaves are starting to change here too. It is the time of year it can still get hot anytime, but the last week+ has been absolutely lovely. Fingers crossed that it will be this way on 10.9.11.

Speaking of 10.9.11 - I will be running my 12th marathon. How cool is that?

Whole family just had pancakes for breakfast and we are soon going to head out to DS1's first football game. Yay! I will run after that - just some nice easy, peasy miles and striders before my race tomorrow. No real long run for me. I am going to do my w/u + 10K + c/d = long run.

Oh, and I slept AWESOME last night! Yay. Bout time baby.

Good luck Brandy - I don't know if her 10 miler is today or tomorrow.... But GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!

Good morning, folks. Good luck to the racers and long runners!

I'm about to head outside for an easy few miles. Dunno how far, but it'll be less than an hour.

One last time, I'll pimp my Race Report for Utah, in case anybody hasn't seen it yet but still wants to...

Whew. I'm back from 11. Wanted 13.1, but I pushed the pace a little, and at 11, decided that it was best to call it feeling well, than to end up with another week of defeat. (had to redeem myself from that horrible run last weekend). At 11 miles this week, pace was 11:10. Last week it was 12:00, so I feel better. Still thinking that 10:18 is not a possibility for GR at this point, but who knows with cooler weather and some well-rested legs. I'll give it my best shot, no matter what, and if it doesn't happen this time, there will be another event to shoot for.

Good luck tomorrow, RIL!

Time to get my butt in gear and head out for errands. Though now I want pancakes, damnit! :)

2.25 mile run followed by a walk that took me to 3.9 overall. Not too bad.

I have to say I'm glad I didn't run with my iPod today. Had a toddler say hi to me when I passed her family on their walk, chatted briefly with a youngish grandma and her lookalike granddaugher. And at about 1.3 miles into my run, I had to run on the narrow concrete sidewalk because the asphalt bike path on the other side of the street had a section being rebuilt. Well, I was passed by another runner, a man running maybe 8:00? I was in the 13-14:00 range, I'm sure (I didn't have my Garmin but I know that's about my pace right now), and when he passed me, he said "looking good". That felt good, I have to say. I am slow, heavier than I should be, and can only run about 2 miles at a time, and that little boost helped me make sure I made it to that 2.25 mile mark before I started to walk.

I love runners. They/you/we are the best for things like that.

10 miler is tomorrow - weather looks good...i'm aiming all my good vibes on my freaking foot...bad foot!

Kris - most runners are good for stuff like that! Some are a*holes. :)

I need to sleep awesome :( Maybe I'll take a nap

anywho...ran a little over 3 this morning while out supporting my team at a local 5k. We had the first 3 women and 3 out of the top 4 men. :) Woot! It is a small one but still..that is impressive. Pretty much everyone ran faster than I would have so I am glad I didn't race and finish dead last in the group. bah. The guy who won though gave his award to me (a loaf of great harvest raisin bread) as he and his wife are doing a gluten free thing right now. sweet!

yup - going to take a nap for sure...man...I am tired

This afternoon Dh was over getting a dog fix next door with Russell-the-boxer, and talking to our neighbor Lisa. Lisa's sister Sue was our vet. At some point over the last couple days, Lisa and Sue were talking about what had happened, and Sue told Lisa that Jack and Gus were 2 of the practice's favorite dogs, and that everyone who works in the practice is mourning them. :sigh:

Easy 4 today. Had to go to a work thing and I have to say, there is nothing worse than dressing up big fancy pants on a Saturday when what you really want is 3 more hours of sleep and sweats.

Welcome back Tonya. (and presumably K soon).

Brandy - I hope your foot feels better. Take it easy tomorrow if you have to and keep your eye on the prize! Congrats to your running group too.

I had a fun day. DS's team won, which was super fun. The damn Noles lost, which sucked. I had a nice little run in cool temps and drizzly rain. Just got done stretching and am going to hit the hay early tonight. Weather looks ideal for tomorrow's race.

Oouch. Quads are quite miffed at me today. Tis all good though. I'll take an extra rest day for the net positive effect (or confidence at least) from yesterday's LR. Anyway - I have a day trip with mom & my stepdad today, and I'm sure we'll be walking around a good bit. At least that will help loosen the legs a bit. :)

Morning peeps.

No running or other exercise to report alas. However, I did get a bunch of costuming done yesterday for a show I'm working on that I'm so far behind on, I'm terrified. We open Oct 3.

Yesterday I went to the Life is Good Festival...it was great! Saw Martin Sexton (local guy, love him), Michael Frante and Spearhead (fantastic!), Ingrid Michaelson, and (OMG) Avett Brothers (AWESOME SAUCE). So good. Going again today...headliner is Ray LaMontagne whom I've wanted to see for years...very excited.

I'm gonna head over to Open Studios for a bit now though, because I didn't get to go yesterday at all. Hate missing out on seeing so many local artists in one weekend, and we're not going to head back to the Festival til about 1:30, so I have time. Hot and humid here, btw...very unseasonable.

Oh and I made muffins this morning. Not bad...I followed a recipe on the Bob's Red Mill multigrain hot cereal package, and added dried cranberries, almonds and vanilla.

Great runs all!

Good to see you back, T.

GOOD LUCK, Prae!

Hi all - I crashed out pretty early after coming back from the Pacific NW late Friday. Saturday felt unproductive by comparison to the previous two work weeks and I felt like a slug, but I did get a fair amount done in retrospect, including some random shopping, e-mail tinkering, photo scanning, job applying, and a 6.7 mile run. The latter felt really nice compared to the forced 6.6-miler I did for my birthday a couple weeks back - felt like I could've gone on a couple more miles yesterday before starting to really feel it.

I was sorta' bummed out Saturday morning - headed up to Napa for a decadent breakfast treat (a strawberry croissant, as it turned out) when I saw the downtown had been blocked off for what turned out to be a running event. When I asked one of the female runners what it was, she said it was a 6K(?!) run through the town - that distance didn't sound right, but sure enough, I checked later online and that was the correct number. Could've picked up a cheap distance PR without trying that hard

Maureen - sounds like fun! They have a Life Is Good store at the Seattle airport - I wanted to check it out, but I got out of work a lot later than I wanted and literally got to the gate as they were starting to board the plane.

Good vibes to your foot Brandy and speedy mojo to you and our other racers!

Continued hugs to the rest of you ((((((30s)))))) - this was the first song that popped up on my iTunes this morning and it just seemed appropriate, especially with all the turmoil various folks have been going through of late (this is a pretty cool live version to boot)

Moon, that's amazing. I sat down at the piano about 15 minutes ago and played the same song! Vibes are strong today!

I cut and moved lots of firewood yesterday. We had 7 trees cut down recently and I'm turning 6 into firewood. Today I get to stack it, so I'll get a nice arm workout. We'll season it for a year or two then split it and use it in the wood stove.

I've got a follow-up with the surgeon tomorrow. I think he's going to give me the stink eye for not taking it easy enough on my ankle.

Weird, I think I just heard my name on This American Life.
