Yah for it being the end of the workweek!

I got 3M in last night. Still short of what I"m normally doing on the Tm after work, but it was easier than Wednesday's 2M, so I am considering that progress.

Missybabe - Argh on AK's allergies, but as others have mentioned: Allergy awareness is so much more than what it was a few years ago, at least!

Kath - do we get to hear the news today?

Morning all

Stayed up WAY to late watching that train wreck of a game last night. I do have to say I love how excited baseball players get when they are running out on the field celebrating. Tonight is going to be tense tense tense

m ornnnnihibguibwuiabeaeihgjhiodning. House alarm went off at 2 AM. That's not a good thing and scary in the middle of the night, but we think was our cat trying to pry the door open. A) It's 2 AM and cold, WTF, kitty? 2) This has happened before and f the door contacts are really THAT sensitive, time for some weekend projects...

I really TRIED to watch baseball, I just really...don't have patience for it unless i'm there. I tried in earnest last night. I really did.

I also can't motivate myself out the door this AM for a run or on the TM. Will try a little later. I think I'm just tired and a little burned out.

New running shoes this weekend , I've decided what to be for several costume parties we have tomorrow night (one is Sage's), so that's all good :)

NICE Kath!!! :) I love it when true talent and hard work is rewarded.

I was knitting while I was watching the game last night and when the Cards tied the game I accidentally slipped a stitch and had to tink back 3/4 of a row. I think I knitted 4 whole rows of stress right in that baby cardi, poor kid.

Our Saturday went from way over-committed to BARELY committed, and I'm totally excited! Now, to have the discipline to spend the time wisely!

I went to the gym this morning. 10 min walk - 10 min run/walk intervals - 10 min walk. Slight aggravation in the heal, but no pain (yet, sometimes it comes later in the day). Also spent some time in the cage going through the stuff the PT has me do. I might need a cage at home. If I win a big jackpot, I'll get one;)

Morning!

Missy - glad you got out for a nice run.

Craney - boo for house alarms and having to work harder for fitness. I hear you - I am there too, but in complete denial anyway.

Amy - sounds like a nice Saturday to me!

Shannon - it is cold here too - 29 degrees.

Ailarie - feeling better?

Yay Kath!

Hiya Wip.

No run for me today again. Fun: packet pickup this afternoon for the Haunted Hustle Marathon. As I mentioned previously, I signed up for the full a few weeks ago knowing it would sell out. I can switch to the half for no fee, so I am going to. Although I am not going to race it. 13ish is about the distance I was thinking of running this weekend anyway and it will be a lot more fun with hundreds of other people. I'll probably plan to run 9 m/m. This is kind of outside my territory though - I have never run a race as a training run. So that will be hard. But I know I am not ready to race it and I know I want to race a half the following weekend, so I know I can keep myself in check.

Have a happy Friday.

morning peeps

After work yesterday I walked the dog for about 2 miles and then did 30 day shred. oy...one of these days I will get through the 3rd circuit of level 3 w/o modification. One day!

Ran 3 this morning

Good/bad - I realized this morning that the concert I thought was tonight is actually tomorrow night. Good because I am tired and going out tonight was not appealing. Bad, Saturday night downtown on Halloween weekend plus 2 parties we can't go to now (one of them being sages) plus I got an email from friend saying she can't wait for Saturday night and to see us but I have no recollection of what I have planned with her.

morning gang...

Shannon - no worries about the pics being here! If anyone does want to see what it looked like, I put one of them up on my blog.

baseball - nope, can't watch it on TV unless I'm desperately in need of something to bore me to death.

Nothing else for me - just hoping to make it through the next two days: we're hosting a big volleyball tourney today and tomorrow that I've got to cover simply because tomorrow we also have a big soccer doubleheader that I can't work in my present condition. I'd much rather be at the soccer game tomorrow - not that I dislike volleyball!!!! - but the soccer game is the last regular season match with a big rival and the outcome will determine the final standings in the conference.

howdy strangers- sorry I've been MIA. Life has gotten in the way. Went out for my b-day last night with a friend and had 2 drinks- I feel like crap this morning. Getting older sucks. Grayson turns 1 tomorrow- given the fact that I had doubts at time he would make it to one it's monumental so we're having a party for him and he's wearing a tuxedo.

In exercise news, I've been trying to do a short run a couple of days a week at lunch and have been thinking of training for the Surf City Half in early Feb. I've also been doing a lot of Bikram yoga. My weight is not budging though which is frustrating.

Just wanted to say hi and hope everyone is doing well.

Nice to see you, KJ! Happy belated birthday! And happy early birthday to Grayson! I hope you share some pics of him in his tux!

I got in a nice run last night. I was just going to take it easy, get the new shoes broken in. And on my way back a guy passed me and I decided I'd try to keep up with him for a while. Well, it was exhilarating! I got into a really good rhythm and kept within a short distance of him. When he turned off, I hollered out, "Thanks for the tempo!" and he laughed and said, "No prob!" The new shoes are great but I had to readjust the laces a few times.

Ugh! I just turned 40 last week and this is NOT true. I just looked over Running USA's 2010 marathon report and guess what age group has the fastest average marathon time? M40 - 44. So, that means that all men in that age group averaged together run marathons quicker than the average for all other 5 year age groups. So, somebody's getting quicker out there. My theory is that this is the time when hobbiest runners hit their peak due to the cumulative effect of years of training.

I need a coffee IV this morning after staying up watching the game. That was one of the best baseball games ever. If you couldn't watch that game, then there's no hope for you. The Rangers were one strike away from winning the World Series twice!!! and they lost the game and may well lose the series now.

morning peeps.

I've had what my sister called "Angry Ovary Syndrome" for the last few days, to the point where I was so afraid I was going to throw up at my desk on Wed, I had to go home and stayed home all day yesterday too. Good lord, I have never been in so much pain.

Also, I've concluded I need a new mattress ASAP. Went to bed last night and my back felt pretty good from laying on my firm couch all day. Woke up this morning, barely able to move again around 5am. I went back to sleep on the far side of the bed, where I never sleep and woke up feeling better again...the mattress, which isn't that old, has got to go. It's a pillow top and it's too soft for me. Esp since I never move in my sleep so there's a dent in the mattress from laying in the same spot all the time.

I miss running...I really do. But I just can't seem to get into a routine with it again. I've been home a lot more often lately, but I'm still not getting out there.

Missy, I was thinking about you the other day (before you mentioned AK's allergy)...you are so strong and smart, and you made it through the tough first months with her. Now you'll figure this out too. She's a happy, beautiful little girl and that's because of you (and DH.) (((((hugs))))) anyway.

I've missed a ton, but ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) to the lot of you and happy times, good vibes, strength, healing and fun to our little group.

Okay, now that I know everything is okay, it was hard not to laugh at that scenario. Not that it was in the least bit funny in the morning, I'm sure. I'd have tossed the dogs in the bathroom, closed the door, and grabbed some weaponry to await what I assume would be coming to my closed bedroom door. Your kittykitty is going to find some double sided tape on the door, me thinks. At least until a bigger weekend project gets that door to shut securely without any movement! :)

Thanks for asking. Still fighting some congestion and medium to mild vertigo, but both are sllloooowwwwllly disappearing. I wish they'd disappear a bit faster though. I have another HM on Thanksgiving and would prefer not to lose a lot of cardio/muscle strength between now and then! :)

Btw - how are YOU doing? Still fighting the congestion crap? Take it easy on your HM this weekend.. just trot along and enjoy the scenery! :)
Yah for seeing you here, KJ, and a double RAWR for Grayson's 1 year birthday! You guys have been on an amazing (both in pleasing and scary emotions, alike) roller coaster ride this year!

Btw - does anyone in the know happen to have info on when the new Mizuno wave riders should be out? I've heard Nov/Dec, but am getting a little antsy about wondering when. Supposedly, the fit (especially around the heel area) returns to be more like the preceding model, which makes me (and my achilles) very happy. RIL - was it you that used the 14's and they didn't work for you, either? If I've got that backwards and they DID work - do you by chance happen to want a pair of 9.5's? Mine (orange trim) have probably less than 30 miles on them, and I just can't wear them. Even walking in them one day was annoying my achilles. So... either I find someone who could make use of em, or they get tossed in the goodwill pile. Speak up if anyone is interested!

Good morning all!! Like others I stayed up to watch the game, my siblings and I coordinated the wave via text messages ... and hot damn, IT WORKED!!! So very proud of the Cards and some amazing play last night after innings and innings worth of crappy errors. I'm hosting book club tonight but it is going to have to share time with game 7.

Pried myself up this morning to meet some running friends for yoga at a studio I've never been to before. It was a great change and a slower paced class focusing on alignment, honestly the best kind of class I could have had today esp. it being in the morning. I'm a bit more creaky in the a.m. hours.

Or... another possibilty is that those who hit 40 find it to be harder to keep working at it all and they give up - leaving the 40-44 group with fewer and probably faster runners for consideration of that average time :)

See, I always theorized that by the time most men hit their 40s 2 things have occurred

1) if they have kids, the kids are normally a little older (i.e not babies or toddlers).

2) a stable "career" job

Both situations would allow the men to actually allott more time to training and produce overall faster times. In addition, you also have the faster younger men aging out of shorter racing (just do to recovery time etc.)
