Hello! Zoe and I went for a nice lil run on the roads in PERFECT fall weather today. The brief break inbetween rainy weeks. My one foot is still bothering me with the blisters from my 100

After my 50K night run last weekend, this was a drop down weekend for me. I spent Saturday marking trails for a 25/50K trail race that I'm organizing next spring. Then Sunday I ran about 2 hours in Gatineau Park.

Glad to see the fall colors Markc7. I noticed ours are starting to turn/fall.

4 hour run on Saturday in just lovely cool, sunny weather. It's the first run I've had in the 60 degree range since the Spring. Sunday was another 2 hours on some local trails in a misty rain followed by an afternoon at Busch Gardens. I was disappointed that they closed all the soft-serve ice cream stores. Come on people! It's never too cold or rainy for ice cream! We eventually found a store that had hard pack ice cream at least. A few scoops of chocolate chip mint placated me (daughter enjoyed rainbow sherbet with sprinkles.)

If I'm reading the stats right, Marc finished Grindstone in the top 40. Congrats! Hope the weather was as nice as along the coast. Look forward to a report!

My own running took a back seat over the weekend. Took my sister and my nephew for a short trail run on Saturday, and then by his request, led my nephew on a road run this evening. He's 13 and its his first season of XC. He's the number 2 runner on his team, and finished 4th overall in his last race. He's really excited about running and has a strong future ahead of him if he keeps with the sport.

runNYtrails -- closed roads? That's a really nice looking stretch of pavement for a bike race!

Yes ! A unique opportunity to ride a newly built stretch of Rte 219 in the southern tier of WNY. It is not officially "open" yet so no vehicular traffic !

My brother was the RD and excepting for the weather it was a very cool event ! I just rode the Citizens race cuz i really havent been riding much this year .... or this decade

Looks like good times!

I ran two races this weekend, starting with the New Hampshire Marathon. Things were going great for until the 10th mile when I pulled something near my groin on a steep downhill. After a mile or two I adjusted my pace just to get me in sub-3 hours, but then it started hurting on the flats so after a while I backed off to 8 or 9 minute pace. I was able to pick it up to 6:40s for the last mile+ without too much discomfort, and came in at 3:09:32 I think.

So, that was Saturday's race. On Sunday, I mostly skipped my warmup since the groin wasn't happy with me and I decided no time goals, just run what's comfortable and walk the downhills at the Maine Marathon. Thankfully, after the first mile I found that what was comfortable was around 7:30/mile pace, although I took the opportunity to run with a lot of different people (and to walk, in some cases) so most of my miles were in the 8-9 minute range. When I was running, though, it was at 7:30/mile. (I did run w/a relay runner late in the race at sub-7 pace for 3 or 4 miles until we came to a downhill.)

I saw a friend of mine that I used to run with a lot but haven't had much to do with for the past few years about 13-14 miles into the race when he was a few minutes behind the pace he needed for his BQ, and then caught him again in the last couple miles when he looked about how I must have at that point in my last marathon. So, I ran (/walked) him in to the finish line. I finished with a smile on my face and very comfortable with a new personal worst time of 3:50:35.

That gives me a new PR of 7:00:07 for back-to-back marathons, which I should be able to beat pretty handily in the future if I can run them healthy. Other than the strained groin, nothing hurts or feels out of sorts, so I call it a successful weekend even if I didn't get my pair of sub-3s that I wanted.
