Tree went up last weekend :)

I ran the Bartram 100 and took a 100K finish. I had a really nasty fall about 4 miles before I hit 100K. Worse fall I ever had on the trail, by FAR. I thought I had broken my arm. My friend who was running with me, she and i walked to the start/finish and there was no medic, so we decided to do a "spur" to complete the 100K. One very nice runner there is an ER nurse and CAME TO MY HOTEL! and checked me out and says it is a very bad bone bruise. I am relieved. But still in pain. there was some really thick matted grass (like 18-24 inches?) and there was a root. I caught it and flew up in the air and landed square on my knee and arm. I just laid there for at least five minutes before i could get up. Sigh. The race was great for an inaugural race and I would go back. There was heavy freezing rain, but that is VERY unusual for that area of GA.

Sorry to hear about the injury Merigayle! Sounds far more painful than anything I've done (so far - give me some time)

I had a very pleasant long run on Saturday in cold (33 deg?) humid (close to 100%) weather. Very strange. It began to rain about an hour after I finished up. Sunday was a rest day. We took the extended family to see the Lion King (Broadway show version) as a Christmas present. Amazing costumes! I'd love to show up at a 5K in that cheetah costume to race.

I kept you Hellgate runners in mind on Saturday. Looks like you had decent (for Hellgate) weather. Congrats to all!

Sorry to hear about the fall, Meri...but glad to hear that it's "just" a bruise. Nevertheless, congrats on covering the 100k!!

Yes...the tree went up yesterday & today was our annual group -pre-Xmas run & brunch.

Ou organizer....Jackie....was fresh from San Fran & the North Face 50 miler...Ken was fresh from a work trip to Germany the day prior.

It was un-seasonally warm (50 degrees f), but the rain had been coming down all night. The rainfall was amplified by the higher elevation snow melt so the creeks were reaching the breaking point. There were a couple of dogs running with us & both had to be carried across one particular fast-flowing stream on Fromme Mountain (we're talking a husky & a large poodle here). 2 1/2 hours from Lynn Valley along the Baden Powell trail to grouse Mountain & down to Cleveland Dam (which was at bursting point), then down the Capilano Pacific trail to Park Royal for brunch. I had to skip on that, so I became the de facto doggie delivery service so that the mutts could rest at home while their owners dined in style.

Here's a lousy photo from my iPhone (it was very dark at 9 this morning.. The creek is usually a trickle & the higher tributary is non-existant...

Muddy, looks like you were the bridge tester to ensure it was stable. The world needs more volunteers like you.

Meri - Thank goodness you weren't hurt any more seriously. I had a horribly deep bone bruise on my hip a few years ago. I empathize re the pain.

The tree went up Thanksgiving weekend. Plus, we've been decorating for a party we had this weekend for The Hub and some of his co-workers. It looks like Christmas threw up in my house, there's so much crap on display.

Got in 16 heavy legged, humid trail miles yesterday in the Arcata Community Forest, followed up by a Christmas party from which I didn't get to bed until almost 2:00 a.m. by the time I kicked everyone out and get an intoxicated hub to bed, then 10 road miles today. I am totally wrung out and thankful tomorrow is a rest day.

Meri, glad nothing more than a bruise.

Spent the better part of 5 hours in 20MPH winds while we were getting a foot of snow, post holing, running and trekking on the trails, ended up with about 4,000 of gain.

No tree yet. I like real trees but I'm cheap. I wait until the trees go on sale.

Saturday: Ginseng and I ran with Team CRUD on some of the trails off Barr Trail. Chest Cold + Hard Pace = Lie Down and Die. I still cannot believe how little snow there was above 9000 feet. Barr Trail was basically clear.

Sorry to hear about the fall, Meri. Good to hear it was just a nasty bruise. Small children love trail injuries. My cousin's daughter counted my boo-boos after Zane Grey last year. I had a lot

No tree; will be no tree. But did go to a Christmas pageant. Does that count?

And, on the running front, I am extreemely pleased to have logged 1.5 miles last week (over the course of three runs) - first runs since September.
