I am a pumpkin bread making machine, i make two loaves every week :D YUM! And it is Zoe approved. on the same note, i found a local company that makes PUMPKIN HUMMUS! OMG OMG OMG! It is so delicious. I cannot wait to get more. Yum.

More on the food note is my weekend report ;) I ran the Harrisburg Marathon and got a PW, but they give you FIVE candy bars in your goodie bag, because it is right next to Hershey, PA :D

Pumpkin Bread AND candy bars? May I visit? I made two loaves of pumpkin bread (the yeasty kind that you can make sandwiches with) and ate both in under a week. That probably isn't too remarkable except the 3/4 of first loaf disappeared within an hour of it exiting the oven.

I took it easy on the weekend. I'm not sure how to recovery from a 50 miler. I was feeling quite good all week but kept it to 10 miles on Saturday and I took a meandering make-it-up-as-you-go course today through the Yorktown battlefields and down to the beach. I even took the time to read all the historical signs, though then I felt as if I'd be shelled by cannon fire at any moment.

Mobius- mine was a sweet bread. But yeasty pumpkin bread, hmmmm. Interesting!

As far as 50M recovery, listen to your body. I like to take it easy for a couple weeks after a big race. After my first 50 miler, the next weekend I went on a long run and went 7 miles out and on my way back had to walk it in, my legs went dead. I was a little over ambitious after my first race :D

Had me some runnin' fun this weekend.

Saturday, the pups and I participated in my running club's 15 mile "Shirt Run" - lot of fun, met up with old friends, made some new.

Sunday, I did a run called the "Misery Run" - No misery for Jimbo, an amazing amount of fun. A local cattle farmer opens up his fields, and woods, and lets 90 odd runners have a blast on a 6 mile run.

Of course the farmer also gets to giggle at all the runners running through piles of cow poo.

Highlight was the "poo volcano". A big pile of poo, with a crater dug out in the middle of it, and then filled with water. By the time I got there, the water was about 3 feet deep, and err the best way I can describe it is "soupy".

I don't know who this girl is, but this kinda gives an idea of what the volcano was like......

I didn't quite DFL, there was one person behind me, who won a prize.... :(

My friend and I had a mud fight. Except it probably wasn't mud. Someone else got cross when I tred to throw some probably-not-mud at another friend and missed.

There was another puddle (of probably-not-mud) that we had to run through three times...... here's Jimbo making like a 5 year old....

I am now in taper mode for a 100-miler in two weeks. But as my last long run, I ran between two nearby towns, (Perth to Smiths Falls) about 28 km. I have a long, on-going project of running the entire length of the Rideau Trail, a 300+ km trail system that connects Ottawa to Kingston. With the run this weekend, I'm now about 1/3 of the way done.

Great running along this nice little tow path.

0 miles for me - I fought a mysterious injury all week (104 miles in 5 days) - 30 minutes of fairly intense pain before it would subside to moderate or low level pain for every run last week - It finally became unmanageable as I tried to run Saturday morning - I made 1/2 mile and had to limp home.

It started up after last Sundays nice trail run - Fall leaves / darkness 1st hour + rocks and roots had me falling 2x and taking 2 or 3 really akward large steps after triping. No pain Sunday - I even ran a recovery run later.

No ankle foot swelling or discoloration, but ... Just below / under ankle (Outside) and continuing to front of foot and back of foot (Just above achillies attackment) sharp pain is knifing every step the 1st 30 minutes. Worse if I try and push off, but also worse if I am landing a certain way. Pushing the heal out side ways (Like if downhill skiing) is not fun, but flexing toes up toward knee is not fun either.

I am miffed - Can you dislocate or separate your ankle - Maybe stress fracture? Anyway - I took Sat-Sun off and will try Elitpical and Stair Climber tonight + maybe a couple of miles running. I am trying one more time to "ignore it and it will go away" before seeking medical diagnosis.

Anyone have ideas in this room?

I have been on ibuprofen the whole 8 days, but I should be icing it too - Start tonight.

@ Mike(Flounder) - I'd have that looked at and soon if I were you.

@ Mark - Good luck on that 100 coming up.

@ Jim - Looks like you had a blast out there. Mud and all :)

Saturday:

Ran the Race 13.1 Valpo half marathon, more as a speed type workout then anything. God knows I was not ready to race anything. Training has been fairly suspect at best the last month.

Turned out to be a great day to run. Pretty good head wind out in the country side, but nothing that pushed me down. However since I haven't raced since July, I felt I needed to do something to justify my existance as a runner. Splits were way off, but I expected it. 7:30/pace was my goal.

Sunday:

1:19:42 (approx 10M) on the fairly advanced mountain bike trail at Dr. TKLawless Park in Cassopolis, MI. Just me and the deer.

Great advanced course as far as trail running is concerned. Certainly provides some great hill training.

Sunday, I did the Rhode Island 6 hour. It is a paved 2.7 mile loop, with some rolling, but no big hills. Weather was great, sunny and about 55. The marathon and 50k distance were marked, so you could see your progress. Marathon: 3:57. 50k: 4:52, total 35.1 miles (13 loops), in 5:38. The only problem was that there was no way to do smaller loops or get credit for partial loops, so I was finished 22 minutes early. And, no I was not going to run a last loop in 22 minutes, so I hung around the start/finish talking to friends and cheering the other finishers.
